Background: The N2H3 model was evaluated for forecasting the 3-month outcomes for patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke who received intravenous thrombolysis (IVT), in our previous study. The present study aimed to validate the predictive ability of the N2H3 model and to compare its accuracy to the THRIVE-c and START models (both of which are widely employed for prognostic predictions following IVT).
Methods: Our study prospectively enrolled consecutive stroke patients who received IVT from 16 hospitals.
Background: It remains unclear whether the serum levels of the brain injury biomarkers (glial fibrillary acidic protein [GFAP] and ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1 [UCH-L1]) can be used to quantitatively evaluate brain tissue injury and predict prognosis in patients with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT).
Aim: This study investigates the association between serum GFAP and UCH-L1 levels with functional outcomes in patients receiving IVT.
Methods: Patients were prospectively enrolled from 16 hospitals.
Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factors (TRAFs) are crucial intracellular signaling proteins in bone homeostasis. TRAFs mediate pathways associated with bone remodeling, particularly in response to inflammatory stimuli, influencing osteoclast differentiation and function. Dysregulation of TRAF-mediated signaling contributes significantly to osteoporosis, a condition marked by increased bone resorption and fragility.

The broad substrate scope, excellent functional group compatibility, feasibility of step and atom economical one-pot synthetic manipulation, and environmentally benign and mild reaction conditions rendered this methodology an efficient tool for the preparation of synthetically and pharmaceutically prominent fluorine-containing imino compounds.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of photodynamic therapy (PDT) plus tea polyphenols (TP) in treating peri-implantitis.
Methods: The clinical records of 91 peri-implantitis patients treated at the North China University of Science and Technology Affiliated Hospital and Tangshan Hongci Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Forty-one patients who received PDT alone were assigned to the control group, while the other 50 patients receiving both PDT and TP were allocated to the study group.
We present a case of rosacea recurrence in a 37-year-old woman associated with the intake of compound vitamin tablets during the preconception period, with a Naranjo score of 7. These tablets, commonly used for nutritional supplementation to prevent anemia, contain a variety of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Despite their widespread use, reports of such supplements causing rosacea recurrence are rare.

Methods: A total of 159 MDR-TB from China had their EMB MICs quantified, and the sequences of the four ethambutol resistance-associated regions were analyzed. A multivariate regression model was established to evaluate the effects of mutations on EMB resistance.

Objective: To investigate the factors affecting ferric chloride (FeCl) - induced carotid artery thrombosis model experiment.
Methods: After the common carotid artery was damaged by FeCl, the injured vessels were dissected for fixation, embedding, frozen section, and then processed HE staining. The carotid thrombus area ratio was calculated.
Myocardial ischemia‑reperfusion (I/R) injury may lead to dysfunction of signaling pathways related to cell apoptosis, inflammation, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial damage. The present study investigated the defensive effect of liriodendrin, as a natural product isolated from , on reperfusion injury in rats and the underlying mechanisms involved in this process. An rat model of I/R constructed by ligation of the left anterior descending artery, as well as an model using H9C2 cells under hypoxic conditions, was established to assess the cardioprotective effects of liriodendrin.

Although chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and antiangiogenic drugs have become the cornerstones of treatment for advanced non-small-cell carcinoma (NSCLC) in clinical practice, the emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors (such as PD-1 inhibitors) in recent years has also provided new options for the treatment of NSCLC. To explore whether PD-1 inhibitors combined with recombinant human endostatin and chemotherapy followed by IMRT have a certain curative effect in the treatment of advanced NSCLC. We retrospectively analyzed 47 patients with stage IIIB, IIIC, and IV NSCLC admitted to our hospital from August 2022 to June 2023.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of tinidazole (TNZ) combined with minocycline (MINO) on therapeutic effectiveness, bone resorption, and inflammation in peri-implantitis (PI).
Methods: This retrospective study included 96 PI patients admitted between January 2023 and February 2024. Patients were divided into a control group (n = 46) treated with MINO and a research group (n = 50) treated with TNZ plus MINO.
Due to the codon bias of different species, codon optimization is usually carried out in the process of heterologous protein expression. At present, there are a variety of codon optimization tools. However, the optimized sequences may still have high or low points of local guanine and cytosine (GC) content, which is not conducive to the primer design of gene subcloning, and also makes it difficult to perform the experiment of synthesizing the whole gene with DNA fragments by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) reaction.

Paclitaxel is one of the main chemotherapic medicines against triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) in clinic. However, it has been perplexed by paclitaxel resistance in TNBC patients, resulting in a poor prognosis. Abnormal protein glycosylation is closely related to the occurrence and progression of tumors and malignant phenotypes such as chemotherapy resistance.

Clinically, biallelic variants have been identified in patients with hypotonia, hypoventilation, intellectual disabilities, dysautonomia, epilepsy, and eye abnormalities (HIDEA syndrome). Seizure was one of the most prominent symptoms.

Objective: To investigate how reactive oxygen species (ROS) regulates the signal transduction of platelet activation and apoptosis, and to explore the relationship between platelet activation and apoptosis.
Methods: Platelets were directly stimulated with thrombin or pretreated with ROS inhibitor N-acetylcysteine (NAC) before being stimulated with thrombin, and then flow cytometry was used to detect the effects of thrombin and NAC on P-selectin expression, αⅡbβ3 activation, mitochondrial membrane potential depolarization, phosphatidylserine (PS) externalization, ROS expression and platelet aggregation.
Results: Thrombin could induce the production of ROS in platelets in a concentration- and time-dependent manner.
Gene cloning is an important step in investigating gene structure and function. To verify gene sequence, Sanger sequencing is used, which may produce several overlapping sequencing files that need to be merged before alignment to the target gene sequence is performed. Previously, we reported the Python program to Merge Sanger sequences (https://peerj.

Background And Aims: Porto-sinusoidal vascular disease (PSVD) as a novel clinical conception was modified on the basis of idiopathic non-cirrhotic portal hypertension (INCPH). This study aimed to compare the clinical, biochemical histological features and prognosis between the diagnostic criteria for PSVD and that of INCPH.
Methods: A total of 65 patients who underwent liver biopsies were analyzed retrospectively.

Feeding rate is an important factor influencing the carbon and nitrogen input and greenhouse gas emission from aquaculture systems. However, the quantitative relationship between feeding rates and GHG emissions is still poorly understood. In this study, we conducted a laboratory-scale experiment to examine the impact of feeding rate (0%, 2%, 4%, 6%, and 8%) on the CH and NO emissions from a pond rice-fish co-culture system.

Epithelial barrier impairment of intestinal inflammation leads to the leakage of bacteria, antigens and consequent persistent immune imbalance. Restoring the barrier function holds promise for management of intestinal inflammation, while the theragnostic strategies are limited. In this study, we developed a novel coating by catalase (CAT)-catalyzed polymerization of tannic acid (TA) and combined chelation network with Fe.
