Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a malignant tumor that develops in the extrahepatic bile duct, that is, from the left and right hepatic ducts to the lower end of the common bile duct. Because of its indeterminate etiology, difficulties in the diagnosis of early lesions, easy invasion and metastasis and resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs, the trend of mortality rate deterioration of patients with CCA has not been fundamentally reversed. And the molecular mechanisms underlying the development of CCA are not well characterized.

Intelligent modulation of solar and thermal radiation for a smart window, including visible, near-infrared (NIR), and long-wave infrared (LWIR) spectral tri-bands (0.38-25 µm), to achieve indoor comfort and energy efficiency is a critical frontier in sustainable building design. However, independent regulations of multi-functional radiation of visible lighting, NIR heating, and LWIR radiative cooling for dynamic operational requirements and weather conditions are not fully solved.

Chemotherapy is essential for patients with advanced PC, but unfortunately the curative effect is limited by chemoresistance. CircTNPO3, a recently discovered circular RNA (circRNA), has been indicated to be associated with multi-types of tumors.

Herein, we proposed a chemiluminescent/colorimetric dual-signal readout microfluidic method, incorporating a streptavidin-biotin-alkaline phosphatase (SA-Biotin-ALP) signal amplification system for the highly sensitive detection of Deoxynivalenol (DON), Ochratoxin A (OTA), and Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). The indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunoassay (ic-ELISA) was integrated into microfluidic chip, resulting in sensitive detection ranges of DON in the range of 4-128 ng/mL, 2-64 ng/mL for OTA, and 0.

However, despite their unique advantages of direct-current output and high current density, the output voltage of DDG is usually less than 1 V, which needs to be further improved to satisfy the demands of practical applications. Therefore, this study proposes a vertical graphene/LiNbO DDG that is conducive to an ultra-high voltage output.

Traditional protective measures are important, but early detection and prevention are equally critical. Surface electromyography (sEMG) signals, which assess muscle electrical activity, can indicate a fall risk by detecting muscle weakness or instability.

Extracellular matrix (ECM) is a multifaceted network that encases cells, composed of various polysaccharides, proteins, and adhesion molecules, etc. It plays a critical role in providing structural support to cells and regulating essential cellular activities such as proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Due to these functions, decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) has attracted considerable interest in biomedicine and holds promising application potential.

Yet, obstacles such as proper material for ultrasound guidance, restricted options of 3D printing resources, and available substances to simulate human skin and muscle still hinder the production of simulation models that closely replicate clinical practice. This study aimed to develop a selective laser melting (SLM), 3D-printed simulation model that replicated the spine and skin contours of patients with spinal scoliosis.

Alkaloids are typically found in plants and certain animals, but are rare in actinomycetes. Recently, there have been significant advances in the discovery of bacterial alkaloids and the elucidation of their biosynthetic pathways. Based upon biosynthetic insights, a specialized class of secondary metabolites termed piperidine polyketide alkaloids (PPAs) has been identified from actinomycetes.

Among sarcomas, leiomyosarcoma (LMS) is one of the most frequently encountered subtypes. This study aims to investigate the expression, clinical significance, biological regulation, and dysregulation mechanisms of extra spindle pole bodies like 1 (), a gene critical for cell cycle regulation in LMS.

Background: Wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD) is a vision-threatening eye disease worldwide. The amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) method was used to observe changes in spontaneous brain activity, which may help to investigate the underlying pathological mechanism of AMD.
Methods: Eighteen patients with wAMD and 18 age- and gender-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited.
The discontinuous fiber reinforced hydrogels are easy to fail due to the fracture of the fiber matrix during load-bearing. Here, we propose a novel strategy based on the synergistic reinforcement of interconnected natural fiber networks at multiple scales to fabricate hydrogels with extraordinary mechanical properties. Specifically, the P(AA-AM)/Cel (P(AA-AM), poly(acrylic acid-acrylamide); Cel, cellulose) hydrogel is synthesized by copolymerizing AA and AM on a substrate of paper with an interconnected hollow cellulose microfiber network.

Background: The objective of this research is to statistically assess the risk of cardiovascular mortality (CVM) between patients with small bowel adenocarcinoma (SBA) and the general population. Additionally, it aims to identify CVM-associated risk factors among individuals with SBA.
Methods: Data obtained between 2000 and 2017 on SBA patients from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database were examined.
Purpose: Patients undergoing thoracic surgery suffer from severe postoperative pain, and a series of complications will occur if there is no effective analgesic treatment. Liposomal bupivacaine (LB) is a novel multivesicular formulation with up to 72 hours of analgesia, which can be used in thoracic surgery. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy of LB in improving recovery in patients undergoing thoracic surgery compared with non-liposomal local anesthetics.

However, ultrasound images of the lumbar spine are complex and numerous. Moreover, long learning curves are necessary for novice physicians to memorise, master and apply this modality in their clinical practice.
