Cancer risk increases with age, and cellular senescence may be a major contributor to cellular carcinogenesis. Enormous efforts have been made to investigate the interrelation between aging and tumors, but little is known about the comparative features of normal aging, cellular senescence, and cancer at single-cell resolution. By integrating analyses of genomics, epigenomics, and bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, we revealed a directionally opposite transcriptional profile between cellular senescence and tumorigenesis at the single-cell level, which may be affected by epigenomic regulations.

Soil salinization and alkalization are major constraints on soybean productivity. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), such as Rhizophagus intraradices (Ri), enhance crop stress tolerance, but their stage-specific regulatory mechanisms in soybeans under soda saline-alkaline stress remain unclear. Using in situ soda saline-alkaline soil in pot experiments, we evaluated Ri's effects on soybean growth, ion homeostasis, and photosynthesis across critical stages: branching (V5), pod development (R4), and full maturity (R8).

Objective: To use a T-scan (Tekscan, Boston, USA) to evaluate the grinding effect of a three-dimensional (3D) printed occlusal splint and provide reference guidelines for adjusting occlusion and alleviating temporomandibular joint symptoms before orthodontic treatment.

Methods: Eighteen patients with temporomandibular disorder (TMD) were treated with 3D-printed stable occlusal plates for three months. The occlusal time (OT) of the dentition and the difference percentage of occlusal force between the left and right sides (Asymmetry index of occlusal force, AOF) were observed one week, one, two, and three months after T-scan-guided occlusal splint treatment.

Background: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, with substantial impacts on a child's academic performance, social interactions, and overall quality of life. This study investigates the impact of combining a multi-micronutrient nutritional formula (MNF) with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in managing ADHD symptoms in children.

Methods: In a retrospective analysis of 220 children aged 6-14 years diagnosed with ADHD, patients were divided into two groups: the MNF group ( = 112) receiving only the nutritional formula, and the MNF-CBT group ( = 108) receiving both the nutritional formula and CBT.

Background: The high prevalence of cognitive impairment (CI) in Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients impacts their quality of life and prognosis, yet risk prediction models for CI in this population remain underexplored.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a risk prediction model for CI in CKD patients using machine learning algorithms, with the objective of enhancing risk prediction accuracy and facilitating early intervention.

Methods: A total of 415 CKD patients from the 2015 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey (CHARLS) dataset were included in this study.

Purpose: To evaluate the prognostic value of high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) viral load in long-term survival of cervical cancer (CC) patients.

Methods: Two hundred and twenty-nine CC patients from 2009 to 2013 who underwent radiochemotherapy (RCT) or plus hyperthermia (HT) were recruited. HPV type 16, 18, 58 DNA was detected by in situ hybridization (ISH) and either HR-HPV type with the highest intensive signals was chosen as the evaluating target.

Data from in vitro and animal studies suggest that asciminib, the first BCR::ABL1 inhibitor that Specifically Targets the ABL Myristoyl Pocket (STAMP), synergizes with adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-competitive tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) to prevent emergence of and overcome resistance. Combination therapy may provide new treatment options for patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) with suboptimal responses to ATP-competitive TKI monotherapy. Preliminary analysis of asciminib combined with nilotinib, imatinib, or dasatinib in a phase 1 dose-escalation study suggested promising efficacy and safety for patients with CML in chronic phase or accelerated phase treated with prior ATP-competitive TKIs; herein, we present final results from the 3 combination therapy arms.

Asciminib is the first approved BCR::ABL1 inhibitor that Specifically Targets the ABL Myristoyl Pocket (STAMP). The present final analysis of the phase 1, open-label, nonrandomized trial (NCT02081378) assessed the long-term safety, tolerability, and antileukemic activity of asciminib in 115 patients with chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase without the BCR::ABL1 mutation who received asciminib 10-200 mg twice daily (BID) or 80-200 mg once daily (cutoff: March 14, 2023). Median exposure duration was 5.

Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a neurodegenerative disorder associated with repetitive head impacts (RHI), which is commonly observed in athletes participating in contact sports. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to provide a clearer elucidation of the prevalence, risk factors, and potential outcomes of CTE in athletes. Through a comprehensive search of PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Google Scholar (January 2015 to July 2024), we ultimately included eight eligible studies with a low risk of bias involving 1000 former contact sports athletes diagnosed by neuropathological methods.

In recent years, microplastic (MPs) and pesticide pollution have become prominent issues in the field of soil pollution. This research endeavored to assess the impact of ultraviolet radiation (UV) on the characteristics of microplastics, as well as investigating the toxicological effect on earthworms (Eisenia fetida) when subjected to the dual stressors of microplastics and acetochlor (ACT). This research found that microplastics aged under UV were more prone to wear and tear in the environment, and produced more oxygen-containing functional groups.

Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common types of cancer and is caused by the complex interplay of genetic and environmental factors, such as an unhealthy lifestyle, family history of illness, reproductive factors, and ageing. However, increasing evidence has revealed that manufactured organic pollutants such as bisphenols are closely related to BC. Bisphenols exposure can promote the progression of BC through multiple complicated and variable molecular mechanisms.
