Anti-metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) encephalitis is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by varied neurological symptoms, often associated with limbic syndromes. We report the case of a 57-year-old female who presented with obvious ataxia, and then cognitive impairment and behavioral changes. MRI revealed cerebellar dentate nucleus and basal ganglia lesions with enhancement, which spontaneously regressed on follow-up imaging-a rare phenomenon in mGluR5 encephalitis. Diagnosis was confirmed by the presence of serum mGluR5 antibodies. Extensive evaluations excluded underlying malignancies. Immunotherapy, including corticosteroids and intravenous immunoglobulin, led to significant clinical and radiological improvement. This case highlights the unique cerebellar dentate nucleus and basal ganglia involvement and spontaneous partial reduction of lesions in mGluR5 encephalitis, expanding the clinical spectrum of this condition. Early recognition and immunotherapy are crucial for favorable outcomes. Further studies are needed to elucidate the mechanisms behind spontaneous partial lesion regression in autoimmune encephalitis.

Although previous studies have investigated the degradation of sulfide electrolytes on commonly used copper (Cu) and stainless steel (SS) current collectors, the impact of spontaneously formed surface oxides, such as copper oxide (CuO/CuO) and chromium oxide (CrO), on interfacial stability remains underexplored.

Methods: This cross-sectional study enrolled 55 adults who underwent polysomnography at the Ajou University Hospital Sleep Center between February 2021 and September 2022. They were volunteers who spontaneously breathed room air.

Background: To explore the value of the diaphragm thickness fraction (TF) and diaphragm mobility (DM) measured by ultrasound for predicting ventilator withdrawal success in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) after cardiac surgery.
Methods: This study included 246 patients undergoing the spontaneous breathing trial. Diaphragmatic function was evaluated by ultrasound, including the diaphragm thickness at the end of calm breathing (thickness of the diaphragm at functional residual capacity [TdiFRC]) and the maximum diaphragm thickness at the end of inspiration (thickness of the diaphragm at full vital capacity [TdiFVC]); TF=(TdiFVC-TdiFRC)/TdiFRC×100%.

The SpyTag-SpyCatcher system, developed by the Howarth lab, is based on splitting the CnaB2 domain from Streptococcus pyogenes into two parts: a 13-amino-acid SpyTag and a 116-amino-acid SpyCatcher. Upon incubation, they spontaneously form a covalent isopeptide bond between Asp7 (SpyTag) and Lys31 (SpyCatcher). This study explores whether the interaction specificity can be modulated by altering hydrophobic residues within the SpyCatcher binding pocket and corresponding SpyTag positions, potentially to create orthogonal SpyTag-SpyCatcher pairs.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of the Pan-Immune-Inflammation Value (PIV) on the prognosis of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and to develop and validate a nomogram for identifying patients with a poor prognosis following ICH.
Methods: We retrospectively collected the clinical data of 742 patients with ICH admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from September 2018 to March 2024. A modified Rankin Scale score > 3 at 90 days after discharge was defined as a poor short-term prognosis.
