Precise control of the physicochemical properties of metal-organic materials has been a challenge in the fields of materials science and engineering and can be achieved through the construction of morphology/size-dependent supramolecular functional model systems. The development of diverse hierarchical micro/nanostructured systems based on similar molecules and the elucidation of their morphology-dependent characteristics provide the possibility for efficiently constructing this system and studying its structure-function relationships. Herein, three pyrene-based metal-organic cycles (MOCs) were synthesized and used as building blocks to create supramolecular model systems and investigate their morphology/size-dependent properties.

Nevertheless, the efficacy of surgical interventions in GC patients with sarcopenia remains ambiguous. This study compared the prognostic value of laparoscopic and open radical gastrectomy in GC patients with sarcopenia.

Background: The infratemporal fossa, nestled deep within a complex network of vital nerves and blood vessels, presents a formidable challenge to neurosurgeons, otolaryngologists, and maxillofacial surgeons alike.
Importance: Surgery is the main treatment method for lesions in the infratemporal fossa area. While traditional surgery is fraught with significant trauma, complexity, and a high rate of complications, the neuroendoscopic anterior prelacrimal recess technique offers a less invasive alternative, minimizing damage to the nasal cavity's architecture.

Pheromone ComX is a critical element of the quorum-sensing (QS) system in Bacillus subtilis. It activates the surfactin promoter (P) to initiate surfactin production in a cell-density-dependent manner. In this study, the natural promoter P of B.

Sphincter preservation in ultra-low rectal cancer poses significant challenges, and there is limited research exploring the impact of colonic J-pouch reconstruction on anal function in such patients. Given these challenges, the objective of this study was to assess the impact of colonic J-pouch reconstruction on quality of life and bowel function in patients who underwent sphincter-preserving surgery for ultra-low rectal cancer.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) as a foremost infectious disease adds massive burden to morbidity and mortality rate, despite of well-structured TB control programs around the globe. Inappropriate health care management system and poor implementation on standard in relevance to TB, remain some reasons causative to TB prevalence and its rising antimicrobial resistance. Health Care Workers (HCWs) laboring as a part of TB control system, are the vital warriors in achieving the goals of TB End Strategy by 2035.

CircRNAs, a newly discovered type of non-coding RNA, have emerged as key regulators of gene expression and promising biomarkers in various bodily fluids due to their stability. The current review discusses circRNA biogenesis, highlighting their RNase-R resistance due to their loop forming structure, making them effective biomarkers.

This study aimed to investigate whether MA has greater prognostic value than SMI in gastric cancer patients with overweight and obesity.
Methods: Clinical parameters of 1312 patients with gastric cancer who underwent radical gastrectomy were prospectively collected between 2013 and 2019.
Objective: To investigate the mechanism of action of fatty acid receptors, FFAR1 and FFAR4, on ulcerative colitis (UC) through fatty acid metabolism and macrophage polarization.
Methods: Dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced mouse model of UC mice was used to evaluate the efficacy of FFAR1 (GW9508) and FFAR4 (GSK137647) agonists by analyzing body weight, colon length, disease activity index (DAI), and histological scores. Real-time PCR and immunofluorescence analysis were performed to quantify the levels of fatty acid metabolizing enzymes and macrophage makers.

Sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI) is a clinical syndrome characterized by excessive uncontrolled inflammation. Photobiomodulation such as light-emitting diode (LED) irradiation has been used to attenuate inflammatory disease. The protective effect of 630 nm LED irradiation on sepsis-induced ALI remains unknown.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is caused by inflammatory response of joints with cartilage and damage of synovium and bone erosion. In our previous studies, it has showed that irradiation of 630 nm LED reduce inflammation of synovial fibroblasts and cartilage and bone destruction in RA. However, the key genes and mechanism in ameliorating RA by irradiation of 630 nm LED remains unknown.

The phytochemical investigation on the methanol extract of fruits resulted in the isolation and identification of two new lignan constituents ( and ) and seven known phenolic glycosides (-). The structures of new isolates, including their absolute configurations were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analyses (H and C NMR, HSQC, HMBC, HRESIMS, and ECD) and chemical methods. In the enzyme assays, compounds , , , and showed potential ‑amylase and -glucosidase inhibitory activities.

A variety of drugs exert therapeutic effects on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) through the gut-joint axis. However, the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effect of novel photobiomodulatory therapy (PBMT) on RA need further validation and the involvement of gut-joint axis in this process remains unknown.

However, the difficulties in measuring low skeletal muscle mass index and low skeletal muscle radiodensity limit their use in routine clinical practice, impeding early screening and diagnosis. The objective of this study is to develop a nomogram that incorporates preoperative factors for predicting low skeletal muscle mass index and low skeletal muscle radiodensity.

Background: Sarcopenia, overweight and obesity are all dynamic changes in body composition, which may have a negative effect on the prognosis for patients with colorectal cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the predictive role of sarcopenia on overweight or obese patients with colorectal cancer.
Methods: We conducted an observative study on the population of overweight or obese patients with colorectal cancer who underwent curative surgeries in two centers between 2015 and 2021.

With the global epidemic and prevention of the COVID-19, long COVID-19 sequelae and its comprehensive prevention have attracted widespread attention. Long COVID-19 sequelae refer to that three months after acute COVID-19, the test of SARS-CoV-2 is negative, but some symptoms still exist, such as cough, prolonged dyspnea and fatigue, shortness of breath, palpitations and insomnia. Its pathological mechanism is related to direct viral damage, immunopathological response, endocrine and metabolism disorders.

Sarcopenia is a progressive systemic skeletal muscle disorder characterized by a pathological decline in muscle strength, quantity, and quality, which frequently affects the elderly population. The majority of cancer patients are of advanced age. Patients may already have sarcopenia prior to cancer development, and those with cancer are prone to developing sarcopenia due to hypercatabolism, inflammation, reduced physical fitness, anorexia, adverse effects, and stress associated with anticancer therapy.

Studies have indicated that transcription factors (TFs) and the immune microenvironment play a vital role in skeletal muscle atrophy.
Methods: RNA-seq data of 40 muscle samples were downloaded from the GEO database.
