The endothelialization of the metal surface of vascular stents came into focus as a new method for improving the biocompatibility of intravascular stents. This article has its focus on building a biofunctional layer on the activated titanium surface with anti-CD34 antibody, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and heparin by a layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly technique, to promote the endothelialization of the surface. When compared with titanium surface, the number of adhered endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) on LBLs increased 47.

Structural differences are defined using X-ray absorption spectroscopy and correlated to reactivities using density functional theory. The S = 1 ground states are highly similar and result in large activation barriers (~25 kcal/mol) due to steric interactions between the cyclam chelate and the substrate (e.

Vibrational temperature in circle discharge channel and central dot discharge channel of circle-dot filament in argon/air dielectric barrier discharge was firstly measured by using optical emission spectra. The variations of the vibrational temperature in central-dot discharge channel and circle discharge channel as a function of air content were also studied. Emission spectral lines of the N2 second positive band system (C 3pi(u) -->B 3pi(g)) were used to calculate the vabrational temperature.

The Mn(IV)-oxo complex shows high reactivity in oxidation reactions, such as C-H bond activation, oxidations of olefins, alcohols, sulfides, and aromatic compounds, and N-dealkylation. In C-H bond activation, the Mn(IV)-oxo complex can activate C-H bonds as strong as those in cyclohexane.

Different discharge modes in different boundary discharge domains at the same experimental condition are observed in argon/air mixture in a dielectric barrier discharge system with two large diameter water electrodes. Regular patterns and random filaments are formed in the closed square boundary and the semiopen domain respectively. It is found that the relatively intensity of the several higher excitation energy spectral lines such as 696.

In order to measure the wavelength shift, the Ar I (2P2 --> 1S5) spectral line emitted from argon discharge at pressure of 10 Pa was used as a reference line. With the gas pressure increasing in the range of 1 x 10(4) - 6 x 10(4) Pa, the width and shift of Ar I (2P2 --> 1S5) spectral line were measured in argon (99.

The genetic characteristics of mumps virus (MuV) strains isolated from sporadic mumps cases between 2007 and 2009 in three provinces of south-west China were investigated. MuV detection was carried out by nested RT-PCR on 117 cases. The small hydrophobic gene of 33 isolated strains was identified, and sequence analysis revealed that all the isolates belonged to the lineage genotype F with slight nucleotide variation.

Photoreactive heparin was synthesized by reaction of 4-azidoaniline and heparin. An organic layer was introduced on the surface of Ti-O by 3-aminopropylphosphonic acid assembling, and then the modified heparin was immobilized on the surface by UV irradiation. Water contact angle was used to characterize the hydrophilicity, quantitive assay was done by azure staining methods, and blood compatibility was evaluated by platelet adhesion experiment.

Background: The productivity of the medicinally significant perennial herb Rehmannia glutinosa is severely affected after the first year of cropping. While there is some information available describing the physiological and environmental causes of this yield decline, there is as yet no data regarding the changes in gene expression which occur when the species is continuously cropped.
Results: Using a massively parallel (Solexa) DNA sequencing platform, it was possible to identify and quantify the abundance of a large number of R.
Immobilization of selenocystamine on TiO(2) film deposited on silicon wafer and 316 stainless steel stents for catalytic generation of nitric oxide was described. Polydopamine was used as the linker for immobilization of selenocystamine to the TiO(2) surface. In vitro stability of the immobilized selenocystamine was investigated and the result shows surface selenium loss occurs mostly in the first four weeks.

In this research, enzyme linked immunoassay (ELISA) was used to assay the fibrinogen (FIG) adsorbed on the Ti-O films and on the low temperature isotropic carbon (LTIC) films which were planted in the femoral arteries of 6 mongrel dogs for six months, respectively. The Ti-O films were planted in the dogs' left femoral arteries; the LTIC films as controls were planted in the dogs' right femoral arteries. The contents adsorbed in these two kinds of films were examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Inducing spontaneous endothelialization of synthetic cardiovascular implant in vivo is thought to be a promising approach to solve the surface-induced thrombosis and restenosis problem. In the present study, anti-CD34 antibody, a kind of special marker of EPC, was oriented immobilized on titanium surface by means of a layer-by-layer self-assembly coating technique. The multilayer coating was prepared by first depositing one layer of avidin on the NaOH-treated titanium substrate, then depositing a layer of biotinylated protein A binding to the avidin, and finally anti-CD34 antibody was oriented immobilized by protein A binding to the Fc fragment (COOH-terminal of a antibody molecule, which has no antigen binding sites) of the anti-CD34 antibody with its antigen binding fragment (Fab) away from the titanium surface.

Thrombosis and restenosis are the main causes leading to failure of cardiovascular and other blood-contacting biomedical devices. It is recognized that rapid re-endothelialization is a promising method for preventing these complications. This article deals with improving the endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) compatibility and hemocompatibility of titanium by coating an extracellular matrix-like film with heparin(hep) and collagen(col) by a layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly technique.

Morphologic features of the skin of Bama miniature pigs resemble those of human skin, including skin layer thickness, development of a superficial vascular system, structure of the dermal-epidermal interface, and extracellular matrix. The characteristics and densities of Langerhans cells, fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells, and mast cells were similar between Bama pig and human skin.

Restenosis and thrombus at the site of implanting cardiovascular devices remains a significant problem in the practice of interventional cardiology. Recently, lots of studies reveal that endothelial impairment was considered as one of the most important mechanisms contributing to restenosis. The method of accelerating endothelial regeneration at the injury site could prevent restenosis and thrombus, so such methods are of importance for improving the effectiveness of interventional therapy for atherosclerosis.

Extracellular matrix (ECM)-like biomimetic surface modification of cardiovascular implants is a promising method for improving hemocompatibility. In the present work, collagen (Col) and sulfated chitosan (SCS) multilayers were coated on pure titanium using a layer-by-layer (LBL) self-assembly technique. The Col-SCS multilayer growth was carried out by first depositing a single layer of positively charged poly-L-lysine (PLL) on the NaOH-treated titanium substrate (negatively charged surface), followed by alternate deposition of negatively charged SCS and positively charged Col, and terminated by an outermost layer of SCS.
