Purpose: Programmed cell death ligand-1 (PD-L1) negatively regulates T-cell activation, and exhibits sex-based differences in expression and immune responses. This study investigated sex-related differences in clinicopathological factors influencing PD-L1 expression and the effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) on survival in gastric cancer (GC) patients in South Korea.
Materials And Methods: We analyzed a prospective cohort of 468 GC patients who underwent PD-L1 immunohistochemistry.
Objectives: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with an unclear etiology. This study aimed to assess chronic heavy metal exposure in ALS patients in South Korea by comparing hair concentrations of common (Hg, Pb, Cd) and rare (U, Th, Pt) metals with healthy controls.
Methods: Hair samples were collected from 66 ALS patients and 70 healthy individuals at Rodem Hospital between 2022 and 2025.
Background/aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of serum pepsinogen (sPG) tests for gastritis, gastric adenoma (GA), and gastric cancer (GC) using the enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assay-based GastroPanel kit and to investigate the correlation between Gastro-Panel- and Latex-enhanced Turbidimetric Immunoassay (L-TIA)-derived sPG results.
Methods: sPG I and II levels and PG I/II ratios were measured using both kits in 2,204 participants, including 1,109 controls, 316 GA, and 779 GC patients.
Results: The GastroPanel- and L-TIA-derived sPG results showed high concordance.

Hemolysis causes oxidative damage indirectly by generating reactive oxygen species through various pathophysiological mechanisms, which include hemoglobin autoxidation, endothelial nitric oxide synthase uncoupling, reduced nitric oxide bioavailability, and elevated levels of asymmetric dimethylarginine. Red blood cells have a built-in anti-oxidant system that includes enzymes like sodium dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase, along with free radical scavenging molecules, such as vitamin C, vitamin E, and glutathione, which help them to fight oxidative damage.

Both compounds maintain the inherent local emission characteristics of their MR-emitting core, exhibiting intense MR-TADF with high photoluminescence quantum yields in toluene and rigid states. In contrast, the presence of the dark lowest-energy charge transfer state, induced by cage rotation in THF, is suggested to be responsible for emission quenching in a polar solvent.
