Background: Pancreatitis is a significant global health concern, particularly among working-age adults, yet comprehensive evaluations are scarce.
Methods: Using Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 data, we assessed the prevalence, mortality, and disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) of pancreatitis in individuals aged 20-54 years across 204 countries from 1990 to 2021. Age-standardized rates (ASRs) and estimated annual percentage changes (EAPCs) were analyzed.
Objectives: The effectiveness of prolonged infusion of meropenem in treating sepsis remains debated. This meta-analysis aims to compare the clinical effectiveness and safety of prolonged infusion versus short-term infusion of meropenem in sepsis patients.

SS18 participates in BAF complexes that open chromatin, while the SSX genes are cancer-testis antigens that interface with chromatin decorated with monoubiquitinated histone H2A placed by polycomb repressive complex activity. Because KDM2B brings polycomb repressive complex to unmethylated CpG islands, it is plausible that methylation directly determines the distribution of SS18::SSX to target loci.

Objective: This study aims to explore the interactions between social capital, positive psychological capital, and health-promoting behaviors among elderly residents in nursing homes in the Xiangxi region of China.
Methods: A random cluster sampling method was employed to select elderly individuals from 27 nursing homes in the Xiangxi area. Data were collected using the general information questionnaire, the Social Capital Scale, the Positive Psychological Capital Scale, and the Health-Promoting Behaviors Scale.

SS18::SSX alters ATP-dependent chromatin remodeling BAF (mammalian SWI/SNF) complexes, leading to the degradation of canonical (cBAF) complex and amplified presence of an SS18::SSX-containing non-canonical BAF (ncBAF or GBAF) that drives an SS-specific transcription program and tumorigenesis. Objective: To investigate the potential prognostic value of mean blood glucose (MBG) in hospital for prognosis of COVID-19 adult patients in the intensive unit care unit (ICU).

Background: Solid organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) are more likely to suffer complications after being infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).
Objectives: We aimed to describe the clinical features of SOTRs infected with SARS-CoV-2 and to assess independent risk factors associated with the development of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) following COVID-19 infection in SOTRs based on the new ARDS definition.
Methods: 358 SOTRs infected with SARS-CoV-2 were recruited and divided into two groups, patients with ARDS (n = 81) and patients without ARDS (n = 277).
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has a high incidence and poor prognosis; however, no effective treatment is currently available. Our previous study found that the improvement effect of the herb pair of Rhubarb-Astragalus on CKD is likely related to the inhibition of the TGF-β1/p38-MAPK pathway. In the present study, a p38-MAPK inhibitor was used to further investigate the inhibitory effect of Rhubarb-Astragalus on the TGF-β1/p38-MAPK pathway and its relationship with autophagy.

The t(X,17) chromosomal translocation, generating the ASPSCR1::TFE3 fusion oncoprotein, is the singular genetic driver of alveolar soft part sarcoma (ASPS) and some Xp11-rearranged renal cell carcinomas (RCCs), frustrating efforts to identify therapeutic targets for these rare cancers. Here, proteomic analysis identifies VCP/p97, an AAA+ ATPase with known segregase function, as strongly enriched in co-immunoprecipitated nuclear complexes with ASPSCR1::TFE3. We demonstrate that VCP is a likely obligate co-factor of ASPSCR1::TFE3, one of the only such fusion oncoprotein co-factors identified in cancer biology.

In contrast to rodents, the mechanisms underlying human trophectoderm and early placenta specification are understudied due to ethical barriers and the scarcity of embryos. Recent reports have shown that human pluripotent stem cells (PSCs) can differentiate into trophectoderm (TE)-like cells (TELCs) and trophoblast stem cells (TSCs), offering a valuable in vitro model to study early placenta specification. Here, we demonstrate that the VGLL1 (vestigial-like family member 1), which is highly expressed during human and non-human primate TE specification in vivo but is negligibly expressed in mouse, is a critical regulator of cell fate determination and self-renewal in human TELCs and TSCs derived from naïve PSCs.
