This study investigated the association between DFSES and probable depression and its mediation mechanisms via personal psychological resources (hope and resilience), loneliness, and school refusal functions.

Methods: A school-based anonymous survey was conducted among 8285 middle school students in China from February to March 2022; the response/eligible rate was 98.

Background And Aims: Gaming-specific maladaptive cognitions were critical determinants of internet gaming disorder (IGD). This study was novel to develop and validate the Time Perspective Scale of Perceived Benefits and Harms of Internet Gaming (TPS-PBHIG) by integrating the concepts of present- and future-oriented time perspectives, perceived benefits, and perceived harms of internet gaming.

Slow-transit constipation (STC) is a chronic disorder causing prolonged colonic transit and discomfort; this study explores the therapeutic potential of probiotics mixture (Leven PRO-CR) in modulating gut microbiota and enhancing intestinal motility. A loperamide-induced STC mouse model was established, and the effects of Leven PRO-CR treatment were evaluated by measuring defecation frequency, stool water content, and intestinal transit rate. Histopathological analyses, including Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and TUNEL assay, were performed to assess colonic tissue integrity, interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs) density, and apoptosis.

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is highly prevalent, under-detected, but preventable among older adults. The Common Sense Model of Illness postulates that illness representations are associated with coping and behavioural outcomes. This study investigated the associations between illness representations of OSA and behavioral intention of clinical diagnostic examination for OSA (BICDE-OSA) under two conditional/unconditional situations, stratified by high-risk versus low-risk OSA.

Mechanistic Insights into HO-Enhanced Iron Sulfide Formation: A DFT Study for Sulfur Fire Prevention and Environmental Hazard Mitigation.

The presence of water (HO) has been found to increase the susceptibility of sulfur to ignition during production and transportation, primarily due to the spontaneous combustion of iron-sulfide compounds generated by friction. In this study, the interaction mechanisms of iron-sulfur reactions under wet and dry conditions were investigated using density functional theory (DFT). Reactant cluster models were constructed, and the structures of all stationary points along the reaction potential energy surface were fully optimized for the 13-fold spin state.

Objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic revealed substantial differences in engagement with recommended protective behaviors and mental health between individuals with and without disabilities. We compare mental health and physical distancing among people with disabilities and the general population in the context of the U.K.

The association between a stress-is-enhancing mindset and internet gaming disorder was mediated by behavioral disengagement among medical undergraduate students: a multi-center survey in China.

Background: The stress-is-enhancing mindset has beneficial effects on physical, psychological, and emotional well-being. However, its association with internet gaming disorder (IGD) had not been investigated. By integrating stress mindset into the cognitive evaluation process of commonly used stress coping theories, this study examined the association between stress mindset and IGD and explored relevant mediation mechanisms via behavioral disengagement.

Factors of Psychoactive Substance Use Behaviors and Intention Among Social Workers' Adolescent Case-Work Clients in Hong Kong.

Based on Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), this study investigated the factors of psychoactive substance use in terms of current use (past 30 days), lifetime use, and behavioral intention (next 12 months) in Hong Kong adolescent case-clients of social workers from July 2021 to June 2022. The prevalence of current/lifetime psychoactive substance use and behavioral intention to use psychoactive substances was 7.6%/20.

Perceived social support and self-stigma as factors of COVID-19 booster vaccination behavior and intention via cognitive coping and emotion regulation among people infected with COVID-19 in Hong Kong.

Background: It is imperative to promote behavior/intention of taking up booster COVID-19 vaccination (BI-BV) among people who have ever contracted COVID-19 (PECC). The aims were to investigate the prevalence of BI-BV and its associations with perceived social support. Guided by the stress coping theory, we tested mediators between perceived social support and BI-BV via self-stigma, active coping, and maladaptive emotion regulation (rumination and catastrophizing).

Combination Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser Treatment and Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy Enhances the Treatment of Skin Photoaging in a Murine Model System.

Background: Fractional carbon dioxide lasers and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) are commonly employed in the treatment of skin photoaging.

Objective: This study was developed to explore the effects of combination carbon dioxide laser treatment and BMSC injection on skin photoaging and the underlying molecular mechanisms.

Methods & Materials: In total, 24 mice with experimentally photoaged skin were separated into control, carbon dioxide fractional laser treatment, combination therapy, and BMSC injection groups.

