Objective: The cAMP second messenger system, a major stress-response pathway, plays essential roles in normal cardiovascular functions and in pathogenesis of heart diseases. Here, we test the hypothesis that the Epac1 (exchange protein directly activated by cAMP 1) acts as a major downstream effector of cAMP signaling to promote atherogenesis and represents a novel therapeutic target. Approach and Results: To ascertain Epac1's function in atherosclerosis development, a triple knockout mouse model () was generated by crossing mice with atherosclerosis-prone mice lacking both and .

However, no instrument that assesses this construct in elderly Chinese patients has been shown to have valid psychometric properties. Objective To investigate the psychometric properties of the Chinese version of the self-efficacy for Appropriate Medication Use Scale in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.

However, little is known about its downstream immunomodulatory and intrinsic molecular mechanisms. Herein, mouse splenic lymphocytes were isolated to characterize the immunomodulatory effects and molecular mechanisms of APS in vitro.

Exosomes are cystic vesicles secreted by living cells with a phospholipid bilayer membrane. Importantly, these vesicles could serve to carry lipids, proteins, genetic materials, and transmit biological information in vivo. The cell-specific proteins and genetic materials in exosomes are capable of reflecting their cell origin and physiological status.

Background: Hasner valve incision has been recently introduced as a new treatment for ophthalmic patients with epiphora symptoms. The aim of this study was to examine whether surgical outcomes of Hasner valve incision for inferior nasolacrimal duct obstruction were different between pediatric and adult patients.
Methods: A total of 53 eyes of 52 patients who underwent Hasner valve incision in the Beijing Tongren Hospital from October 2016 to November 2019 were retrospectively observed.

The dirhodium tetraacetate-catalyzed iminoiodane-mediated reaction of 1,3-dimethyl-5-vinyluracil with phenyl sulfamate provided a high yield of 5-(1-acetyl-2-phenylsulfamoyl)ethyluracil via regioselective nucleophilic ring opening by acetate anion of the transiently formed 5-(1,2)-N-phenylsulfonylaziridine intermediate. This 1,2-oxyamidation reaction was found to be general for a variety of aryl- and alkylsulfamates as well as for various 1,3-dialkyl-5-vinyluracil derivatives. Addition of an alcohol to the reaction mixture allowed formation of the corresponding 1-alkoxy products.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication of critically ill adult patients with COVID-19. However, currently, no studies investigate kidney impairment in children with COVID-19. We investigated incidence and treatment of AKI in pediatric patients with COVID-19 in Wuhan Children's Hospital during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and discuss possible mechanisms of AKI related to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Objective: This study was designed to investigate the situation of social anxiety among left-behind children in rural areas of Hunan Province, China, and to study the effect of social anxiety on loneliness.
Methodology: A total of 797 left-behind children were selected from rural areas in Hunan Province, China. The basic information questionnaire for left-behind children, Social Anxiety Scale for Children, Perceived Social Support Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale were used for investigation.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease and important risk factor for cardiac diseases, diabetes and extrahepatic cancers. Natural 3'-geranylchalconaringenin (GC) and desmethylxanthohumol (DX) from hop were synthesized using a regio-selective iodination and the Suzuki coupling reaction as key steps. GC and DX, along with their aglycone naringenin chalcone (NC) were investigated their decreasing the accumulation of cellular lipids.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are implicated in the biological behavior of many malignant tumors. NETs can be degraded into soluble nucleosomes, leading to the release of fragments containing DNA and granule proteins into the peripheral blood (PB).

Forest growing stem volume (GSV) is a key indicator for monitoring and evaluating the quality of planted forest. To improve the accuracy of planted forest GSV located in south China, four L-band ALOS PALSAR-2 quad-polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images were acquired from June to September with short intervals.

To fulfil these needs, effector T cells must adapt to fluctuations in environmental nutrient levels at sites of infection and inflammation. Here, we show that effector T cells can utilize inosine, as an alternative substrate, to support cell growth and function in the absence of glucose in vitro.

Methods: We prospectively recruited treatment-naive children with H pylori infection and H pylori-negative asymptomatic children as healthy controls.
Objective: To isolate the phenolic compounds obtained from the dried roots of and investigate their pharmacological activities.
Methods: The chemical constituents were isolated and purified by combining them with a macroporous resin (DM-8), MCI gel, and Sephadex LH-20 and by performing ODS column chromatography. Their structures were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR analyses, as well as mass spectrometry.

Spatial characteristics analysis of the human health risk posed by heavy metals in cultivated soils is of great significance, with the potential to prevent and control soil pollution, protect human health, provide a basis for risk management, etc. In this paper, a methodological system, including a USEPA health risk assessment model, differentiation and factor detector within a geographical detector, and optimized initial model of rank-size theory, was constructed from a geographical perspective. Taking a city in Jiangsu province as the research object, we obtained the spatial differentiation and relative level of human health risk of Cr, Pb, Hg, and Cd in cultivated land by using the methodological system constructed and SPSS and ArcGIS software.

Ten undescribed cembrane-type diterpenes boscartins AL-AU, as well as five known analogues were isolated from Boswellia sacra Flueck. The relative configurations of these boscartins were established by extensive spectroscopic analysis of NMR spectra, IR and MS. The absolute configurations of boscartin AL, boscartin AN and isoincensole oxide were unequivocally assigned by single crystal X-ray diffraction.

Multiple myeloma is a plasma cell blood cancer with frequent chromosomal translocations leading to gene fusions. To determine the clinical relevance of fusion events, we detect gene fusions from a cohort of 742 patients from the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation CoMMpass Study. Patients with multiple clinic visits enable us to track tumor and fusion evolution, and cases with matching peripheral blood and bone marrow samples allow us to evaluate the concordance of fusion calls in patients with high tumor burden.
