Aim: This randomized controlled trial investigated the effects of interactive dynamic scalp acupuncture (IDSA) on brain functional connectivity density (FCD) in patients with bilateral basal ganglia ischemic stroke (BBGIS), focusing on its potential to enhance motor recovery.

Methods: Seventy BBGIS patients (aged 45-75 years, 1-3 months post-stroke, Brunnstrom stage II-V) and 40 age-and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. Resting-state functional MRI (rs-fMRI) assessed baseline FCD differences between groups, with regions showing significant alterations correlated to Fugl-Meyer Assessment (FMA) scores selected as seed points.

To tackle the storage challenges for distributed hydrogen applications, the microwave-initiated methanol steam reforming (MSR) process was deployed to increase the flexibility and energy efficiency of the MSR hydrogen production. As the key, a series of carbon-supported CuZn catalysts were systematically investigated to reveal the impacts of dielectric properties, conductivity, and dispersion on the catalytic performance under microwave irradiation. In addition to the excellent dielectric properties and conductivity exhibited by the carbon supports, the efficient dispersion of active species will dominate the catalytic activity, which was evidenced by the fact that the graphite supported CuZnG-40 is less active than the carbon nanotube supported and well dispersed CuZnCNTs-10, even with CuZnG-40 presenting superior conductivity and dielectric properties.

Cutin serves as the foundational structure of the plant cuticle and plays a crucial role in determining fruit development and quality. However, the transcriptional regulation of cutin deposition by fruit-specific transcription factors remains largely unknown. This study delves into the regulatory role of the tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) SBP-box protein Colorless Non-Ripening (SlCNR), primarily expressed in fruits, in cutin formation.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects and mechanism of artemisinin (ART) on the proliferation, apoptosis, and inflammatory response of human dental pulp stem cells (HDPSCs) under lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation.

Methods: HDPSCs were isolated, cultured, and identified by flow cytometry and three-directional differentiation induction. A suitable concentration of LPS was selected to mimic the inflammatory condition in vitro.

In recent years, carbon dots (CDs) with fluorescence imaging function have been widely used in biomedicine, electronic manufacturing and environmental monitoring. However, monochromatic fluorescence is often limited by the application environment and loses its effectiveness. Here, we carefully designed white fluorescent CDs (WF-CDs) by solvothermal method, which is used for fluorescence imaging applications under different environmental conditions.

Synergistic therapy combining photothermal therapy (PTT) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT) has proven to be a highly effective strategy for cancer treatment. However, PTT heavily relies on the accumulation of therapeutic agents at the tumor site. The peroxidase (POD) activity of common catalysts can be rapidly exhausted during the accumulation process, prior to laser intervention, thereby diminishing the synergistic enhancement effect of the combined therapy.

Phototherapy has demonstrated substantial development because in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window it has a larger tissue penetration and fewer adverse consequences. In this work, a particular kind of NIR-II responsive Fe-doped carbon nanoparticles (FDCNs) is synthesized using a one-pot hydrothermal method for combined photothermal and chemodynamic therapy. The mesoporous nanostructure of FDCN, which has a size distribution that exceeds 225 nm, allows for effective acidification.

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) have attracted extensive research interest in bioimaging and biosensing due to their unique surface plasmon resonance. However, the potential aggregation and security anxiety of Ag NPs hinder their further application in biomedical field due to their high surface energy and the possible ionization. Here, binary heterogeneous nanocomplexes constructed from silver nanoparticles and carbon nanomaterials (termed as C-Ag NPs) were reported.

Amphenicols are widely used to prevent and treat animal diseases. However, amphenicol residues accumulate in livestock and poultry and harm consumers. We hypothesized that one can combine solid-phase extraction (SPE) with ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) to simultaneously determine amphenicols and metabolites in pork, beef, lamb, chicken, and their products and meet government regulations for maximum residue limits.

Graphene quantum dots (GQDs) are considered emerging nanomaterials for photothermal therapy (PTT) of cancer due to their good biocompatibility and rapid excretion. However, the optical absorbance of GQDs in shorter wavelengths (<1000 nm) limits their overall therapeutic efficacies as photothermal agent in the second near infrared window (1000-1700 nm, NIR-II). Herein, we report a type of GQDs with strong absorption (1070 nm) in NIR-II region that was synthesized via a one-step solvothermal treatment using phenol as single precursor by tuning the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide under a high magnetic field with an intensity of 9T.
