Schizophrenia is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Using a maternal methylazoxymethanol acetate (MAM) exposure model, we investigated behavioral, neuronal, and glial alterations in the F2 generation to explore the intergenerational effects of prenatal neurodevelopmental disruption. Our study demonstrates that prenatal MAM exposure induces the transgenerational transmission of schizophrenia-like phenotypes in F2 offspring.

Background: To evaluate vitamin D's role in thyroid autoimmunity modulation, establish evidence-based supplementation protocols, and address surgical implications in Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) care. Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent in HT patients and correlates with accelerated autoimmune progression. This review synthesizes mechanistic insights and clinical implications of vitamin D repletion in HT management.

Therefore, the development of novel strategy against sorafenib nephrotoxicity is an urgent work. Sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors such as empagliflozin have been approved for renal failure treatment.

Treatment varies depending on the condition and stage of the pressure injury. Therefore, there is a need for a friendly non-invasive assessment method for pressure injuries, as well as regular assessment and monitoring of the extent of the injury. This study used over 20,000 pressure injury images collected in the the Comprehensive Medical Data Center.

Objectives: Congenital dislocation of patella (CDP) is a rare condition and surgery is needed to treat CDP once a diagnosis is made. The 4in1 procedure includes lateral release, correction of quadriceps, Roux-Goldthwait procedure, and medial patello-femoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction. This study was aimed at evaluating the efficacy and outcome of the 4in1 procedure in the operative treatment of CDP.

Despite growing interest in LLM performance, a focused evaluation of their propensity for SL and strategies to mitigate it remains lacking.
Methods: We generated 60 clinically relevant questions ["prompts"; 20 each for alcohol use disorder (AUD), alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD), and substance use disorder (SUD)] and tested 14 LLMs.
Moonfish (Mene maculata) has been recognized as a prospective commercial species in Taiwanese waters; however, its diet and trophic ecology remain poorly understood. It was hypothesized that diet composition and trophic position (TP) vary with body size and monsoonal environmental changes. This study presents the first investigation of its feeding ecology in southwest Taiwan (SWT), focusing on seasonal and ontogenetic variation.

Historically, the resolution of traditional far-field optical imaging was constrained by the diffraction limit. The emergence of SR imaging techniques and image processing algorithms has propelled biological research into nanoscale realm.

Graft-resident mesenchymal cells (MCs) drive CLAD pathogenesis and exhibit stable, dysregulated signaling; however, the transcriptomic and epigenomic drivers behind this fibrogenic transformation remain elusive. Here, we utilize single-cell multi-omic technologies to study gene expression and chromatin accessibility of MCs from the lavage fluid of lung transplant recipients with and without CLAD, obtained either early post-transplantation or after disease onset.

It is crucial to describe and forecast cross-national health disparities in terms of years lived with disability (YLDs) for the forthcoming 15-year period. We examined and projected trends in the burden of disease and cross-national inequalities in epilepsy of unknown cause globally, by region and country from 1990 to 2036.

Assistive lower-body exoskeletons aim to improve quality of life for broad populations including older adults and people in physically exhausting manual jobs. By applying torque to augment human motion with backdrivable actuators, these devices can reduce human joint effort without restricting volitional motion. However, these backdrivable actuators are coupled by mechanical interfaces to soft tissues of the human body that together introduce resonator dynamics that can delay or diminish the torque assistance.

The recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) is recommended, but its efficacy in preventing recurrent HZ among patients with IBD is not well established.
Methods: Using data from the TriNetX Linked Network, we conducted a retrospective cohort study of adults (≥18 years) with IBD and a prior uncomplicated HZ episode.

Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model was employed to evaluate monthly dengue incidence and associated spatiotemporal hotspot patterns between May 2013 and March 2020. The combination of rainfall, temperature, population density, urbanization, building age and flood vulnerability was significantly correlated with dengue incidence in different subzones of Singapore.

While AGIB has been linked to kidney failure (KF), its burden across CKD stages remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate AGIB incidence, outcomes, and readmissions across CKD stages using the largest inpatient and readmission databases in the United States.

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are crucial components of the immune response during viral infections, yet their function and development in the late phase of sepsis remain poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the impact of prolonged sepsis on pDCs and their progenitors in cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-induced septic mice. We observed a significant reduction in both pDCs and their progenitors, alongside the presence of mature and regulatory pDCs.

FGF (fibroblast growth factor) 20 is involved in the repair of central nervous system diseases, but it has the shortcomings of short half-life and inability to penetrate the blood-brain barrier. Therefore, to overcome the drawbacks of rhFGF20 (recombinant human FGF20) and explore its role in ischemic stroke, the effects of intracerebral administration of rhFGF20 by heparin-poloxamer hydrogel (HP-rhFGF20 [heparin-poloxamer hydrogel-encapsulated rhFGF20]) in a rat stroke model were the focus of this study.
