Lactate, a byproduct of glycolysis, was first identified to induce a novel post-translational modification (PTM) known as lysine lactylation (Kla) in 2019. Kla has been shown to regulate various biological processes, including transcription, metabolism, cell proliferation, and inflammatory responses, which are pivotal in both tumorigenesis and cellular aging. Initially, Kla was identified as an epigenetic marker on histones, where it regulates gene transcription.

This study aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of trilaciclib in preventing myelosuppression in patients with esophageal cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Based on the use of trilaciclib, 81 patients were divided into a primary prevention group (PP group, n = 49) and a secondary prevention group (SP group, n = 32). The incidence of myelosuppression, antibiotic usage rate, survival outcomes, and other treatment-related toxicities were analyzed using chi-square tests and Kaplan-Meier survival curves.

This study analyzes the role of the hemoglobin, albumin, lymphocyte, and platelet score (HALP), a pre-catheterization blood parameter, in predicting the occurrence of thrombophlebitis. We recruited 268 in-hospital patients who visited the Department of Oncology of our hospital and underwent peripherally inserted central catheter between January 2021 and January 2024. The cutoff value of the HALP score was defined using receiver's operating characteristic curve, and the differences were analyzed with log-rank test.

Article Synopsis
  • - The proposed strategy for detecting HER2, a key marker in breast cancer, involves a three-dimensional structure called COF that efficiently immobilizes the enzyme horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and uses a new redox mediator, 4-acetamidophenol (APAP), for enhanced electrochemical detection.
  • - The combination of COF's structure and HRP results in better catalytic activity and stability compared to free HRP, allowing for improved target recognition and signal amplification in the detection process.
  • - This advanced electrochemical aptasensor shows exceptional specificity and sensitivity, with a detection limit of 0.418 pg/mL for HER2, outperforming conventional methods and with the ability to differentiate between

Article Synopsis
  • A phase III clinical trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of different radiation doses (high vs. standard) and irradiation fields (involved field vs. elective nodal) on survival outcomes for patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
  • Results indicated that there were no significant differences in overall survival (OS) or progression-free survival (PFS) between the different irradiation fields, but the high-dose treatment suggested an improvement in PFS compared to the standard dose.
  • The best prognostic outcomes were observed in the high-dose with involved field group (HD+IFI), while the standard dose with involved field group (SD+IFI) had the worst outcomes, and no substantial differences in severe adverse events were

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are abundant and heterogeneous stromal cells in the tumor microenvironment, which play important roles in regulating tumor progression and therapy resistance by transferring exosomes to cancer cells. However, how CAFs modulate esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) progression and radioresistance remains incompletely understood. The expression of fibroblast activation protein (FAP) in CAFs was evaluated by immunohistochemistry in 174 ESCC patients who underwent surgery and 78 pretreatment biopsy specimens of ESCC patients who underwent definitive chemoradiotherapy.

Background: Soluble programmed death-ligand 1 (sPD-L1) is critically involved in breast cancer recurrence and metastasis. However, the clinical application of highly sensitive sPD-L1 assays remains a challenge due to its low abundance in peripheral blood. To address this issue, for the first time, an enzyme-catalyzed electrochemical aptasensing platform was devised, incorporating covalent organic frameworks-gold nanoparticles-antibody-horseradish peroxidase (COFs-AuNPs-Ab-HRP) and polyethyleneimine-functionalized multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-PEI-AuNPs) for the highly specific and ultrasensitive detection of sPD-L1.
