This study aimed to analyze the homology between carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO) intestinal colonization strains and bloodstream infection (BSI) strains in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), confirming the clinical use of the real-time rectal swab Xpert Carba-R assay, and investigate its feasibility in early warning of BSI. Drug-resistant strains obtained from rectal swabs and blood culture samples of patients undergoing the same HSCT from January 2021 to December 2021 were collected and analyzed. The homology of the CRO intestinal colonization and BSI strains was confirmed using strain identification, antimicrobial resistance phenotyping, whole genome sequencing (WGS), multilocus sequence typing (MLST), and carbapenemase type identification.

Background: Spinal schwannomas presenting with an intraspinal hematoma or subarachnoid hemorrhage are extremely rare, and patients often have severe spinal cord compression symptoms. However, the mechanism underlying the bleeding remains unclear.
Case Presentation: We present the case of a 53-year-old Chinese female diagnosed with a T12 schwannoma accompanied by an intratumoral hematoma.

Osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH) is characterized not only by ischemic bone tissue necrosis but also by cartilage degeneration, which plays an essential role in the pathogenesis of ONFH. The molecular communication between tissues contributes to disease progression, however the communication between cartilage and subchondral bone in the progression of ONFH remains unclear. In this study, we integrated transcriptomic data from ONFH cartilage and subchondral bone, exploring common differentially expressed genes (DEGs), pathway and function enrichment analyses, the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network, and hub genes to comprehensively study molecular integration.

Oxidative stress, caused by an imbalance between the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the body's intrinsic antioxidant defenses, plays a critical role in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's. Beyond these conditions, recent evidence indicates that dysregulated redox balance is implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and anxiety disorders. Preclinical and clinical studies have demonstrated the potential of antioxidants, such as N-acetylcysteine, sulforaphane, alpha-lipoic acid, L-carnitine, ascorbic acid, selenocompounds, flavones and zinc, in alleviating neuropsychiatric symptoms by mitigating excitotoxicity, enhancing synaptic plasticity, reducing microglial overactivation and promoting synaptogenesis.

The unique mating behavior of Bittacidae has been extensively studied, yet the mechanisms underlying internal sperm transport and temporary storage before mating remain enigmatic. Herein, we aim to elucidate these mechanisms by investigating the fine structure of the ejaculatory duct, which serves for sperm transport and temporary storage. The ultrastructure of the ejaculatory duct of Terrobittacus implicatus (Mecoptera: Bittacidae) was examined by light and transmission electron microscopy for the first time in this study.

Cancer vaccines are promising therapeutic approaches to enhance specific T-cell immunity against most solid tumors. By stimulating anti-tumor immunity, clearing minimal residual disease, and minimizing adverse effects, these vaccines target tumor cells and are effective when combined with immune checkpoint blockade or other immunotherapies. However, the development of tumor cell-based vaccines faces quality issues due to poor immunogenicity, tumor heterogeneity, a suppressive tumor immune microenvironment, and ineffective delivery methods.

Purpose: This study compared the timing effects of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICIs) administration on the efficacy and safety of concurrent chemoradiotherapy for cervical cancer.
Methods: This study included patients with advanced cervical cancer who received concurrent chemoradiotherapy with ICIs. The patients were divided into early-application (n=51) and late-application groups (n=56) according to the ICI application timing.

Aims: To assess the efficacy and safety of cofrogliptin for impaired glucose tolerance (IGT).
Methods: In this multicenter, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 2 trial, IGT patients were randomized 1:1:1 to receive cofrogliptin 10 mg, cofrogliptin 25 mg or placebo once biweekly. The primary endpoint was the change from baseline in glucose total AUC during meal tolerance test (MTT) at week 12.

Purpose: Mixed formulation of fosrolapitant and palonosetron (PALO), HR20013, is a novel fixed-dose intravenous antiemetic combination that could simultaneously antagonize neurokinin-1 and 5-hydroxytryptamine-3 receptors. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of HR20013 plus dexamethasone (DEX) versus fosaprepitant (FAPR) plus PALO + DEX for preventing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in patients receiving highly emetogenic chemotherapy (HEC).
Methods: This is a noninferiority study.

Alpha-synuclein (α-syn) is a major pathological marker of Parkinson's disease (PD), and its abnormal expression and aggregation lead to dopaminergic neuron degeneration, in which oxidative stress plays an important role. However, the exact molecular mechanism by which α-syn causes PD remains unclear. In this study, exogenous α-syn, also known as α-syn preformed fibrils (α-syn PFFs), was used to construct in vivo and in vitro models of PD.

PurposeGlaucoma is an irreversible eye disease that causes blindness, which not only causes visual impairment and economic burden to patients, but also increases the social burden. This study aimed to estimate the global burden of glaucoma due to metabolic risk over the past 30 years.MethodsThe number and rate of deaths, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), and age-standardized rates (ASRs) for metabolic risk factors-induced glaucoma were extracted.

Breast cancer (BC) remains one of the most prevalent and deadly malignancies among women globally. A deeper understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving BC progression and metastasis is essential for the development of effective therapeutic strategies. While traditional chemokine receptors are well known for their roles in immune cell migration and positioning, atypical chemokine receptors (ACKRs) have recently gained attention as key modulators in cancer-related processes.

Digestive system cancers rank among the most prevalent malignant tumors, maintaining persistently high incidence and mortality rates. Notch signaling activity, often aberrant in esophageal, gastric, hepatic, pancreatic, and colorectal cancers, plays a pivotal role in the initiation, progression, and therapy resistance of these malignancies. As a highly conserved pathway, Notch signaling is integral to cell differentiation, survival, proliferation, stem cell renewal, development, and morphogenesis.

LncRNAs are reported to participate in multiple biological and pathological processes, including renal fibrosis due to obstructive nephropathy. However, the function and mechanisms of each lncRNA in this context differ. In this study, we created a fibrosis model in vitro using TGF-β1 treatment and in vivo through unilateral ureteral obstruction.
