We report an efficient and highly diastereoselective protocol for the rapid construction of 3-nitro substituted 4-chromanones by an intramolecular Michael-type cyclization of α-nitro aryl ketones bearing unsaturated ester units. A catalytic amount of KOtBu was found to be crucial for the high diastereoselective control of this transformation. With this protocol, a series of 3,3-disubstituted 3-nitro-4-chromanones were synthesized in good to excellent yields with high diastereoselectivities and showed moderate to good in vitro antitumor activities, representing promising antitumor hits for further drug discovery.

Methods: Five hundred and sixty-eight participants with IGT in the original Daqing diabetes prevention study, 297 with hypertension (HBP) and 271 without hypertension (NBP), were enrolled in 1986 and the intervention phase lasted for 6 years. In 2009, they were followed up to assess the outcomes of cardiovascular events (including stroke and myocardial infarction) and incidence of diabetes.

Currently, it remains controversial whether p-phenylenediamine (PPD) is genotoxic. In this study, we evaluated the potential genotoxicity of PPD using the newly-developed Pig-a gene mutation assay. The results of three classical genetic toxicity tests (bacterial reverse mutation assay, mammalian cell chromosomal aberration test, and mammalian erythrocyte micronucleus test) are all positive, suggesting that PPD is potentially genotoxic.

To systematically review the effect of CHM on quality of life and exercise tolerance in patients with HFpEF. We conducted a systematic literature search for Chinese and English studies in PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database, Wanfang Data, and China Science and Technology Journal Database.

In this work, green emissive CDs were prepared by simple hydrothermal pyrolysis of phenolphthalein and ethylenediamine at 180 °C for 5 h, with a quantum yield of 17%. The as-prepared CDs can be selectively quenched by Hg2+ due to their specific binding affinity causing photo-induced electron transfer (PET).

Upon addition of Al3+, a yellow Al(iii)-rutin complex was formed without any interaction between Al3+ and the carbon dots (CDs). As a result, a new absorption peak of the complex at 430 nm increased while the peak of rutin at 360 nm decreased.

The MoS nanodot was used as the PA/CT contrast as well as hyperthermal agent. The MoS@SiO nanoparticles prepared by a facile one-pot approach can serve as drug-delivery vehicles to transport the NIR absorbing photosensitizer AlPc within the mesoporous cavities.

Hence, a mitochondria-targeting multifunctional nanocarrier "theranosome (TNS)" was developed for near-infrared fluorescent (NIRF) imaging and photoacoustic (PA) imaging. What's more, the TNS can also enhance PDT efficacy.

However, there is little research for PB-based nanoagents to achieve synergistic phototherapy guided by multimodal imaging diagnosis and monitoring. Herein, a novel single wavelength near infrared (NIR) laser-induced magnetically targeted theranostic nanoplatform has been successfully designed and synthesized for the first time based on polydopamine (PDA)/aluminum phthalocyanine (AlPc)/bovine serum albumin (BSA) coated magnetic Prussian blue nanoparticles (FeO@PB NPs) for multiple imaging-guided combinatorial cancer therapy.

Moreover, we expect that the HA-doped PPy smart shell for the surface functionalization will also be applied to a variety of 2D nanomaterials sharing a similar structure with BiSe to broaden their applications in biomedicine. The BiSe hexagon nanodish was synthesized via a simple and safe solution-based method compared to the commonly adopted ones.

However, it can't be concentrated in tumor site through intravenous administration due to its ultrasmall size. However, pre-existing hypoxia in tumors and oxygen consumption during PDT can result in an inadequate oxygen supply, which in turn hampers PDT efficacy. Herein, an O self-sufficient nanotheranostic platform based on hollow MoS nanoparticles (HMoS) with oxygen-saturated perfluorohexane (O@PFH) and surface-modified human serum albumin (HSA)/chloride aluminium phthalocyanine (AlPc) (O@PFH@HMoS-HSA/AlPc), has been designed for the imaging and oxygen self-enriched photodynamic therapy (Oxy-PDT) of cancer.

In this study, we not only examined the sensitivity and reliability of single/multiple serum markers for diagnosis, but also assessed their connection with pathological parameters from a total of 279 colorectal cancer patients. Our study shown that glycoprotein carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) owns the highest sensitivity among single marker in the order of CEA > cancer antigen 72-4 (CA72-4) > cancer antigen 19-9 9 (CA19-9) > ferritin > cancer antigen 125 (CA125), while the most sensitive combined-markers for two to five were: CEA + CA72-4; CEA + CA72-4 + CA125; CEA + CA19-9 + CA72-4 + CA125; and CEA + CA19-9 + CA72-4 + CA125 + ferritin, respectively.
