Rare earth elements (REEs) are emerging environmental contaminants, yet their effects on preterm birth (PTB) remain poorly understood. This study integrates epidemiological and mechanistic evidence to evaluate REEs-associated PTB risk and potential biological pathways. We analyzed 4,897 mother-child pairs from a large cohort in China and 13 REEs in maternal urine were measured.

Cytochrome P450(CYP)2D6 (CYP2D6) and ATP-binding cassette, sub-family B, member 1 (ABCB1) transporter are involved in the metabolism of ARI. However, whether CYP2D6 and ABCB1 genetic polymorphisms influence clinical efficacy and pharmacokinetics of ARI remains unclear.

Although trimethylation of histone H3 in the lysine 27 (H3K27me3)-dependent pathway has been shown to control drought responses, the mechanisms underlying drought-induced abscission remain unknown. In this study, we showed that drought-induced calcineurin B-like11 (SlCBL11) upregulation activated the CBL-interacting protein kinase10 (SlCIPK10) to phosphorylate like heterochromatin protein 1b (SlLHP1b) at Thr387 and Thr389, respectively, in stamens of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum).

To overcome these limitations, a novel spatial segregation strategy driven by sludge settling was proposed to establish niche separation between ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) and anaerobic ammonia-oxidation bacteria (AnAOB) within a sequencing batch reactor (SBR). AOB-rich flocs were maintained in the aerobic upper zone, while AnAOB-enriched granules settled in the anoxic bottom zone, and an internal reflux ensured efficient nitrite transfer.

Plant organ abscission is a highly organized biological process in response to developmental and environmental cues. The understanding of the regulation of abscission is of great importance for the improvement of crop productivity and quality. The abscission process can be quantitatively analyzed by investigating the abscission of the tomato flower pedicel of different genotypes at a specific period.

Salt stress significantly induces the abscission of flowers and fruits, resulting in a reduction in crop yields and posing a threat to food security. Nonetheless, the molecular mechanisms underlying the abscission triggered by salt stress remain poorly understood. In our study, the effects of different NaCl concentrations on the growth of tomato plants and flower drop were investigated.

Here, we identified an SlKD1-interacting transcription factor GATA transcription factor 6 (SlGATA6), which is required for maintaining the auxin-response gradient and preventing abscission. SlGATA6 up-regulates the expression of and .

Objectives: This review aims to compare the effectiveness of photodynamic therapy (PDT) with conization, including loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and cold-knife conization (CKC), in treating cervical high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL).
Methods: PubMed, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang Data were searched. The outcomes assessed were complete response (CR) rate, human papillomavirus (HPV) eradication rate, recurrence rate, and adverse events (AEs).
Research Question: What is the effect and underlying mechanism of low-intensity-pulsed-ultrasound (LIPUS)-treated menstrual-blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MenSC) on intrauterine adhesions (IUA)?
Design: First, MenSC were identified and exposed to LIPUS. The proliferation, migration, invasion, cytokine secretion, and ability to differentiate into human endometrial epithelial cells (HEEC) of LIPUS-treated MenSC were characterized. In vitro, human endometrial stromal cells (HESC) were treated with 10 ng/ml transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) to simulate IUA, and then co-cultured indirectly with LIPUS-treated MenSC.
Drought stress substantially decreases crop yields by causing flowers and fruits to detach prematurely. However, the molecular mechanisms modulating organ abscission under drought stress remain unclear. Here, we show that expression of CALMODULIN2 (CaM2) is specifically and sharply increased in the pedicel abscission zone in response to drought and plays a positive role in drought-induced flower drop in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum).

Propranolol, a medication used to treat cardiovascular diseases, can be harmful when overdosed and hazardous to ecosystems if released into the environment. Here, a new molecularly imprinted fluorescent sensor was developed from carbon dots through a sol-gel method. Carbon dots served as both the fluorescent signal and the carrier, with propranolol as the template molecule and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane as the functional monomer to be grafted on carbon dots' surface.
