In this study, PTA&PMA/NiMoO@NF was synthesized on nickel foam through wet chemical etching to promote the kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) effectively. OER benefits from two cationic (Ni and Mo) defects and the optimized electronic configuration of PTA&PMA/NiMoO@NF. Thus, it only needs 200 mV to reach the current density of 10 mA cm in 1.

Niemann-Pick disease type C protein 1 (NPC1), classically associated with cholesterol transport and viral entry, has an emerging role in cancer biology. Here, we demonstrate that knockout of Npc1 in hepatocytes attenuates hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression in both DEN (diethylnitrosamine)-CCl induced and MYC-driven HCC mouse models. Mechanistically, NPC1 significantly promotes HCC progression by modulating the TGF-β pathway, independent of its traditional role in cholesterol transport.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a highly lethal cancer, and proteomic studies have shown increased protein diversity and abundance in HCC tissues, whereas the role of protein translation has not been extensively explored in HCC. Our research focused on key molecules in the translation process to identify a potential contributor in HCC. We discovered that EIF4G2, a crucial translation initiation factor, is significantly upregulated in HCC tissues and associated with poor prognosis.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) seriously threatens human health, mostly developed from liver fibrosis or cirrhosis. Since diethylnitrosamine (DEN) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl)-induced HCC mouse model almost recapitulates the characteristic of HCC with fibrosis and inflammation, it is taken as an essential tool to investigate the pathogenesis of HCC. However, a comprehensive understanding of the protein expression profile of this model is little.

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the clinical features and outcomes of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), identifying two distinct subtypes of SLE-PAH through consensus clustering.
  • The analysis revealed that one subtype exhibited poorer health markers and a lower 2-year survival rate compared to the other, highlighting the differences in disease severity among SLE-PAH patients.
  • A risk prediction model was developed, identifying factors such as older age and specific antibody presence that could help anticipate patient outcomes and guide treatment decisions.

Cell lines are extensively used tools, therefore a comprehensive proteomic overview of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell lines and an extensive spectral library for data independent acquisition (DIA) quantification are necessary. Here, we present the proteome of nine commonly used HCC cell lines covering 9,208 protein groups, and the HCC spectral library containing 253,921 precursors, 168,811 peptides and 10,098 protein groups. The proteomic overview reveals the heterogeneity between different cell lines, and the similarity in proliferation and metastasis characteristics and drug targets-expression with tumour tissues.

Pan-otic CRE drivers enable gene regulation throughout the otic placode lineage, comprising the inner ear epithelium and neurons. However, intersection of extra-otic gene-of-interest expression with the CRE lineage can compromise viability and impede auditory analyses. Furthermore, extant pan-otic CREs recombine in auditory and vestibular brain nuclei, making it difficult to ascribe resulting phenotypes solely to the inner ear.

Electroacupuncture (EA) has effective analgesic effects. Our previous study demonstrated that the upregulation of P2X3 receptors in the dorsal root ganglia (DRG) might participate in heroin withdrawal-induced hyperalgesia. The aim of this study is to further explore whether 2 Hz EA reduces heroin relapse associated with its analgesic effect and whether P2X3 receptors in the DRG are involved in this process.

DNA integrity plays a crucial role in cell survival. Methamphetamine (METH) is an illegal psychoactive substance that is abused worldwide, and repeated exposure to METH could form mass free radicals and induce neuronal apoptosis. It has been reported that free radicals generated by METH treatment can oxidize DNA and hence produce strand breaks, but whether oxidative DNA damage is involved in the neurotoxicity caused by METH remains unclear.
