Periodontitis causes the destruction of tooth-supporting tissues, and current therapies for periodontal regeneration are invasive. In this study, a human dental pulp stem cell (DPSC; hDP-MSC) injection was developed to promote periodontal regeneration through a non-invasive procedure. A total of 132 patients with chronic periodontitis (158 teeth) from two centers in China were included.

Patients suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral arterial disease (PAD) can benefit from bypass graft surgery. For this surgery, arterial vascular grafts have become promising alternatives when autologous grafts are inaccessible but suffer from numerous postimplantation challenges, particularly delayed endothelialization, intimal hyperplasia, high risk of thrombogenicity and restenosis, and difficulty in timely detection of these subtle pathological changes. We present an electronic vascular conduit that integrates flexible electronics into bionic vascular grafts for in situ, real-time and long-term monitoring for hemadostenosis and thrombosis concurrent with postoperative vascular repair.

Adequate blood supply around bone grafts is crucial in periodontal regenerative surgery. Research suggests that cortical perforation during surgery can stimulate angiogenesis and cell migration, increase blood supply to the surgical site, and promote local tissue regeneration. However, the effects of perforation on the local tissue microenvironment and the molecular mechanisms by which corticotomy promotes bone regeneration remain unclear.

Purpose: To explore the expression of hub genes, pathways and inhibitory immune checkpoints of CD8+ T cells in metastatic lymph nodes of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) in C3H/He mice.
Methods: A popliteal lymph node metastasis model of immunocompetent C3H/He mice was constructed with SCC-7 cell line of HNSCC, and the lymph node metastasis status was determined by immunofluorescence. CD8+ T cells in normal and metastatic lymph nodes were sorted by flow cytometry, and transcriptome sequencing analysis was performed to screen out differentially expressed genes.
Although the output of the lateral habenula (LHb) controls the activity of midbrain dopamine (DA) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) containing systems, which are implicated in the pathophysiology of anxiety, it is not clear how activation and blockade of LHb D receptors affects anxiety-like behaviors, particularly in Parkinson's disease related anxiety. In this study, unilateral 6-hydroxydopamine lesions of the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) in rats induced anxiety-like behaviors, which attribute to hyperactivity of LHb neurons and decrease in the level of DA in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC), amygdala and ventral hippocampus (vHip) compared to sham-operated rats. Intra-LHb injection of D receptor agonist A412997 induced or increased the expression of anxiety-like behaviors, while injection of D receptor antagonist L741742 showed anxiolytic effects in sham-operated and the SNc-lesioned rats.

Endovascular therapy (ET) significantly improves outcomes for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients, but complications such as stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) increase mortality and healthcare costs. This study investigates the association between blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption and the increased risk of SAP and explores the relationship between BBB disruption and medium-term functional outcomes.

Two-dimensional topological insulators (TIs) show great potential applications in low-power quantum computing and spintronics due to the spin-polarized gapless edge states. However, the small bandgap limits their room-temperature applications. Based on first-principles calculations, a series of CX (X = H, F, Cl, Br and I) functionalized III-V monolayers are investigated.

Objective: Endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) in patients with large infarct volume remains controversial. The aim of this study is to compare clinical outcomes between EVT and medical management in acute large vessel occlusion with infarct volumes larger than 70 mL on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI).
Methods: A prospective observational cohort study was conducted, including patients with anterior cerebral circulation occlusion due to ischemic stroke with infarct volumes larger than 70 mL within 24 h of onset between July 2018 and June 2023.
The photovoltaic (PV) effect in non-centrosymmetric materials consisting of a single component under homogeneous illumination can exceed the fundamental Shockley-Queisser limit compared to the traditional p-n junctions. Two-dimensional (2D) materials with a reduced dimensionality and smaller bandgap were predicated to be better candidates for the PV effect with high efficiency exceeding that of traditional ferroelectric perovskite oxides. Here, we report the giant intrinsic PV effect in atomically thin rhenium disulfide (ReS) with centrosymmetry breaking.

Periodontitis, a chronic infectious disease, primarily arises from infections and the invasion of periodontal pathogens. This condition is typified by alveolar bone loss resulting from host immune responses and inflammatory reactions. Periodontal pathogens trigger aberrant inflammatory reactions within periodontal tissues, thereby exacerbating the progression of periodontitis.
