Temperature-related hospitalization burden under climate change.

Climate change has markedly increased adverse effects on human health and economic growth. However, few studies have differentiated the impacts of extreme temperatures at the city level and analysed the future implications for human health under various climate change scenarios. Here we leverage data on historical relationships among six kinds of climate-sensitive diseases (CSDs) and associated hospitalizations and temperatures across 301 cities (more than 90% of all cities) and more than 7,000 hospitals in China, and use a nonlinear distributed lag model.

RNF112 Facilitates Ubiquitin-Mediated Degradation of c-Myc, Suppressing Proliferation, Migration and Lipid Synthesis in Bladder Cancer.

The E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF112 is significantly downregulated in bladder cancer (BLCA) and is correlated with disease progression. In vitro and in vivo studies indicated that RNF112 suppresses BLCA cell proliferation, migration, and lipid synthesis. Mechanistically, RNF112 directly interacts with the MB II domain of MYC through its N-terminal zinc finger motif, and its catalytic site C97 facilitates K48-linked polyubiquitination of the K389 residue on the c-Myc protein, accelerating its degradation.

Aberrant autophagy could promote cancer cells to survive and proliferate in prostate cancer (PCa). LncRNAs play key roles in autophagy regulatory network. We established a prognostic model, which autophagy-related lncRNAs (au-lncRNAs) were used as biomarkers to predict prognosis of individuals with PCa.

YTHDC1 as a tumor progression suppressor through modulating FSP1-dependent ferroptosis suppression in lung cancer.

Ferroptosis is a regulated cell death process initiated by iron-dependent phospholipid peroxidation and is mainly suppressed by GPX4-dependent and FSP1-dependent surveillance mechanisms. However, how the ferroptosis surveillance system is regulated during cancer development remains largely unknown. Here, we report that the YTHDC1-mediated mA epigenetic regulation of FSP1 alleviates the FSP1-dependent ferroptosis suppression that partially contributes to the tumor suppressive role of YTHDC1 in lung cancer progression.

Background: Globally, despite prostate cancer (PCa) representing second most prevalent malignancy in male, the precise molecular mechanisms implicated in its pathogenesis remain unclear. Consequently, elucidating the key molecular regulators that govern disease progression could substantially contribute to the establishment of novel therapeutic strategies, ultimately advancing the management of PCa.

Methods: A total of 49 PCa tissues and 43 adjacent normal tissues were collected from January 2017 to December 2021 at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University.

A potassium-chloride co-transporter promotes tumor progression and castration resistance of prostate cancer through mA reader YTHDC1.

SLC12A5, a neuron-specific potassium-chloride co-transporter, has been reported to promote tumor progression, however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Here we report that SLC12A5 functions as an oncogene to promote tumor progression and castration resistance of prostate cancer through the N6-methyladenosine (mA) reader YTHDC1 and the transcription factor HOXB13. We have shown that the level of SLC12A5 was increased in prostate cancer, in comparison to its normal counterparts, and further elevated in castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC).

Virtual reality for pain and anxiety of pediatric oncology patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: The aim of this paper is to systematically evaluate the effects of virtual reality (VR) on pain, anxiety, and fear symptoms of pediatric patients with cancer.

Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, CINAHL, and four Chinese medical databases were searched from January 1, 1975, to February 22, 2022. Randomized controlled trials on the effects of VR technology on pediatric cancer patients were searched.

Background: The burden of kidney, bladder, and prostate cancers has changed in recent decades. This study aims to investigate the global and regional burden of, and attributable risk factors for genitourinary cancers during the past 30 years.

Methods: We extracted data of kidney, bladder, and prostate cancers from the Global Burden of Disease 2019 database, including incidence, mortality, disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), and attributable risk factors from 1990 to 2019.

The immunophenotype of bladder cancer plays a pivotal role in the prognosis of cancer, but the effect of different epigenetic factors on different immunophenotypes in bladder tumours remains unclear. This study used multi-omics data analysis to provide molecular basis support for different immune phenotypes. Unsupervised cluster analysis revealed distinct subclusters with higher (subcluster B2) or lower cytotoxic immune phenotypes (subcluster A1) related to PD-L1 and IFNG expression.

Optimally estimating the sample standard deviation from the five-number summary.

When reporting the results of clinical studies, some researchers may choose the five-number summary (including the sample median, the first and third quartiles, and the minimum and maximum values) rather than the sample mean and standard deviation (SD), particularly for skewed data. For these studies, when included in a meta-analysis, it is often desired to convert the five-number summary back to the sample mean and SD. For this purpose, several methods have been proposed in the recent literature and they are increasingly used nowadays.

