Maintaining a positive mindset is important for leadership effectiveness and may even be more important in times of a crisis because such a mindset contributes to organizational survival and resilience. In this study, we examined whether leaders' positive mindset helped to mitigate the harmful effects of the COVID-19 crisis on organizations and if so, how. To address this issue, we conducted an empirical study through LinkedIn with 165 participants working in various organizations in Canada.

Conformational ensemble generation and the search for the global minimum conformation are important problems in computational chemistry. In this work, a variant on the conformer-rotamer ensemble sampling tool (CREST) iterative metadynamics (iMTD) algorithm designed for determining structural ensembles and energetics of noncovalent clusters of flexible molecules is presented. We term this new algorithm a low-energy diversity-enhanced variant on CREST, or LEDE-CREST.

Context: Youth with chronic health conditions experience challenges during their transition to adult care. Those with marginalized identities likely experience further disparities in care as they navigate structural barriers throughout transition.
Objectives: This scoping review aims to identify the social and structural drivers of health (SSDOH) associated with outcomes for youth transitioning to adult care, particularly those who experience structural marginalization, including Black, Indigenous, and 2-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, and others youth.

A multitude of natural and synthetic chemicals are present in our environment.Through the study of a compound's cytotoxicity, researchers can carefully set regulations regarding how much of a certain chemical in the ambient environment is tolerable. In the past, research has focused on point measurements such as the LD50.

One of the key functions of a clinical nursing faculty is selecting patient assignments for undergraduate nursing students in the clinical setting. However, there is limited existence of evidence or strong scholarship that informs clinical nursing faculty on this specific process. In particular, they are left wondering regarding the factors, variables and methods that can be considered in this process.

Background: Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease, a progressive hereditary peripheral neuropathy, leads to muscle weakness, wasting, and sensory and motor nerve deprivation. The two main types of CMT are CMT1 (demyelinating) and CMT2 (axonal). Initial findings include foot deformities and sensory changes with progression to altered gait, diminished reflexes, and muscle wasting and weakness.

We consider a model based on the logistic equation and linear kinetics to study the effect of toxicants with various initial concentrations on a cell population. To account for parameter uncertainties, in our model the coefficients of the linear and the quadratic terms of the logistic equation are affected by noise. We show that the stochastic model has a unique positive solution and we find conditions for extinction and persistence of the cell population.

The effect of various toxicants on growth/death and morphology of human cells is investigated using the xCELLigence Real-Time Cell Analysis High Troughput in vitro assay. The cell index is measured as a proxy for the number of cells, and for each test substance in each cell line, time-dependent concentration response curves (TCRCs) are generated. In this paper we propose a mathematical model to study the effect of toxicants with various initial concentrations on the cell index.

Background: Real Time Cell Analysis (RTCA) technology is used to monitor cellular changes continuously over the entire exposure period. Combining with different testing concentrations, the profiles have potential in probing the mode of action (MOA) of the testing substances.
Results: In this paper, we present machine learning approaches for MOA assessment.

The prediction of conformational b-cell epitopes plays an important role in immunoinformatics. Several computational methods are proposed on the basis of discrimination determined by the solvent-accessible surface between epitopes and non-epitopes, but the performance of existing methods is far from satisfying. In this paper, depth functions and the k-th surface convex hull are used to analyze epitopes and exposed non-epitopes.

It has been suggested that quantum coherence in the selectivity filter of ion channel may play a key role in fast conduction and selectivity of ions. However, it has not been clearly elucidated yet why classical coherence is not sufficient for this purpose. In this paper, we investigate the classical vibrational coherence between carbonyl groups oscillations in the selectivity filter of KcsA ion channels based on the data obtained from molecular dynamics simulations.

In 1920, John B. Watson and Rosalie Rayner attempted to condition a phobia in a young infant named "Albert B." In 2009, Beck, Levinson, and Irons proposed that Little Albert, as he is now known, was actually an infant named Douglas Merritte.

A significant transformation occurring in the continuing care industry is an attempt to shift the culture from impersonal institutions into true person-centred care (PCC) homes. This approach re-orients the facility's values, attitudes, norms and hierarchies while creating flexible role descriptions to promote collaborative teamwork. PCC practices will require healthcare teams to develop new approaches that empower residents and families to become partners in the development of a plan of care.

Left neglect following right hemisphere injury is a debilitating disorder that has proven extremely difficult to rehabilitate. Traditional models of neglect have focused on impaired spatial attention as the core deficit and as such, most rehabilitation methods have tried to improve attentional processes. However, many of these techniques (e.

Alcohol abuse can lead to severe psychological and physiological damage. Little is known, however, about the relative impact of a small, daily dose of alcohol (daily-moderate schedule) versus a large, once per week dose (weekly-binge schedule). In this study, we examined the effect of each of these schedules on behavioural measures of anxiety in zebrafish (Danio rerio).

Critically ill patients are at increased risk of developing delirium, which has been considered one of the most common complications of intensive care unit (ICU) hospitalization. Despite the high occurrence of delirium in the ICU, researchers have shown it is consistently overlooked and often undiagnosed. An understanding of delirium and the three clinical subtypes of hyperactive, hypoactive and mixed-type delirium that exist are key to early detection and treatment.

A route is described for the enantioselective synthesis of (R)-(-)-complanine, a marine natural product isolated from Eurythoe complanata, and known to be a causative agent in inflammation. An organocatalytic, asymmetric oxyamination of a homoconjugated all-Z-dienal intermediate provides versatile and efficient access to the natural product.

Recent research reveals a need for improved leadership capabilities among nurses, from the front-line nurse to those in management capacities. This "op-ed" piece is a discussion arising from the results of a study examining two groups of high school students: one participating in a leadership training program and one not participating. With their responses, these students demonstrated a stereotypical view of the work of nurses and were not interested in pursuing a career in nursing.

The use of the high-fidelity human patient simulator (HPS)-based clinical scenario in undergraduate nursing education is a powerful learning tool, well suited to modern nursing students' preference for immersive construction of knowledge through the provision of contextually rich reality-based practice and social discourse. The purpose of this study was to explore the social-psychological processes that occur within HPS-based clinical scenarios. Grounded theory method was used to study students and faculty sampled from a Western Canadian baccalaureate nursing program.
