The unique Fe coordination environment in the FeOCl catalyst confers superior reducible electronic properties, rendering them attractive Fenton-like active sites. DFT calculations reveal that the U-shaped coordinated Fe sites formed with 50% terminal hydroxyl coverage exhibit the best HO activation performance, which allows the adsorbed HO to form a ·OH directly with much lower activation energy. Herein, a crystal facet protection strategy induced by rapid high-temperature annealing is developed to synthesize FeOCl with high exposure of Fe atoms while regulating the surface hydroxyl coverage.

Phenolic acids have a positive effect on the processing quality of myofibrillar protein (MP) gels. However, in this study, the addition of ferulic acid (FA) did not have a positive effect on MP gels. To address this issue, we performed the addition and observed the effects on the structure of MP gels by both surface coating and internal cross-linking: addition of FA alone, addition of α-cyclodextrin (CD) to encapsulate FA (MP-FA/CD), and addition of Fe(III) to form a metal-phenolic network structure (Fe @MP-FA) and a metal-cyclodextrin-phenolic acid structure (Fe@MP-FA /CD).

Electrocatalytically reducing NO to N is of great significance for environmental remediation and global nitrogen cycling. However, it is currently hindered by low N selectivity since adsorbate N-intermediates are hard to migrate and couple each other during the N-N coupling step. Herein, an in situ assembly strategy was taken to attach Pd@CuO nanoparticles with CuO nanowire arrays to form an equipotential cathode CuO-Pd@CuO, which optimized N selectivity to 91%, much higher than that of directly loaded Pd-Cu cathode (55%).
