sp. TNS106 produces ristomycin (ristocetin), a type III glycopeptide antibiotic (GPA) featuring extensive glycosyl modifications and potent antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive pathogens. Unlike the well-documented nonribosomal peptide synthetase-assembled peptide scaffold, the timing and specificity of its postassembly tailoring steps remain poorly understood.

Satellite-to-ground optical communication (SGOC) employs lasers as carriers, providing high bandwidth, low implementation costs, and enhanced security, making it a promising technology for future satellite network deployments. However, variations in the satellite's initial relative state during operation can result in orbital deviations and atmospheric turbulence, both of which adversely affect the SGOC system's communication performance. To address these challenges, this paper examines SGOC performance under the combined effects of satellite orbital deviations and atmospheric turbulence.

FBPG is a novelly reported protein glutaminase derived from the marine bacterium Flavobacterium, exhibiting unique catalytic properties in the deamidation of plant proteins. However, its industrial application has been hindered by low specific activity, lack of an efficient expression system, and expression of its proenzyme form. To end those shortcomings, we optimized charge distribution near the active site of FBPG by site-directed mutation.

Non-invasive, real-time, and continuous monitoring of trace amounts of glucose in near-neutral biofluids is significant for the daily care and treatment of diabetic patients or people with suboptimal health status. Despite improved sensing performance with novel low-dimensional materials or porous structures in various enzymatic and non-enzymatic electrochemical glucose sensors, they still suffer from high cost, poor long-term stability, and performance fluctuations in varied temperature and pH. This work synergistically combines an Au-modified porous laser-induced graphene (LIG) gate electrode with an organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) to create a flexible non-enzymatic glucose sensor.

The development of bioactive scaffolds capable of orchestrating osteogenesis while modulating inflammatory responses remains a critical challenge in bone tissue engineering. To address this unmet need, we engineered a multifunctional composite scaffold through precise integration of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), type I collagen, zinc-imbued metal-organic frameworks (Zn-MOFs), and macrophage chemotactic factor (MCF) via extrusion-based 3D printing. Systematic biological assessments in vitro revealed the scaffold's remarkable osteoinductive capacity, evidenced by significant upregulation of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity (2.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the associations of functional performance, sarcopenia, and components of sarcopenia with the onset of chronic kidney disease (CKD), while also determining the optimal predictive factor.

Methods: This observational multicenter study included 8,647 community-dwelling adults. Activities of daily living (ADL) scale, physical performance, and sarcopenia were assessed at baseline, and participants were followed to track CKD incidents.

Flavonoids are a diverse class of plant polyphenols with essential roles in development, defense, and environmental adaptation, as well as significant applications in medicine, nutrition, and cosmetics. However, their naturally low abundance in plant tissues poses a major barrier to large-scale utilization. This review provides a comprehensive and forward-looking synthesis of flavonoid biosynthesis, regulation, transport, and yield enhancement strategies.

Health issues among school-age children have emerged as a global public health concern. These conditions often do not occur in isolation but tend to cluster, indicating a widespread issue of multimorbidity among this population. This study examined the prevalence and clustering of multimorbidity among school-aged school students in the Yangzhou district.

The incorporation of MAX phase interface layers into silicon carbide (SiC) composites has been shown to significantly enhance mechanical properties, particularly under irradiation conditions. However, conventional Ti-based MAX phases suffer from thermal instability and tend to decompose at high temperatures. In this work, an ScSnC coating was successfully synthesized onto the surface of SiC fibers (SiC) via an in situ reaction between metals and pyrolytic carbon (PyC) in a molten salt environment.

Interpenetrated pillar-layered metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), distinguished by their readily tunable pore architectures and functionalities, hold particular promise for separating molecules with similar physicochemical characteristics. Here, we report two isoreticular interpenetrated pillar-layered MOFs, designated as M-PTTB-BPY (M = Zn, Co). They exhibit the same connectivity with slightly different linker distortion.

Background: The global shortage of anesthesiologists and increasing surgical demand have driven the adoption of task-shifting strategies, including delegating pre-anesthesia evaluations to registered nurses. While some results have been reported in high-income countries, limited evidence exists regarding the feasibility and safety of such practices in low- and middle-income countries with developing nurse education systems, such as China.

Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of pre-anesthesia evaluations conducted by nurses who had undertaken education in anesthesia in a specialized cancer hospital in China, using the assessment results of senior anesthesiologists as the reference standard.

Background And Objective: Hyperinflammatory response in early stage of sepsis was the key factor leading to multi-organ injury. Therefore, exploring an effective therapy to attenuate or reverse hyperinflammation was the priority of sepsis treatment. Previous study from our team showed that recombinant human interleukin-11 (rhIL-11) was a promising anti-inflammation cytokine in sepsis.

Background: Advances in ovarian tissue cryopreservation offer new hope for young hematologic cancer patients. However, the risk of cancer cell reintroduction during transplantation remains a major concern, necessitating both effective tumor cell removal strategies and biocompatible scaffold development.

Methods: We characterized decellularized adipose, peritoneal, and ovarian tissue scaffolds through H&E staining, immunofluorescence, SEM, and proliferation assays.

Plant cuticles exhibit exceptional liquid repellence and self-healing properties through brush-like cutin-wax nanostructures, providing inspiration for the multifunctional slippery materials. Here, a plant cuticle-inspired solid slippery surface (PI-SSS) is introduced based on surface-grafted polymer brushes, which act as a stable molecular matrix to enhance the adhesion strength of lubricating copolymer and the substrate (≈0.96 MPa) via strong ion-dipole interactions.

The burn wounds are particularly susceptible to bacterial infection, while the hydrogel wound dressings with antibacterial property are expected to promote burn wound repairing progress. In this research, carboxymethyl cellulose bearing hydrazide groups and hemostatic polyphosphate moiety (CHP) was synthesized and cross-linked with dopamine grafted oxidized pectin (OPD) to prepare hemostatic self-healing hydrogel for burn wound repairing. Polydopamine coated graphene oxide (PGO) was loaded into the hydrogel to endow it with photothermal stimulated antibacterial property and enhanced the ROS scavenging ability, which can inhibit bacterial infection and promote tissue regeneration.

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) with unique electronic structures, high electrical conductivity and processability have shown great promise for flexible thermoelectric devices. However, the inherently high thermal conductivity of SWCNTs significantly constrains their thermoelectric performance. To overcome this limitation, this study presents a composite of SWCNTs hybridized with the strategically selected cuprous selenide (CuSe) through cold pressing.
