Honeycomb structures are widely constructed as cores in sandwich panels with lightweight characteristics and excellent out-of-plane properties. However, their in-plane performances are significantly inferior. This research proposed a novel isotropy-enhanced honeycomb (IEH) with interleaved layers, which is constructed by offsetting the initial seed distributions across layers and then generating hexagonal cells via Voronoi tessellation.

This article analyzes the motives of Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI) in Africa and the impact of the institutional quality of the host country for the period between 2003 and 2022 from both static and dynamic perspectives by using the OLS, PPML, and GMM methods. The results show that: China has obvious market-, and efficiency-seeking motives, but weak resource- and strategic asset-seeking motives. There is a tipping point for market- and efficiency-seeking motives.

Recycling extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs) from excess sludge in wastewater treatment plants has garnered significant research attention. Membrane separation offers a promising approach for EPS concentration; however, membrane fouling remains a critical challenge. Previous studies demonstrate that Ca addition effectively mitigates membrane fouling.

The study of gyroscopic phononic crystals (GPCs) opens new directions for topological acoustics. Based on the propagation of torsional waves in the structure, a GPC with lattice of concave hexagonal is proposed by introducing the gyroscope element into the concave hexagonal infinite periodic structure. The bandgap characteristics of GPC are analyzed, and the mechanisms of opening the Dirac cone and generating topological edge states due to changes in gyroscope torque are discussed.

The ubiquity of conventional radical-mediated oxidation pathways in ozone-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) fundamentally limits their practical efficacy, particularly in achieving efficient organic degradation while minimizing interference from complex water matrices. To address this challenge, a novel core-shell nanoreactor (FeMn-700) was constructed through controlled pyrolysis of FeMn Prussian blue analogue (PBA) precursors for catalytic ozonation. This architecture creates a confined microenvironment where synergistic interactions between Fe/Mn active sites and reactants enable surface-mediated oxidation mechanisms.

In conventional studies, radicals and nonradicals were often considered independent mechanisms for organic pollutant oxidation, with their potential interaction between radicals and nonradicals largely overlooked in Fenton-like reactions. Herein, Cu-CoO catalysts (x wt% Cu-CoO/OVs) featuring bifunctional bonding centers were fabricated, which enabled simultaneous co-capture of electron-rich contaminants and peroxymonosulfate (PMS) at their interfaces. The optimized 0.

Biological degradation effectively removes benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) from contaminated soil; however, knowledge regarding the contributions of plant absorption, microbial degradation, and volatilization to BaP removal remains limited. In this study, the BaP removal pathway in contaminated soil was investigated. The structural evolution of the microbial community in contaminated soil was revealed using a comparative experimental study.

Toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (TEX) are the primary pollutants released from outdoor synthetic rubber tracks and can be easily absorbed in the respiratory tract and skin, leading to harmful health effects. Exploring the mass transfer characteristics of TEX emitted from tracks and its effects on adolescents at different heights is thus important. In this study, the key emission parameters were determined via environmental chamber experiments.

Under the dual impact of rapid urbanization and climate change, flooding has become one of the major natural disasters in urban areas. Urban stormwater systems face challenges such as limited capacity, inefficient connectivity, and inadequate control measures. Traditional stormwater management systems often fail to balance flood risk reduction with cost-effectiveness.

Bioretention is one of the widely used green stormwater infrastructural measures for the efficient removal of pollutants from stormwater runoff. However, the multimedia fate of carbon and nitrogen within these systems is still not completely understood. In this work, we employed C and N isotope tracers to investigate the chemical transformation of carbon and nitrogen across different media layers in the bioretention.

Most existing mobile LIDAR measurement systems use a GNSS/INS combination method for attitude positioning. This method requires a constant GNSS signal to correct the IMU's positioning and attitude. In the absence of GNSS signals, the IMU's positioning accuracy rapidly deteriorates from the centimeter to sub-meter, or even meter levels.

To accurately capture the dynamic displacement of super-tall buildings under complex conditions, this study proposes a data fusion algorithm that integrates NRBO-FMD optimization with Adaptive Robust Kalman Filtering (ARKF). The NRBO-FMD method preprocesses GNSS and accelerometer data to mitigate GNSS multipath effects, unmodeled errors, and high-frequency noise in accelerometer signals. Subsequently, ARKF fuses the preprocessed data to achieve high-precision displacement reconstruction.

Understanding factors associated with successful adherence and maintenance of weight loss interventions is important to potentially increase efficacy. Activity spaces and environmental exposures are two understudied factors that may be associated with intervention adherence and outcomes. Women with overweight or obesity (n = 498) from two weight loss intervention studies, Reach for Health and Metabolic, Exercise, and Nutrition at University of California San Diego, wore accelerometer and Global Positioning System (GPS) devices for 1 week at baseline and at 6-month follow up.

Photocatalysis has been recognized as a viable technology for pollutant degradation in wastewater, owing to its ability to generate reactive radicals under photoirradiation. Among these, sulfate radicals have been attracting significant attention due to their strong oxidizing properties; yet the specific mechanism of action has remained elusive thus far. In this study, defective NH-MIL-88B (DNMB) is prepared via a facile hydrothermal procedure in the presence of potassium sodium tartrate and found to facilitate the production of sulfate radicals from sulfate anions under visible light irradiation, due to partial reduction of Fe to Fe in the NMB skeleton by the added tartrate that enriches the Fe/Fe redox couples, in addition to other reactive species like superoxide radicals and hydroxy radicals.

Anaerobic membrane distillation bioreactor (AnMDBR), which possesses several distinctive advantages such as high-quality water production, desalination and methanogenesis, shows enormous potential in saline organic wastewater (SAOW) treatment. However, salt accumulation in the reactor may deactivate anaerobic organisms and impede methanogenesis. In this work, effects of salt accumulation were comprehensively investigated regarding pollutant removal performance and methanogenesis in AnMDBRs over a 30-d operation.

Positioning information greatly enhances the convenience of people's lives and the efficiency of societal operations. However, due to the impact of complex indoor environments, GNSS signals suffer from multipath effects, blockages, and attenuation, making it difficult to provide reliable positioning services indoors. Smartphone indoor positioning and navigation is a crucial technology for enabling indoor location services.

To bridge the modality gap between camera images and LiDAR point clouds in autonomous driving systems-a critical challenge exacerbated by current fusion methods' inability to effectively integrate cross-modal features-we propose the Cross-Modal Fusion (CMF) framework. This attention-driven architecture enables hierarchical multi-sensor data fusion, achieving state-of-the-art performance in semantic segmentation tasks. The CMF framework first projects point clouds onto the camera coordinates through the use of perspective projection to provide spatio-depth information for RGB images.

The simultaneous partial nitrification, anammox, and denitrification (SNAD) process is widely applied for treating high-ammonia wastewater, but its application to low-ammonia organic wastewater has been scarcely explored. In this study, a partial nitrification and denitrification coupled with simultaneous partial nitrification, anammox, and denitrification (PND-SNAD) system was established to treat organic wastewater with low ammonia concentration. Experimental results revealed that sulfide at 5 mg/L selectively inhibited nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) but had little effect on ammonium-oxidizing bacteria (AOB).
