Article Abstract

Glycolaldehyde (GA) is widely used as a photosynthetic inhibitor to suppress metabolic reactions. We aimed to evaluate the effects of GA on the growth of and metabolic flux distribution in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. GA significantly inhibited the growth [half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) = 244 μm] and metabolic flux through the Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle without decrease in flux of the pentose phosphate pathway.

Objective: Interleukin-17-producing CD4 Th17 cells contribute to the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, including crescentic glomerulonephritis. Although ADAM9 has been reported to contribute to organ inflammation, the mechanism remains poorly understood. The goal of the current study was to investigate how ADAM9 alters T cell metabolism to promote the generation of Th17 cell differentiation.

The nitrogen regulator AreA modulates lipid metabolism through uga2 in Mucor circinelloides.

Oleaginous filamentous fungus Mucor circinelloides harbors a GATA transcription activator AreA, which regulates nitrogen metabolism. In our previous study, deletion of AreA resulted in increased lipid production, while its overexpression reduced lipid synthesis. Although it is not a direct lipogenesis regulator, AreA influences metabolic flux by modulating nitrogen utilization pathways, which in turn affects carbon distribution.

Untangling metabolic interactions of a nongrowing, hydrogen producing synthetic coculture through a multispecies metabolic flux analysis.

Bioengineering Department, Unidad Profesional Interdisciplinaria de Biotecnología, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico City 07340, Mexico. Electronic address:

In this study a methodology to elucidate metabolic interactions that enhance hydrogen (H) production in cocultures under nongrowing conditions is presented. Core metabolic models of Rhodopseudomonas palustris and Clostridium butyricum were integrated to perform a multispecies metabolic flux analysis (mMFA), constrained by experimentally measured yields. Flux distributions were clustered, and thermodynamically favorable solutions were identified.

While Dynamic Flux Balance Analysis provides a powerful framework for simulating metabolic behavior, incorporating operating conditions such as pH and temperature, which profoundly impact monoclonal antibodies production, remains challenging. This study presents an advanced dFBA model that integrates kinetic constraints formulated as functions of pH and temperature to predict CHO cell metabolism under varying operational conditions. The model was validated against data from 20 fed-batch experiments conducted in Ambr®250 bioreactors.

Nanoplastics (NPs) in marine ecosystems have garnered increasing attention for their interference with the physiological processes of aquatic organisms. An in-depth examination of the toxicological responses of Nannochloropsis oceanica, a species vital to marine ecosystems, is essential due to the crucial role of lipid metabolism in carbon sequestration and energy allocation in microalgae. This study analyzed the toxicological responses of N.
