Pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) is a chronic condition characterized by pathological remodeling of the vascular structures and poor clinical prognosis. Therefore, early interventional treatment is essential to slow disease progression, improve survival rates, and enhance quality of life. In animal models of pulmonary hypertension, analyzing the remodeling of the pulmonary artery tissue and collagen deposition usually involves computed tomography and tissue staining.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate outcomes for right aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery (LSA) in children.

Methods: This retrospective review included consecutive children undergoing repair through left thoracotomy from 2018 to 2023. Preoperative computed tomography angiography assessed airway compression severity by the tracheal cross-sectional area ratio at vascular ring level (S) and at thoracic inlet (S), with a lower S:S ratio indicating more severe airway compression.

This study aims to investigate the effect of essential oil of Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma on microglial pyroptosis and decipher the underlying mechanism. BV-2 cells were treated with 1 μg·mL~(-1) lipopolysaccharide(LPS) and 10 μmol·L~(-1) nigericin sodium salt for the modeling of pyroptosis. The cells were treated with different doses of essential oil of Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma, and then the cell viability and apoptosis were examined by the CCK-8 assay and flow cytometry, respectively.

Background: Heat shock protein A4 (HSPA4) belongs to molecular chaperone protein family which plays important roles within variable cellular activities, including cancer initiation and progression. However, the prognostic and immunological significance of HSPA4 in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) has not been revealed yet.

Aim: To explore the prognostic and immunological roles of HSPA4 to identify a novel prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target for LUAD.

Article Synopsis
  • Community-acquired bacterial meningitis (CABM) is a significant health issue in children, particularly in Zhejiang Province, with varied incidence and pathogen types based on age.
  • A study analyzed 918 CABM cases from January 2019 to December 2020, revealing a relatively low annual incidence rate and a cure rate of 94.4%, though there was a notable economic burden and a 1.4% case fatality rate.
  • Key pathogens identified were E. coli and GBS in infants under 3 months, while S. pneumoniae was the most common in older children, indicating a need for targeted prevention and treatment strategies.

Wind power has been valued by countries for its renewability and cleanness and has become most of the focus of energy development in all countries. However, due to the uncertainty and volatility of wind power generation, making the grid-connected wind power system presents some serious challenges. Improving the accuracy of wind power prediction has become the focus of current research.

An anhydride-promoted traceless hydrazine-I/Br exchange strategy is reported, where hydrazine hydrate and cyclic/linear iodonium, including rarely explored cyclic bromonium, are converted to benzo[]cinnolines/azobenzenes in one pot. The reaction proceeds through diacylation (first and second C─N formation), ,'-diarylation (third and fourth C─N formation), and deacylation/oxidation (2 C─N cleavages and 1 N═N formation). The reaction mechanism is investigated by isolating multiple intermediates and kinetic studies.

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignant tumor worldwide with a poor prognosis. Recent studies have shown that the occurrence, development and prognosis of liver cancer are closely related to tumor microenvironment (TME) and tumor immune infiltration.

Methods: Therefore, important information on various diseases can be obtained from public databases such as The Cancer Gene Atlas (TCGA), and ideas or schemes that may be effective for the treatment of various diseases can be screened and analyzed by screening various conditions.

Objective: To investigate the main pharmacological basis and mechanism of action of Gujiansan in the treatment of steroid-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head (SANFH).

Methods: The active constituents and targets of Gujiansan were screened by using TCMSP and other databases, and relevant disease targets were obtained by analyzing the microarray of SANFH in the GEO database. The intersection of the two was taken to obtain the potential targets of Gujiansan for the treatment of SANFH, and key active constituents were screened with the "active constituent-target" network constructed by the Cytoscape software; then, the STRING database was used to construct the protein interaction network to screen the key targets.

We present the complete mitochondrial genome sequence of a recently described new leech species named Yang & Bolotov 2021 collected in central China. The mitochondrial genome is 14,984 bp in length and consists of 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, and 22 transfer RNA genes, all of which are encoded on a single strand. It exhibited a strong A + T bias of 72.
