Chronic kidney diseases are attributed to a variety of etiologies, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, vascular diseases, cystic kidney diseases, chronic tubulo-interstitial diseases, chronic pyelonephritis, and glomerular diseases. Simple nephrectomy is indicated when the loss of renal function in a unilateral non-functional kidney is permanent in a persistently symptomatic patient. Background & Objective: Evidence-based medicine has shown that patients with similar risk factors, stages, and therapy often have different clinical outcomes, highlighting the heterogeneity of breast cancer. In a quest for a better, cost-effective approach, researchers proposed the selection of surrogate IHC markers such as cyclin D1 and claudin-1 for the prognosis of breast cancer patients, supplementing the traditional ER, PR, and HER2/neu receptor.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital in northern India and included 50 cases of invasive breast carcinoma obtained from mastectomies, wide local excisions, and biopsies diagnosed over 4 years.

Introduction: The imbalance between remineralization and demineralization leads to the formation of secondary caries. Fluoride-releasing ability has been the characteristic property of glass ionomer cement (GIC), but it is uncertain if this property alone will be sufficient for the cessation of the growth of the organisms. Therefore, a restorative material with additional bacteriostatic properties needs to be introduced.

The lipid-based drug delivery system (LBDDS) is a well-established technique that is anticipated to bring about comprehensive transformations in the pharmaceutical field, impacting the management and administration of drugs, as well as treatment and diagnosis. Various LBDDSs verified to be an efficacious mechanism for monitoring hypertension systems are SEDDS (self-nano emulsifying drug delivery), nanoemulsion, microemulsions, vesicular systems (transferosomes and liposomes), and solid lipid nanoparticles. LBDDSs overcome the shortcomings that are associated with antihypertensive agents because around fifty percent of the antihypertensive agents experience a few drawbacks including short half-life because of hepatic first-pass metabolism, poor aqueous solubility, low permeation rate, and undesirable side effects.

September 2022

Molecular Phytodiagnostic Laboratory, Department of Studies in Botany, University of Mysore, Manasagangotri, Mysuru, Karnataka 570 006 India.

Potato Spindle Tuber Viroid (PSTVd) is a non-coding, infectious, small, circular RNA known to cause disease in agricultural and horticultural plants. In the present work, an investigation was conducted in the southern districts of Karnataka state to assess the possible pospiviroid infections on tomato plants that are considered natural hosts for viroids. A total of 83 tomato samples showing disease symptoms (virus or viroid-like) along with healthy ones were collected and subjected to viroid detection by conventional Reverse Transcriptase Polymer Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) using universal (Pospi1-RE/Pospi1-FW) and a specific set of primers (3H1/2H1).
