This study explored the mechanism by which lysozyme (LYZ) actively quenched reactive oxygen species (ROS) to inhibit egg white protein (EWP) oxidation. By depleting/replenishing LYZ in EWP systems, we evaluated EWP stability, oxidation degree, microstructure, and conformational changes during storage. Results showed that compared to the control group with significantly reduced LYZ activity, 0.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI), Systemic Immunoinflammatory Index (SII), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with epithelial ovarian cancer ( EOC). Also, to explore the predictive value of a new scoring system combining PNI and SII (coPNI-SII) in patients with EOC.

Methods: In this study, 154 patients with EOC were analyzed and classified according to the best cut-off values for SII, PNI, PLR, and NLR.

Background: The effectiveness of crisaborole for proactive treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD) is not well established.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of a proactive treatment strategy with 2% crisaborole ointment for managing mild-to-moderate AD in children.

Patients And Methods: In this 16-week randomized-controlled trial, children aged 2-17 years with mild-to-moderate AD were enrolled.

Since the advantages of robotic surgery and laparoscopic surgery in the number of lymph node resections are not well understood, this meta-analysis used evidence-based medicine to assess the difference in the number of lymph nodes retrieved in gynecological cancer between the two surgical methods to guide clinical treatment. In the present meta-analysis, the Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane, China National Knowledge Infrastructure and Wanfang libraries were searched for articles that were published from the time of the database's inception to January 2021, including cohort studies and randomized controlled trials, where the observation group underwent robotic surgery to treat gynecological cancers and the control group underwent laparoscopic surgery to treat gynecological cancers, including cervical and ovarian cancers and endometrial cancers. Duplicate publications, studies with no full text, incomplete information or where the authors were unable to perform data extraction, animal experiments, reviews and systematic reviews were excluded.

The incision of the Sanmen Gorge marks the birth of the modern Yellow River, but its timing varies from the late Miocene-early Pliocene to the late Pleistocene (∼0.15 Ma), and the suggested forcing mechanisms vary from the uplift of the Tibetan Plateau to global climate change. Here, we report sedimentologic, geochronologic, and provenance data from a drill core near the Sanmen Gorge, the last gorge along the main course of the Yellow River.

This study investigated the effect of a low protein (LP) diet on growth performance, nitrogen emission, carcass traits, meat quality, and gut microbiota in finishing pigs. Fifty-four barrows (Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire) were randomly assigned to three treatments with six replicates (pens) of three pigs each. The pigs were fed with either high protein (HP, 16% CP), medium protein (MP, 12% CP), and LP diets (10% CP), respectively.

The beneficial function of fermented feed in livestock industry has been widely investigated. However, little is known about the effects of fermented feed on different weaned-day piglets. This study aimed to investigate the effects of fermented diet on the growth performance, intestinal function, and microbiota of piglets weaned at the age of 21 and 28 days.

The study was aimed at exploring the application value of the CT image based on a filtered back projection (FBP) algorithm in the diagnosis of patients with diabetes complicated with tuberculosis and at analyzing the influence of dietary nursing on patients with diabetes complicated with tuberculosis. In this study, the FBP algorithm was used to optimize CT images to effectively obtain reconstructed ROI images. Then, the deviation from measurement values of reconstructed images at different pixel levels was analyzed.

The dispersities of goethite nanoparticles (GTNPs) and ferrihydrite nanoparticles (FHNPs) affect the transport and retention of nanoparticle-associated contaminants. However, the effects of interaction on nanoparticle stability under varying environmental conditions have not been previously investigated. This study utilized settling experiments, a semi-empirical model, and the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory to study the homo-aggregation and hetero-aggregation of GTNPs and FHNPs.

5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is a typical dehydration product of C6 carbohydrates, and it can be converted into a series of chemicals and liquid fuels. In this study, an advanced low-boiling single-phase reaction system consisting of water and 1,2-dimethoxyethane (DMOE) was proposed for the production of HMF from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC). AlCl and HPO were selected as the Lewis acidic catalyst and Brønsted acidic catalyst, respectively, and the influence of these two catalysts on the conversion behavior of MCC was studied.

The present study is a comparative study on preliminary characterizations and immunostimulatory activities of water-soluble polysaccharides (WSP) from newly hybrid Amomum villosum and its female parent. First, two kinds of WSP were extracted, respectively from the newly hybrid A. villosum called Spring No.

In the present study, effect of different extraction methods on property and bioactivity of water-soluble polysaccharides (WSP) from the seeds of Amomum villosum were investigated. Firstly, four different extraction methods were used to extract WSP, which include hot water extraction (HWE), ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and enzyme-assisted extraction (EAE). As a result, four WSP samples, WSP(H), WSP(U), WSP(M) and WSP(E) were acquired.

It is still a big challenge to treat large amount of water with low concentration of pollutant. In this study, a hierarchical (micro/nano) structured Mg(OH)2 adsorbent was introduced by the in situ hydration of porous MgO in the dye solution. The adsorbent showed high selective adsorption capacity (Q0 ≈ 155 mg/g for acid alizarine blue) and fast adsorption rate for the removal of anionic dyes down to the mg/L levels.

Article Synopsis
  • - We conducted a meta-analysis of two studies on coronary artery disease with over 1,500 cases and 5,000 controls, focusing on individuals of Chinese Han ancestry.
  • - Our analysis identified four new genetic loci associated with coronary artery disease that reached significant levels of evidence, located near specific genes (TTC32-WDR35, GUCY1A3, C6orf10-BTNL2, and ATP2B1).
  • - We also confirmed four previously known loci linked to coronary artery disease in European populations, enhancing our understanding of genetic factors affecting this condition in the Chinese Han population.
