Background: The lymphatic drainage of the esophagus primarily depends on the lymphatic vessels within the lamina propria mucosae and submucosa, which channel lymph longitudinally toward the proximal and distal ends. Our study sought to explore the prognostic significance of the lymph node metastasis station in patients with pathologic N + esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Materials And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 544 patients who underwent esophagectomy alone for ESCC with pathologic lymph node metastasis between January 2012 and December 2016.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is highly malignant worldwide. Despite significant advances in the treatment of ESCC, the prognosis remains unfavourable, necessitating research into its mechanisms and treatments. Spindle component 25 (SPC25) can ensure the fidelity of mitotic progression and the accurate segregation of chromosomes, thus plays an important role in the development of malignant tumors, but its role in ESCC is yet to be determined.

While metabolic reprogramming and remodeling of tumor microenvironment play important roles in the development of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), the mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we found that pancreatic progenitor cell differentiation and proliferation factor (PPDPF) is upregulated in ESCC and its expression level is associated with lymph node metastasis. PPDPF was found to promote tumorigenesis, lymph node metastasis and distal metastasis of ESCC cells.

Male sterility enables hybrid crop breeding to increase yields and has been extensively studied. But thermo-sensitive female sterility, which is an ideal property that may enable full mechanization in hybrid rice breeding, has rarely been investigated due to the absence of such germplasm. Here we identify the spontaneous thermo-sensitive female sterility 1 (tfs1) mutation that confers complete sterility under regular/high temperature and partial fertility under low temperature as a point mutation in ARGONAUTE7 (AGO7).

MicroRNA (miR) acts as a negative regulator of gene expression. Many literatures have suggested that miRs may be involved in the process of cell proliferation, inflammation, oxidative stress, energy metabolism and epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Thus, miRs may be implicated in the occurrence of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Background: The right recurrent laryngeal nerve (RRLN) is the region most prone to lymph node metastasis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Nodal involvement may be underestimated by traditional imaging prediction criteria, such as a short axis diameter of 10 mm. The purpose of this study was to determine a more accurate imaging criterion to guide clinical treatment strategy selection.
