Objectives: In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, China witnessed a surge in respiratory virus infections, which presented considerable challenges to primary health care systems. This study developed an interpretable prediction model using complete blood count (CBC) test data. This model aims to identify common respiratory virus infections in patients.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only burdened healthcare systems but has also led to a new emerging medical question whether chronic underlying diseases (CUDs) are associated with clinical characteristics of populations infected with Omicron BA.

The objective of this study was to investigate the potential causal relationship between coagulation factors and autoimmune diseases (ADs). We employed Mendelian randomization to investigate the associations between selected 7 coagulation factors and 10 ADs, leveraging genetic variants as instrumental variables to assess causal relationships between exposures of interest and outcomes. Within the scope of this investigation, coagulation factors were designated as the exposure source, while ADs were observed to manifest as the consequent outcome.

Objective: COVID-19 has evolved into a seasonal coronavirus disease, characterized by prolonged infection duration and repeated infections, significantly increasing the risk of patients developing long COVID. Our research focused on the immune responses in asymptomatic and mild cases, particularly the critical factors influencing serum immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels and their predictive value.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis on data from 1939 asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic COVID-19 patients hospitalized between September 2022 and June 2023.

Prolonged exposure to fine particulate matter (PM) is associated with harmful impacts on human health and population growth in urban areas has exacerbated this exposure. In this study, we compare the exposure between cities at a national level and between different regions within cities considering the population in situ. We estimate the impacts of pollution and population on exposure by spatial and time series analysis from 2000 to 2018 based on 1-km grid data.

Purpose: The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant has posed a significant global public health challenge. Elucidating the laboratory profiles of individuals infected with this variant is crucial for assessing organ damage. This study aimed to investigate the variations in liver function tests and their correlation with demographic characteristics and inflammatory markers in patients with early Omicron variant infections.

Background: This study aimed to investigate alterations in serum markers [creatine kinase-MB (CKMB), cardiac troponin T (cTnT), myoglobin (Myo), B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), D-dimer (DD), procalcitonin (PCT) and interleukin-6 (IL6)] in early Omicron variant infection and analyzed their correlation with clinical parameters.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of 1,138 mild/asymptomatic cases at Tianjin First Central Hospital, including age, gender, serum markers and nucleic acid test results. Statistical analysis used SPSS software, version 24.

This study aims to explore the effect of combined application of oral rehabilitation training and neuromuscular electrical stimulation on improving pediatric swallowing disorders. Children meeting the inclusion criteria for swallowing disorders were divided into control and experimental groups based on different intervention protocols.

Nitrous oxide (N O) exacerbates the greenhouse effect and thus global warming. Agricultural management practices, especially the use of nitrogen (N) fertilizers and irrigation, increase soil N O emissions. As a vital sector of global agriculture, specialty crop systems usually require intensive input and management.

Background: Hemolymphangioma of the jejunum is rare and lacks clinical specificity, and can manifest as gastrointestinal bleeding, abdominal pain, and intestinal obstruction. Computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and other examinations show certain characteristics of the disease, but lack accuracy. Although capsule endoscopy and enteroscopy make up for this deficiency, the diagnosis also still requires pathology.

An electronic and hand search of studies up to December 2022 was conducted. Randomized controlled trials with at least 6 months of follow-up were identified to compare autologous platelet concentrates with enamel matrix derivative, bone graft, guided tissue regeneration, and open-flap debridement.

Objective: Treatment of syncope in older adults places a burden on healthcare systems. We used five risk stratification tools to predict short-term adverse outcomes in older patients with syncope.
Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of patients with syncope (age ≥60 years) in the emergency department of an urban academic hospital.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between Age, immunoglobin G (IgG), immunoglobin M (IgM), procalcitonin (PCT), and interleukin-6 (IL6), and the time to clear viral nucleic acids in asymptomatic and mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, as well as evaluated the predictive value of these biochemical indicators.
Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis on 1,570 individuals who were admitted to Tianjin First Central Hospital and diagnosed with asymptomatic or mild cases. Laboratory data were collected, including age, gender, levels of IgG, IgM, PCT and IL6, as well as results of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) nucleic acid test.

This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between bone mineral density (BMD) and intervertebral disk degeneration (IVDD) using a two-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomization analysis. Summary-level data from the Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) were used. Instrumental variables (IVs) for IVDD were selected from the large-scale Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) (20,001 cases and 164,682 controls).

Our study aimed to summarize the clinical characteristics of these patients and explore potential reasons for RP occurrence. We divided 439 participants into four groups based on the severity of illness prior to the COVID-19 recovery and age: mild-child group, moderate-child group, mild-adult group, and moderate-adult group.

Methods: We systematically analyzed the peripheral blood of preoperative HCC patients (n = 270) for CTC number, Ki67 index reflecting the proliferative CTC percentage (PCP), and CTC clusters correlated with the characteristics of malignant HCC tumors.
Results: Driver gene mutations were found with high levels of consistency between CTCs and primary tumors (n = 73).
Introduction: Bisphosphonates are widely used for the treatment of osteoporosis, which could cause osteonecrosis of the jaw (also known as bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw [BRONJ]). Currently, there is no effective treatment for BRONJ. Here, we investigated the role of human recombinant semaphorin 4D (Sema4D) in BRONJ in vitro.
