A novel class of o-carboranyl luminophores, 2CB-BuDABNA (1) and 3CB-BuDABNA (2) is reported, in which o-carborane moieties are incorporated at the periphery of the B,N-doped multi-resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence (MR-TADF) core. Both compounds maintain the inherent local emission characteristics of their MR-emitting core, exhibiting intense MR-TADF with high photoluminescence quantum yields in toluene and rigid states. In contrast, the presence of the dark lowest-energy charge transfer state, induced by cage rotation in THF, is suggested to be responsible for emission quenching in a polar solvent.

Designing multi-resonance (MR) emitters that can simultaneously achieve narrowband emission and suppressed intermolecular interactions is challenging for realizing high color purity and stable blue organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Three donor-acceptor-type thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters (PXZBAO (), PXZBTO (), and PXZBPO ()) comprising a phenoxazine (PXZ) donor and differently π-expanded boron-carbonyl (BCO) hybrid acceptor units are proposed. The emitters exhibit red () to orange () emissions with an increase in the π-expansion in the BCO acceptors. Highly fluorescent blue emitters with high color purity are of great significance for optical applications. Herein, a series of planarized ,-diarylated benzonaphthoazaborine compounds, namely, BzNp (1), BuBzNp (2), BuBzNp (3), BuBzMeNp (4), and BuBzBuNp (5), where electron-donating Bu and Me groups are differently introduced into the -Ph, -Ph, or benzoazaborine rings, are prepared and characterized. All compounds exhibit low-energy absorptions ( = 462-467 nm) and emissions ( = 472-478 nm) remarkably red-shifted compared with those found for the pristine dibenzoazaborine compound (404 and 415 nm, respectively).

Herein, we report a set of donor (D)-acceptor (A)-type blue TADF compounds (-) comprising triply bridged triarylboryl acceptors, the so-called -heterotriangulenes, which differ depending on the identity of one of the bridging groups: methylene (), dimethylmethylene (), or oxo (). Eleven of eighteen Society Island species endemic to the Windward Island subgroup (Moorea and Tahiti) have been extirpated by an ill-advised biological control program. The conservation status of this critically endangered tree snail radiation is of considerable import, but is clouded by taxonomic uncertainty due to the extensive lack of congruence among species designations, diagnostic morphologies, and molecular markers. Using a combination of museum, captive, and remnant wild snails, we obtained the first high-resolution nuclear genomic perspective of the evolutionary relationships and survival of fourteen Windward Island species, totaling 93 specimens.

The spectroscopic characteristics and relative distribution of refractory dissolved organic matter (R-DOM) in sewage have been investigated using the influent and the effluent samples collected from 15 large-scale biological wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Real-time monitoring of water quality for sewer system is required for efficient sewer network design because it provides information on the precise loading of pollutant to wastewater treatment facilities and the impact of loading on receiving water. In this study, synchronous fluorescence spectra and its first derivatives were investigated using a number of wastewater samples collected in sewer systems in urban and non-urban areas, and the optimum fluorescence feature was explored for the estimation of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentrations of sewer samples. The temporal variations in BOD and COD showed a regular pattern for urban areas whereas they were relatively irregular for non-urban areas.
