Metal sulfides are intensively pursed as promising anode materials for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) owing to their high theoretical capacities, abundant and inexpensive raw materials, however, challenges remain in designing their structures, particularly due to the slow Na⁺ storage kinetics in individual sulfide, and unshaped and inefficient heterostructure persists the issue of low intrinsic ion conductivity. Herein, hollow triple-shell FeS/MoS@NC structure by integrating molecular and microstructural engineering is constructed. The intimate connection between FeS and MoS in FeS/MoS@NC arises from the simultaneous sulfidation of Fe(MoO).

Antibiotic contamination in the environment poses significant threats to ecosystems and public health. However, conventional methods for detecting metronidazole (MNZ) are often unsuitable for field-deployable or real-time applications due to high equipment costs, labor-intensive sample preparation, and the need for specialized expertise. To address these limitations, we developed a novel label-free ratiometric fluorescent aptasensor for the sensitive and accurate detection of MNZ in complex samples.

It is essential to explore the interactions between intrinsic ferroelectricity and ionic activities in 2D ferroelectrics for theoretically understanding and experimentally modulating device performance. Due to the tendency of Cu migration in ferroelectric copper indium thiophosphate (CIPS) and formation of Cu conductive filaments, herein, Cu-deficient CIPS (CIPS) is employed to investigate resistive switching (RS). Different from CIPS with controllable threshold switching and write-once read-many-times (WORM) behaviors, CIPS shows stable non-volatile digital and analog RS behaviors by controlling the operation voltage.

The thermoregulation of plants through the heliocaminiform effect of hollow structures is widespread but overlooked. Winter-flowering plants in subtropical regions often suffer from low temperatures; however, the reproductive adaptations of these plants are not well understood. The functional advantages of persistent calyx and labiate corolla in were studied to clarify the mechanism of flower thermoregulation via heliocaminiform structures, and to understand the reproductive adaptation of floral temperature increases in winter.

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) and ischemic hypoxic retinopathy (IHR) are leading cause of irreversible vision loss worldwide, compelled by complex microvascular dysfunction, neuroinflammation, and tissue hypoxia. Despite advances in imaging and treatment, a comprehensive understanding of cellular and molecular heterogeneity underlying these pathologies remains limited. Recently, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has emerged as a transformative technology, enabling unprecedented resolution of cellular dynamics, transcriptomic landscapes, and intracellular communication within the retina.

Epidemiological studies indicate that prostate cancer (PCa) is the second prevalent malignant tumor affecting men globally. Environmental pollution such as cigarette smoke is one of the important risk factors for the development of prostate cancer. However, as one of the main carcinogens in cigarette smoke, the role of benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) in prostate cancer is still unclear.

The moiré superlattices attract growing interest for holding exotic physics due to their fascinating properties from electronics to photonics. Much attention has been focused on the localization effect for waves in the flat band regime or the delocalization effect from the strongly dispersive band feature. Here, we study the weakly dispersive band in between the two above scenarios in a one-dimensional synthetic frequency moiré superlattice and observe the wave packet distributions therein toward novel frequency comb generation.

Non-Hermitian topological photonics plays a key role in bridging topological matter with gain and loss engineering in optics. Here we report the experimental observation of the break of chiral currents in a Hall ladder from the non-Hermiticity by constructing synthetic frequency dimension in two rings, where currents on both legs of the ladder co-propagate in the same direction. The origin of such phenomena is resulted from the interplay between the effective magnetic flux and the on-site gain and loss.

Article Synopsis
  • Patients with multiple primary malignant neoplasms (MPMNs) have two or more distinct primary tumors, and this report highlights a rare case of a patient with four primary tumors—three in the urinary tract (renal, prostate, bladder) and one in the lung.
  • The tumors developed over 13 years, and surgeries confirmed the tumors as primary rather than metastatic.
  • Patient-derived organoids (PDOs) were created from tumor samples, showing consistency with the original tumors and potential for personalizing treatment strategies based on their characteristics.

In this paper, we introduce the numerical strategy for mixed uncertainty propagation based on probability and Dempster-Shafer theories, and apply it to the computational model of peristalsis in a heart-pumping system. Specifically, the stochastic uncertainty in the system is represented with random variables while epistemic uncertainty is represented using non-probabilistic uncertain variables with belief functions. The mixed uncertainty is propagated through the system, resulting in the uncertainty in the chosen quantities of interest (QoI, such as flow volume, cost of transport and work).
