The mRNA export factor GLE1 protein plays critical yet enigmatic functions in RNA processing and has been linked with multiple developmental disorders, including lethal congenital contracture syndrome 1 (LCCS1). Using in vivo genetic engineering to study disturbed GLE1 functions under physiological conditions, we demonstrate that total inactivation of GLE1 results in disorganization of the blastocyst inner cell mass and early embryonic lethality due to defects in lineage specification. In contrast, the knock-in mice genocopying the LCCS1-associated GLE1 variant (Gle1) survive the prenatal period but die suddenly at midadulthood.

Double-yolk (DY) eggs refer to the presence of two yolks in an egg, and they are often present in fowl flocks. As abnormal eggs, DY eggs occur frequently in the early stages of egg-laying in hens, as well as in hens with early sexual maturity. In order to understand the inheritant pattern of DY eggs and explore candidate genes associated with DY eggs, we selected over 10,000 white Leghorn (WL) chickens from 4 generations and recorded the data during the egg laying period, including total egg number and the rate of DY egg number during the first 2 months and the period of 18-58 weeks of age (EN2month, EN38, EN58, DY2month, DY38, and DY58), age at first egg (AFE), first egg weight (FEW), and body weight at first egg (BWA).

This study explored the role of Piezo1 in the odontogenic differentiation of dental papilla cells (DPCs) and tissue, focusing on a mechanism involving family with sequence similarity 83, member G (FAM83G). Here, we found Piezo1, a mechanosensitive cation channel, was upregulated during odontogenesis in DPCs and dental papilla tissues. The activation and specialization of regulatory T cells (Tregs) are crucial for maintaining immune self-tolerance; however, the regulation of these processes by histone modifications is not fully understood. Here, we show that T cell-specific deletion of the lysine methyltransferase MLL1 results in a spontaneous lymphocyte proliferation phenotype in aged mice without disturbing the development of conventional T cells and Tregs. Treg-specific MLL1 ablation leads to a systemic autoimmune disease associated with Treg dysfunction.
