Background: During intense exercise, anaerobic metabolism predominantly produces energy in the body, resulting in lactic acid (LA) accumulation, which contributes to muscle fatigue and soreness and may also impair neurological and cardiovascular functions. In endurance sports, the lactate threshold (LT) is a key indicator of an athlete's capacity to clear and utilize LA, directly influencing athletic performance and endurance. Therefore, LA detection is crucial for assessing the physical condition of both athletes and the general population, as well as for optimizing training programs.

High-performance lead-free KNaNbO piezoelectric ceramics present a practical alternative to lead-containing counterparts by effectively reducing potential environmental hazards. This advancement is particularly relevant to the development of ferroelectric heterojunction devices for biomedical applications. Here, we design and fabricate a frequency-adjustable ferroelectric heterojunction based on the developed KNaNbO piezoelectric ceramics with a high piezoelectric coefficient (d = 680 pC/N).

Objective: To assess the effect of ovarian endometriotic cysts on the efficacy of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in patients with adenomyosis.
Methods: Based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings, patients were categorized into three groups according to the presence and type of adnexal cyst signal: group A (with endometriotic cyst signal), group B (with simple cyst signal), and group C (without cyst signal). The non-perfused volume ratio (NPVR), postoperative dysmenorrhea scores, and long-term recurrence of HIFU were compared among groups.
Background: Epithelioid glioblastoma (eGBM) is a rare variant of glioblastoma (GBM). Due to the limited number of reported cases, our understanding of eGBM remains constrained. The updated definition of GBM has further highlighted the need for more comprehensive studies on this rare subtype.

Urine samples were obtained from children with IgAV who were treated at our hospital from October 2022 to October 2023. These samples were then categorized into the IgAV group and the IgAVN group.

However, achieving a synchronous combination of high energy density and efficiency along with intelligent temperature-monitorable function remains a significant challenge. Here, based on high-entropy strategy and phase field simulation, the polarization response of domains in BiNaTiO-based ceramics is optimized by constructing a concomitant nanostructure of defect dipole polarization and a polymorphic relaxor phase.

Rationale: Cardiac arrest (CA) is a life-threatening event with a high mortality rate, and neurological injury following cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a leading cause of death and disability in survivors. While prolonged CPR is often associated with poor neurological outcomes, there is limited evidence of successful recovery following extended resuscitation efforts. This study aims to highlight the potential for recovery after prolonged CPR by reporting a case of a patient who underwent 152 minutes of CPR, regained consciousness, and made a full recovery.

Developing high-performance Ca-based materials that can work for long-term heat transfer and storage in concentrated solar power plants is crucial to achieve the large-scale conversion of solar photon fluxes to dispatchable electricity. This work demonstrates that a series of Mn, Zr co-doped CaCO nanomaterials with the 3D ordered macroporous (3DOM) skeletons are successfully prepared by a novel strategy of templated metal salt co-precipitation. The characterization results indicate that a majority of Zr and Mn are atomically dispersed into the highly-crystallized CaCO framework, whereas a minor amount of Mn is present in the form of CaMnO nanoparticles (NPs).

However, their low energy storage density and single energy storage performance (ESP) limit their further development and applicability in rugged environments. Here, through the design of vacancy defects and phase structure regulation, Pb-free (BiNa)TiO-based ceramics with an optimal composition can achieve a large maximum polarization (>44 µC cm) under a moderate electric field (410 kV cm), resulting in an extremely high recoverable energy storage density (≈6.

The impact of defects on the performance of piezoelectric materials has been a topic of considerable debate, due to the competing actions of the deteriorating effect of the defects themselves on the ceramic resistance and the positive effect on the piezoelectric performance resulting from the defect polarization. In order to probe its combined influence on piezoelectric properties, here, we designed BiFeO (BF)-based ceramics with different defect concentrations. It has been demonstrated that the incorporation of an appropriate concentration of defects into ceramics can effectively enhance their piezoelectric properties while maintaining their insulating properties.

Methods: 80% of sepsis patients selected randomly from the MIMIC-IV database, without prior pulmonary conditions and with nonpulmonary infection sites, were used to construct prediction models through machine learning techniques (including K-nearest neighbour, extreme gradient boosting, support vector machine, deep neural network, and decision tree methods). The remaining 20% of patients were utilized to validate the model's accuracy.

Photoferroelectrics that involve strong light-matter coupling are regarded as promising candidates for realizing bulk photovoltaic and photoelectric effects via light absorption. Nonetheless, understanding the photoresponse mechanism or modulation of performance from a microscopic point of view is scarcely explored through quantification of macroscopic properties. Herein, we design a model material, Gd-doped (KNa)NbO ferroelectric-transparent ceramics, and present an advantageous strategy to enhance the optoelectronic coupling through joint modulations of lattice distortion and oxygen vacancies, along with inner defects and ferroelectric domains.

Considering the large demand for electricity in the era of artificial intelligence and big data, there is an urgent need to explore novel energy storage media with higher energy density and intelligent temperature self-check functions. High-entropy (HE) ceramic capacitors are of great significance because of their excellent energy storage efficiency and high power density (P). However, the contradiction between configurational entropy and polarization in traditional HE systems greatly restrains the increase in energy storage density.

Fatty liver is characterized by the expansion of lipid droplets (LDs) and is associated with the development of many metabolic diseases. We assessed the morphology of hepatic LDs and performed quantitative proteomics in lean, glucose-tolerant mice compared with high-fat diet (HFD) fed mice that displayed hepatic steatosis and glucose intolerance as well as high-starch diet (HStD) fed mice who exhibited similar levels of hepatic steatosis but remained glucose tolerant. Both HFD- and HStD-fed mice had more and larger LDs than Chow-fed animals.

Here, we employ a medium entropy strategy to design NPB and utilize texture engineering to induce crystal orientation.