Retrospective analysis of autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells as adjuvant therapy in recurrent intrauterine adhesions.

Objectives: We aimed to retrospectively analyze the efficacy and safety of autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) as adjuvant therapy for intrauterine adhesion (IUA) and endometrial repair.

Methods: Patients enrolled at Shengjing Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University from January 2017 to January 2020 for the treatment of infertility who diagnosed with recurrent IUA as confirmed by hysteroscopy were included. BM-MSC was isolated from the patient's own bone marrow collected before and preserved.

School Climate and School Identification as Determinants of Internet Gaming Disorder Among Chinese Adolescent Internet Gamers: Cross-Sectional Mediation Study.

Background: School climate and school identification are important features of the school environment and potential determinants of adolescent internet gaming disorder (IGD).

Objective: This novel study investigated their joint effects on IGD and related mediation mechanisms via the interpersonal factor of teacher-student relationship and the individual factors of academic stress and anxiety.

Methods: A large-scale cross-sectional study was conducted among adolescent internet gamers of junior, senior, and vocational middle schools in Taizhou City, China, from February to March 2022 (N=5778).

Association between interpersonal resources and mental health professional help-seeking among Chinese adolescents with probable depression: mediations via personal resources and active coping.

Background: Globally, adolescent depression is prevalent. There is, however, a dearth of studies investigating behavioral intention to professional help-seeking regarding mental health problems among adolescents having probable depression. Based on the Stress Coping Theory, the hypothesis that personal resources and active coping would mediate between interpersonal resources and behavioral intention to professional help-seeking was investigated.

University students who were men who had sex with men (MSM) in Sichuan, China had a higher prevalence of insomnia and probable depression than their non-MSM counterparts: mediation via emotional dysregulations.

Background: Men who have sex with men studying in universities (MSM-US) frequently face multiple sexual minority stressors that potentially lead to maladaptive emotional regulations and mental problems. This study compared the prevalence of depression/insomnia between MSM-US and non-MSM male university students (NUS) and hypothesized that the potential differences would be mediated via emotional dysregulation styles (rumination and catastrophizing).

In this study, a unique spatial structure is fabricated by vertically aligning two-dimensional (2D) structures of Co-ZIF-L on conductive nickel foam (NF) substrate through interruption of ZIF-67 formation. This is followed by an innovative electrochemical synthesis method that disrupts unstable surface coordination bonds in Co-ZIF-L, enabling the in-situ generation of Co(OH).

To facilitate related research, this study translated and validated the Chinese version of the 14-item Psychoactive Substance Refusal Self-efficacy Questionnaire (PSRSEQ) among adolescents.

The Vicious Cycle between Loneliness and Problematic Smartphone Use among Adolescents: A Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Model.

Despite extensive research on the psychological impacts of digital technology, the nuanced dynamics between adolescent loneliness and problematic smartphone use, particularly across different educational levels and genders, remain underexplored. This study aims to fill this gap by employing a Random Intercept Cross-Lagged Panel Model to dissect the bidirectional relationship between loneliness and problematic smartphone use among adolescents, with a focus on the moderating roles of educational levels and gender. Engaging 3132 students from various educational institutions in China, the research conducted a three-wave longitudinal analysis across 2022-2023.

Associations between plasma metal/metalloid mixtures and the risk of central obesity: A prospective cohort study of Chinese adults.

Central obesity has increased rapidly over the past decade and posed a substantial disease burden worldwide. Exposure to metals/metalloids has been acknowledged to be involved in the development of central obesity through regulation of cortisol, insulin resistance, and glucocorticoid receptor reduction. Despite the importance, it is lack of prospective study which comprehensively evaluate the relations between multiple metals exposure and central obesity.

Etching-induced ion exchange engineering of two-dimensional layered NiFeCo-based hydroxides for high energy charge storage.

Efficient and rapid synthesis of transition metal-based hydroxides with tailored microstructures has emerged as a promising approach to fabricate high-performance electrode materials for energy storage devices. However, many conventional synthesis methods are cumbersome, expensive and time-consuming, and the microstructures of electrode materials are usually uncontrollable. Herein, we propose a fast and cost-effective approach to electrochemically grow NiFeCo-based ternary hydroxides (NiFeCo-THs) with layered nanosheet structures on pretreated nickel foam (NF).
