How to synchronously boost the activity and stability of Fe/N-doped carbons (Fe-N-Ce-N-C) for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) becomes important to promote their commercial applications. Here we synthesize a Fe-N-Ce-N-C catalyst by secondary sintering and removing endogenous CeO nanoparticles to in situ regulate the accessibility and structure of N and O atoms coordinated Fe sites (FeNO). Theoretical studies indicate that the electron density distribution surrounding the Fe atom in FeNO sites exhibits significant differences compared to that in FeN, inducing a downward shift of the Fe d-band center.

Polymer ellipsoids are typically accessible through a two-step fabrication procedure, involving the synthesis of spherical particles followed by thermal stretching, a time-consuming and complicated process. In this study, a straightforward method is presented for preparing polymer ellipsoids via emulsion polymerization, utilizing the jamming of nanoparticle surfactants at the oil-water interface and the membrane emulsification technique. The size and shape of polymer ellipsoids can be precisely controlled by adjusting the interfacial activity of nanoparticle surfactants and emulsification parameters.

The electrical conductivity of aqueous fluids is critical for interpreting the electrical anomalies observed by magnetotellurics in the Earth's crust. Conductivity measurements of fluids at high temperature and pressure were mainly conducted in cold-sealed pressure vessels, hydrothermal diamond anvil cells, and piston-cylinder apparatus, by using precious metals, such as Pt-Rh or Au-Pd as sample capsules. However, this research has never been performed in a multi-anvil apparatus.
