Soybean cyst nematode (SCN; Heterodera glycines Ichinohe) is a plant-parasitic nematode that causes substantial yield losses in soybean production. Light signalling is a critical environmental factor that influences photomorphogenesis and carbohydrate metabolism. However, its transcriptional regulation under pathogen-induced stress remains unclear.

Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne incognita) present a significant threat to global agriculture, and the development of multi-drug resistance in these nematodes exacerbates this problem. Benzothiazole, a heterocyclic compound has been reported as a potential nematicide, however, its mode of action is not fully understood. This study aims to elucidate the nematicidal mechanism of benzothiazole against M.

The sheaths of bamboo shoots, characterized by distinct colors and spotting patterns, are key phenotypic markers influencing species classification, market value, and genetic studies. This study introduces YOLOv8-BS, a deep learning model optimized for detecting these traits in using a dataset from Jinfo Mountain, China. Enhanced by data augmentation techniques, including translation, flipping, and contrast adjustment, YOLOv8-BS outperformed benchmark models (YOLOv7, YOLOv5, YOLOX, and Faster R-CNN) in color and spot detection.

Background: Therapeutic central neck dissection (CND) is strongly recommended for patients with clinically node-positive (cN1) papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). However, the role of prophylactic central neck dissection (PCND) remains controversial for clinically node-negative (cN0) PTC, particularly in papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC). To better elucidate the benefits and disadvantages, we conducted a retrospective analysis with a follow-up of more than 10 years.

Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) is a tumor suppressor frequently mutated in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and its loss has been considered as a target for therapeutic exploitation. In an effort to identify therapeutic vulnerabilities in VHL-deficient RCC, we found that SKPin C1, a SKP2 inhibitor, exhibited synthetic lethal effects on VHL-deficient RCC cells. SKPin C1 selectively disrupted spindle assembly in VHL-deficient RCC, leading to the induction of mitotic arrest and death.

To investigate the feasibility of a novel Nitritation and Denitrification for Simultaneous Nitrogen and Phosphorus Removal system, a 133-day experiment was conducted. The results showed that combining aerobic phosphorus release capacity with denitrification phosphorus uptake capacity was feasible to achieve N and P removal. The removal efficiencies of TN and TP in ND-SNPR system were 98.

SWEET (Sugars Will Eventually be Exported Transporter) proteins facilitate the movement of sugars through cell membranes and are essential for loading sucrose into phloem. Beyond its role in sugar transport, the SWEET protein also modulates plant resistance to various biotic and abiotic stresses. Among sugar transporter genes, is a positive regulatory factor involved in soybean cyst nematode () resistance.

The genes maintain endogenous hormone homeostasis by conjugating excess hormones with amino acids. Herein, we identified the members of the GH3 family in soybeans and analyzed their phylogeny, gene duplication, structure, domains, conserved motifs, cis-elements in promoter regions for stress responses, and functional characteristics. We found that genes are induced by pathogens in Group-II.

Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) represent a class of non-coding RNAs. In the study of Sneb821-induced tomato resistance to , reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was employed to validate 12 lncRNAs in tomato. Among them, the lncRNA47258/miR319b/TCP molecular regulatory module was likely implicated in the process of Sneb821-induced tomato resistance against .

Maximizing metal-substrate interactions by self-reconstruction of coadjutant metastable phases can be a delicate strategy to obtain robust and efficient high-density single-atom catalysts. Here, we prepare high-density iridium atoms embedded ultrathin CoCeOOH nanosheets (CoCe-O-Ir) by the electrochemistry-initiated synchronous evolution between metastable iridium intermediates and symmetry-breaking CoCe(OH) substrates. The CoCe-O-Ir delivers an overpotential of 187 mV at 100 mA cm and a steady lifespan of 1000 h at 500 mA cm for oxygen evolution reaction.

Introduction: The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins are a large family of transcription factors that are essential to physiology, metabolism, and development. However, the available information is limited about the gene family in , which is widely cultivated in China because of its high-quality and economic value. cultivars exhibit five natural color variations in their shoot sheaths, but the molecular mechanism behind this color diversity remains unclear.

Background: Fairness in health funding has always been a priority in China. This article aims to study the trends in total health expenditure (THE), government health expenditure (GHE), social health expenditure (SHE), and out-of-pocket health expenditure (OOPHE) among China, the world, and upper-middle-income countries from 2000 to 2019. The goal is to provide a theoretical basis for the Chinese government to adjust and formulate health-related policies.

Electrochemically converting nitrate (NO ) to value-added ammonia (NH) is a complex process involving an eight-electron transfer and numerous intermediates, presenting a significant challenge for optimization. A multi-elemental synergy strategy to regulate the local electronic structure at the atomic level is proposed, creating a broad adsorption energy landscape in high-entropy alloy (HEA) catalysts. This approach enables optimal adsorption and desorption of various intermediates, effectively overcoming energy-scaling limitations for efficient NH electrosynthesis.

This study integrates partial denitrification/Anammox (PD/A) with hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystallization in a single reactor, achieving simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal along with phosphorus recovery. By adjusting pH, sludge concentration, low COD/TN ratio, and applying moderate dissolved oxygen stress, the system operated stably and promoted the synergistic growth of HAP and biomass. Results showed a nitrogen removal efficiency (NRE) of 94.

FHIT is a fragile site tumor suppressor that is primarily inactivated upon tobacco smoking. FHIT loss is frequently observed in lung cancer, making it an important biomarker for the development of targeted therapy for lung cancer. Here, we report that inhibitors of glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3β) and the homologous recombination DNA repair (HRR) pathway are synthetic lethal with FHIT loss in lung cancer.

Secondary upper limb lymphedema commonly occurs after breast cancer surgery, for which treatment is limited. 9-cis-retinoic acid (9-cisRA) has been demonstrated to increase lymphangiogenesis without enhancing tumor metastasis but has disadvantages of poor water solubility, ready decomposition in light, instability to heat, and a short half-life. Based on this, 9-cisRA-Lip with a particle size of roughly 143 nm and high dispersibility was prepared by thin-film dispersion method and verified by Malvern Laser Particle Size Analyzer and electron microscopy.

This research proposes a novel deep breathing analogy (DBA) accelerated carbonation process. Inspired by the breathing mechanism of human lungs, the DBA method involves injecting pure CO into a reaction chamber at a specific pressure (inspiration) and subsequently evacuating the gas from the chamber to a negative pressure (exhalation). This process is repeated to remove excess water from the chamber and restore optimal carbonation conditions, which further enhances the efficiency of carbonation for the sample.

The clearance of senescent cells may be detrimental to low cell density diseases, such as intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), and rejuvenating these cells presents a formidable obstacle. In this study, we investigate a mild-alkalization strategy employing magnesium boride-alginate (MB-ALG) hydrogels to rejuvenate senescent cells associated with age-related diseases. MB-ALG hydrogels proficiently ensnare senescent cells owing to their surface roughness.
