Resveratrol (RES) is a polyphenol with diverse beneficial biological and pharmacological activities, and our previous results have demonstrated its neuroprotective effects in several metabolic diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The aim of the present study is to investigate the potential effect of RES against oleic acid (OA)-induced cell injuries in SH-SY5Y cells and explore the possible mechanism. Based on the dose- and time-dependent effects of OA on cell proliferation and LDH release, SH-SY5Y cells were challenged with OA and incubated with or without RES (10-10 mM) or sitagliptin (STG, 10 mM).

Application of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) on sensors is of great interest for researchers. Film forming ability of the sensing material is very important for both the preparation process and sensing properties of the devices. Humidity sensors based on UIO-66 derived polyelectrolyte films were well prepared by in situ thiol-ene click cross-linking polymerization in this work.

Prostate cancer (PCa) is associated with advanced age, but how age contributes to prostate carcinogenesis remains unknown. The prostate-specific Pten conditional knockout mouse model closely imitates human PCa initiation and progression. To better understand how age impacts PCa in an experimental model, we have generated a spatially and temporally controlled Pten-null PCa murine model at different ages (aged vs.

Introduction: Adult non-degenerative scoliosis accounts for 90% of spinal deformities in young adults. However, perioperative complications and related risk factors of long posterior instrumentation and fusion for the treatment of adult non-degenerative scoliosis have not been adequately studied.

Methods: We evaluated clinical and radiographical results from 146 patients with adult non-degenerative scoliosis who underwent long posterior instrumentation and fusion.

In wireless sensor networks, the reliability of communication can be greatly improved by applying low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes. Algorithms based on progressive-edge-growth (PEG) pattern and quasi-cyclic (QC) pattern are the mainstream approaches to constructing LDPC codes with good performance. However, these algorithms are not guaranteed to remove all short cycles to achieve the desired girth, and their excellent inputs are difficult to obtain.

Personized treatment of breast cancer is still a challenge, and more treatment options for breast cancer are warranted. Combination therapies have been a highly appreciated strategy for breast cancer treatment in recent years, and the development of new combination therapies could improve patient outcomes. Adenosine and polyamines are both endogenous metabolites with indispensable biological functions.

Advanced prostate cancer (PCa) has limited treatment regimens and shows low response to chemotherapy and immunotherapy, leading to poor prognosis. Histone modification is a vital mechanism of gene expression and a promising therapy target. In this study, we characterized WD repeat domain 5 (WDR5), a regulator of histone modification, and explored its potential therapeutic value in PCa.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive cognitive decline, psychiatric symptoms and behavioral disorders, resulting in disability, and loss of self-sufficiency. To establish an AD-like mice model, investigate the behavioral performance, and explore the potential mechanism. Streptozotocin (STZ, 3 mg/kg) was microinjected bilaterally into the dorsal hippocampus of C57BL/6 mice, and the behavioral performance was observed.

Analysis of electroencephalogram (EEG) is a crucial diagnostic criterion for many sleep disorders, of which sleep staging is an important component. Manual stage classification is a labor-intensive process and usually suffered from many subjective factors. Recently, more and more computer-aided techniques have been applied to this task, among which deep convolutional neural network has been performing well as an effective automatic classification model.

Ovonic threshold switch (OTS) has received great attention in neuromorphic computing due to its support for high-density synapse array as a selector and leaky-integration-firing functions Hodgkin-Huxley neurons. However, there is no simple and complete model for device simulation and integrated circuit design, which hindered application until now. In this work, we developed a compact physical model of OTS based on the Poole-Frenkel effect accompanied by the thermal dissipation effect for the first time.

A microwave-assisted hydrothermal approach with a follow up thermal treatment was employed to prepare 1D porous CoO nanowires, which is constructed by numerous high crystallinity nanoparticles. A significant change in crystal structure of the precursor were observed, as position shift and absence of some diffraction peaks, which was induced by the microwave-assistance during hydrothermal process. Moreover, the precursor's purity was also effectively improved.

Article Synopsis
  • Titanium dioxide nanotube arrays are effective biomaterials due to their tubular structure, and this study focused on enhancing their biocompatibility through zinc doping.
  • The size of the nanotubes and the presence of zinc significantly affected properties like hydrophilicity, protein adsorption, and blood compatibility, with larger diameters reducing albumin but increasing fibrinogen adsorption.
  • Zinc doping improved blood compatibility by promoting more favorable protein interactions and enhancing endothelial cell adhesion and growth, making these modified nanotubes suitable for applications in medical implants like stents.

An electrochemical sensor for paracetamol is executed by using conductive MOF (NiCu-CAT), which is synthesized by 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11-hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP) ligand. The utility of this 2D NiCu-CAT is measured by the detection of paracetamol, p-stacking within the MOF layers is essential to achieve high electrical conductivity, redox activity, and catalytic activity. In particular, NiCu-CAT demonstrated detection Limit of determination near 5μM for paracetamol through a wide concentration range (5-190 μM).
