Objective: Evaluate associations between orange juice (OJ) consumption and anthropometric parameters.
Design: Prospective cohort study assessing the association between OJ intake and changes in BMI and height-for-age Z-score (HAZ) using mixed linear regression.
Setting: 2004-2008, USA.
Studies have reported a supraphysiologic estradiol (E2) level during ovarian stimulation may be related to low birthweight after fresh embryo transfer (ET), but whether a high E2 level in the stimulation cycle affects birthweight via frozen ET remained controversial. The study was to investigate whether a supraphysiologic E2 level in ovarian stimulation cycle affects birth weight in infants conceived via subsequent FET. In this retrospective cohort study, 2525 singletons conceived via FET and 2668 singletons conceived via fresh ET were analyzed.

The methodology is well motivated from 26 pivotal Merck clinical trials that compare statins (cholesterol lowering drugs) in combination with ezetimibe and statins alone on treatment-naïve patients and those continuing on statins at baseline. The research goal is to jointly analyze the multivariate outcomes, Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C), High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (HDL-C), and Triglycerides (TG).

Early detection and treatment can effectively reduce these damages. The unique collateral trans-cleavage nuclease activity of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/Cas12a system was utilized to realize the detection of nucleic acid with high sensitivity.

Recent researches indicated that hsa-microRNA 5010-3p (miR-5010) and hsa-microRNA 331-5p (miR-331) were significantly important for the detection of PD. So, in this work, a kind of high fluorescence quenching probe-based reverse fluorescence enhancement lateral flow test strip (rLFTS) was constructed to realize the synchronous detection of miR-5010 and miR-331.

In this study, an alginate-degrading bacterium with high alginolytic activity was successfully screened by using Sargassum fusiforme sludge. When the strain was grown on a plate containing sodium alginate, the transparent ring diameter (D) was 2.

Conventional immunoassays were accustomed to introducing or incorporating enzymes for signal amplification, which commonly suffered from poor stability and inferior tolerance. Herein, we constructed a novel nonenzyme amplification methodology based on fluorogenic Ag-tetrazolate aggregation coupled with silver corrosion sensitization for biomarker determination.

It is unclear whether GnRH agonist pre-treatment before starting the long GnRH agonist protocol for IVF/ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection) can improve cumulative live birth rate (CLBR) of infertile women with adenomyosis. In this retrospective cohort study, a total of 374 patients diagnosed as adenomyosis (477 cycles) underwent IVF/ICSI with long GnRH agonist protocol with or without GnRH agonist pre-treatment between January 2009 and June 2018.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOsteosarcoma (OS) has been demonstrated to be difficult to cure due to its potently malignant metastasis. Therefore, new therapeutic approaches blocking the metastatic potential of OS are urgently required to improve the outcomes for OS patients. In the present study, the anti‑metastatic capacity of sea cucumber (Cucumaria frondosa) fucoidan (Cf‑Fuc) was evaluated on osteosarcoma cells by cell adhesion assay, Transwell assay and U2OS cell migration assay.

In the US, there are approximately 780 000 CD patients and 33 000 new cases added each year. In this article, we propose a new network meta-regression approach for modeling ordinal outcomes in order to assess the efficacy of treatments for CD.

Intent-to-treat analysis without adjusting for switching yields biased and inefficient estimates of the treatment effects. In this paper, we propose a class of semiparametric semi-competing risks transition survival models to accommodate two-way time-varying switching.

In this study, we integrated the expression profiles of splicing factors (SFs) of PAAD from RNA-sequencing data to provide a comprehensive view of the clinical significance of SFs. A prognostic index (PI) based on SFs was developed using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) COX analysis.

Defect in a SUMO protease protein, suppressor of 7 (SMT7), has been shown to reduce cell division number and increase cell size of the small-size mutant (), which contains a defective retinoblastoma tumor suppressor-related protein of Chlamydomonas (). Here we describe development of an in vitro SUMOylation system using Chlamydomonas components and use it to provide evidence that SMT7 is a SUMO protease.

In aortic endothelial cells, the TGFβ signaling pathway is involved in the regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor (), which encodes a potent angiogenic factor crucial for the development of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) is a member of the TGFβ family and its effect on expression in human granulosa cells is unknown. In this study, human granulosa cells were collected from patients during the course of oocyte retrieval for fertilization and were cultured .

Semi-competing risks data include the time to a nonterminating event and the time to a terminating event, while competing risks data include the time to more than one terminating event. Our work is motivated by a prostate cancer study, which has one nonterminating event and two terminating events with both semi-competing risks and competing risks present as well as two censoring times. In this paper, we propose a new multi-risks survival (MRS) model for this type of data.

Nowadays, Bayesian methods are routinely used for estimating parameters of item response theory (IRT) models. However, the marginal likelihoods are still rarely used for comparing IRT models due to their complexity and a relatively high dimension of the model parameters. In this paper, we review Monte Carlo (MC) methods developed in the literature in recent years and provide a detailed development of how these methods are applied to the IRT models.

The random effects are assumed to follow a heavy-tailed distribution to accommodate outlying aggregate values in the response variable. The logarithm of the pseudo-marginal likelihood (LPML) is used for model comparison.

These methods share an assumption that two mutations arise from the same subclone if they have similar mutant allele-frequencies (MAFs), and thus it is difficult or impossible to distinguish two subclones with similar MAFs. Single-cell DNA sequencing (scDNA-seq) data can be very informative for ITH inference.

It is also routinely encountered in HIV prevention clinical trials that there is a large proportion of zeros in count response data. In this paper, a sequential multinomial model is adopted for dropout and subsequently a conditional model is constructed for intermittent missingness.

Considered as the next-generation biomarkers, microRNAs play an important role in the early diagnosis of cancers. Here, we designed a fluorescent signal "removal" sensor for one-step, sensitive and specific detection of multiple microRNAs by flow cytometry (FCM). In this work, single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), working as the interlinkage, immobilized the fluorescent nanosphere (FS) onto the SiO microspheres surface to form the SiO-ssDNA-FS probes.
