The rapid global spread of Pine Wilt Disease (PWD) has resulted in considerable ecological and economic losses, underscoring the necessity for precise forecasts of its future dissemination as a pivotal element in the control of the disease. In contrast to traditional semi-empirical models, which are unable to be applied to the increasing number of outbreak areas, machine learning (ML) models are better able to capture the hidden patterns of PWD spread. However, ML models have poor interpretability, and the imbalance between infected and potentially infected samples, coupled with the high dimensionality of the influencing factors, makes it challenging for any single ML model to achieve satisfactory performance.

The lack of a mechanistic understanding of the environmental plasticity of secondary cell wall (SCW) biosynthesis restricts large-scale biomass and bioenergy production on marginal lands. Using Populus (poplar), a key bioenergy crop, we discovered that iron deprivation, a prevalent abiotic stress on marginal lands, stimulates SCW biosynthesis in stems. We identified the transcription factor PtrbHLH011 as a critical regulator underlying this response.

To address the uncertainty and fuzziness during conventional workface rib spalling prediction, a rating system of workface wall stability considering subjective experience factor, mechanical performance of coal mass, workface production condition, and support/surrounding rock coupling was constructed, fuzzy factors such as the number of cracks, crack distribution, and feedback of wall/roof tapping were analyzed systematically and quantitatively based on the long-term inspection experience of coal mine safety inspectors, and rating criteria of workface wall stability were established; the AHP-CRTIC-Game Theory integrated weighting method was used to determine the optimized overall weight. Additionally, the normal cloud model was used to determine the workface wall stability level. The application of this model in the Workface 25,221 of a mine in Xinjiang, China revealed that the workface wall stability was at Level III, suggesting an unstable condition, which was consistent with the on-site observations.

The fusion of multiple sensors' data in real-time is a crucial process for autonomous and assisted driving, where high-level controllers need classification of objects in the surroundings and estimation of relative positions. This paper presents an open-source framework to estimate the distance between a vehicle equipped with sensors and different road objects on its path using the fusion of data from cameras, radars, and LiDARs. The target application is an Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) that benefits from the integration of the sensors' attributes to plan the vehicle's speed according to real-time road occupation and distance from obstacles.