In this review, we introduced methodological quality assessment tools for randomized controlled trial (including individual and cluster), animal study, non-randomized interventional studies (including follow-up study, controlled before-and-after study, before-after/ pre-post study, uncontrolled longitudinal study, interrupted time series study), cohort study, case-control study, cross-sectional study (including analytical and descriptive), observational case series and case reports, comparative effectiveness research, diagnostic study, health economic evaluation, prediction study (including predictor finding study, prediction model impact study, prognostic prediction model study), qualitative study, outcome measurement instruments (including patient - reported outcome measure development, content validity, structural validity, internal consistency, cross-cultural validity/ measurement invariance, reliability, measurement error, criterion validity, hypotheses testing for construct validity, and responsiveness), systematic review and meta-analysis, and clinical practice guideline.

A rapid advice guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) infected pneumonia (standard version).

In December 2019, a new type viral pneumonia cases occurred in Wuhan, Hubei Province; and then named "2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV)" by the World Health Organization (WHO) on 12 January 2020. For it is a never been experienced respiratory disease before and with infection ability widely and quickly, it attracted the world's attention but without treatment and control manual. For the request from frontline clinicians and public health professionals of 2019-nCoV infected pneumonia management, an evidence-based guideline urgently needs to be developed.

Diagnostic Value Investigation and Bioinformatics Analysis of miR-31 in Patients with Lymph Node Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most frequent cancers occurring in developed countries. Distant CRC metastasis causes more than 90% of CRC-associated mortality. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a key role in regulating tumor metastasis and could be potential diagnostic biomarkers in CRC patients.

Periodontal disease and risk of benign prostate hyperplasia: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Both periodontal disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia are age-related diseases that affect millions of people worldwide. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the association between periodontal disease and the risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Methods: A total of 4930 participants were selected from an available health examination that was carried out in 2017, only males were considered for further analysis.

Management of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer: quality of clinical practice guidelines and variations in recommendations.

Background: Bladder cancer (BC) has become a major worldwide public health issue, especially non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). A flood of related clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) have emerged; however, the quality and recommendations of the guidelines are controversial. We aimed to appraise the quality of the CPGs for NMIBC within the past 5 years and compare the similarities and differences between recommendations for therapies.

Barriers and enablers for the implementation of clinical practice guidelines in China: a mixed-method study.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to explore perspectives and reasoning of medical staff from Class A tertiary hospitals about the factors hindering and facilitating the uptake and use of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) during medical procedures.

Design: Mixed-method research study to collect and analyse both quantitative and qualitative data.

Development of a 21-miRNA Signature Associated With the Prognosis of Patients With Bladder Cancer.

To develop a prognostic signature for patients with bladder cancer (BC). We identified differentially expressed miRNAs between normal bladder tissue and bladder cancer in the TCGA-BCLA dataset and evaluated prognostic values of these miRNAs. Then, a 21-miRNA signature was constructed based on the results of Cox proportional hazards regression model.

Body Mass Index and Risk of Prostate Volume, International Prostate Symptom Score, Maximum Urinary Flow Rate, and Post-Void Residual in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia Patients.

The objective of this study was to evaluate association between body mass index (BMI) and prostate volume (PV), international prostate symptom scores (IPSS), maximum urinary flow rate (), and post-void residual (PVR) of Chinese benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients. All newly diagnosed BPH patients between September 2016 and August 2018 were selected and 788 patients were included. According to BMI, the patients were categorized into four groups, while according to PV, IPSS, , and PVR, they were categorized into two groups based on clinical significant cutoffs.

Role of CYP17 rs743572 Polymorphism in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia: A Multivariate Integrated Analysis.

Many published studies have investigated the association between CYP17 rs743572 polymorphism and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) susceptibility but have yielded inconsistent results. Hence, we performed this meta-analysis using the multivariate statistic method to address a more precise association. Case-control or cohort studies with adequate genotype distribution or minor allele frequency (MAF) were identified by searching the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases up to December, 2018.

Combination of Intravesical Bacille Calmette-Guérin and Chemotherapy vs. Bacille Calmette-Guérin Alone in Non-muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer: A Meta-Analysis.

About 75% of newly diagnosed bladder cancer cases suffer from non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), which used to recur and progress despite transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT). This meta-analysis was conducted to examine if combined application of intravesical bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) with chemotherapy is associated with better prognosis. Systematic searches of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) concerning NMIBC were performed in PubMed, EMbase, CENTRAL, CNKI, WanFang, VIP, CBM databases, and some specialized websites.

Significantly differentially expressed miRNAs were identified using the R package "limma," After that, the survival analysis was conducted to discover the significance of these up-regulated miRNAs for the prognosis of HCC patients.
