Taking population in the Datong River basin of the Qilian Mountains as research object, we analyzed the age structure, population dynamics, and future development trends of the population by constructing static life tables and survival curves, and combining with survival functions, spectral analysis, and time series models. The results showed that based on the inclusive upper limit method with 5 cm diameter at breast height (DBH) intervals, population was classified into 15 age classes (Ⅰ-ⅩⅤ), corresponding to four growth stages: juvenile (0 cm60 cm, ⅩⅢ-ⅩⅤ). Objective: Liver transplantation is a current treatment option for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The United States National Inpatient Sample database was utilized to identify risk factors that influence the outcome of liver transplantation, including locoregional recurrence, distant metastasis, and in-hospital mortality, in HCC patients with concurrent hepatitis B infection, hepatitis C infection, or alcoholic cirrhosis.

Methods: This retrospective cohort study included HCC patients (n=2391) from the National Inpatient Sample database who underwent liver transplantation and were diagnosed with hepatitis B or C virus infection, co-infection with hepatitis B and C, or alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver between 2005 and 2014.

The selective removal of oxygen from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) is challenging for the effective utilization of biomass. The catalytic mechanisms of palladium acetate toward the conversion of HMF to furfuryl alcohol (FFA), 5-methylfurfural (5-MF) and 2,5-dihydroxymethyl furan (DHMF) have been theoretically investigated. The decarbonylation of HMF to FFA includes (i) migratory extrusion, (ii) metal-acetate-co-assisted deprotonation, (iii) decarbonylation, (iv) metal-assisted deprotonation, and (v) migratory extrusion and catalyst regeneration.

Effects of seed traits and seed production on the seed predation and dispersal behavior of rodents.

To deeply understand the foraging behavioral strategies of the rodents in response to seeds of different sizes and tannin contents under different seed densities and its relationship with plant regeneration, field experiments were conducted to explore the effects of artificial seeds of different sizes (large and small) and tannin (T) contents (0%T, 2%T, 8%T, and 15%T) on seed predation and dispersal behavior of rodents during simulated non-mast and mast seeding year in Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation of Liupan Mountains in Ningxia. The results showed that seeds were consumed rapidly by rodents in non-mast seeding year but relatively slow in mast seeding year. No significant difference of in situ predation rate (ISPR) was observed between non-mast and mast seeding year.

Matrine, one of the main alkaloid components extracted from the traditional Chinese herb, Sophora flavescens Ait, has various pharmacological effects, and has been reported to exert antitumor activity in melanoma. In the current study, the molecular mechanisms underlying the inhibitory effects of matrine were investigated in melanoma cell line. It was initially confirmed that matrine inhibited proliferation, invasion and induced apoptosis in human A375 and SK-MEL-2 melanoma cell lines in vitro.
