Article Abstract

We report on the electrical characteristics of AlGaN/GaN high-electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) as a passivation capping layer. The HEMTs with h-BN layers showed an increase in current drainage and 103-times reduction in the gate-leakage current compared with those of conventional unpassivated HEMTs. Moreover, the extrinsic transconductance and the pulse responses were improved due to the reduced charge-trapping effect at the surface of HEMTs. From our observations, the h-BN can be used as a passivation capping layer for high-power electronic devices.

The introduction of two-dimensional (2D) perovskite layers on top of three-dimensional (3D) perovskite films enhances the performance and stability of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the electronic effect of the spacer cation and the quality of the 2D capping layer are critical factors in achieving the required results. In this study, we compared two fluorinated salts: 4-(trifluoromethyl) benzamidine hydrochloride (4TF-BA·HCl) and 4-fluorobenzamidine hydrochloride (4F-BA·HCl) to engineer the 3D/2D perovskite films.

Structural and magnetic properties of ultra-small tetrahedron-shaped iron oxide nanoparticles were investigated using density functional theory. Tetrahedral and truncated tetrahedral models were considered in both non-functionalized form and with surfaces passivated by pseudo-hydrogen atoms. The focus on these two morphologies reflects their experimental relevance at this size scale and the feasibility of performing fully relaxed, atomistically resolved first-principles simulations.

Low-dimensional perovskites have been demonstrated repeatedly to improve the performance of perovskite photovoltaic devices in both light-to-electricity conversion efficiency and device durability. In this work, the ionic liquid (IL) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate (EMIMHSO) is innovatively introduced as a capping layer, which interacts with the residual PbI on the 3D perovskite top surface to generate the 1D perovskite, EMIMPbI. By adjusting the concentration of the IL, 1D perovskite formations with distinct morphologies is achieved.

Metal halide perovskite quantum dots (PQDs), like formamidinium lead triiodide (FAPbI), hold significant promise for next-generation photovoltaics. Surface manipulation of PQDs has been extensively reported to be crucial to their photovoltaic performance due to the dynamic binding of capping long-chain ligands. In this work, an efficient surface engineering strategy employing a multifunctional fluorinated pseudo-halide anion ligand, hexafluorophosphate (PF ) is reported for achieving efficient FAPbI PQD solar cells.

Silica coating is widely employed to improve the stability of perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) as light conversion phosphors. When used in combination with micro-light-emitting diodes (micro-LEDs) for next-generation displays, however, most silica-coated PQDs (Si-PQDs) face some challenges: (i) polarity mismatch between silica and organic solvent undermines the fabrication of the phosphor film by unstable PQD ink; (ii) aggregation-induced large particle size hinders the micron-scale processability. Herein, we report a ligand-assisted silica-coating strategy to prepare highly monodispersed Si-PQDs for micro-LEDs.
