Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases worldwide. Despite the existing treatments, the adverse side effects and the increasing drug resistance to the current therapies lead to a reduced quality of life for patients and poor prognosis. The pyrimido[5,4-]pyrimidine compound () was identified as a promising new anticancer drug due to its potent activity against colorectal and triple-negative breast cancers; however it showed poor aqueous solubility and safety profile.

The primary goal of the proposed method is to select optimal wavelengths that can lead to the accurate identification of six polymers: polyamide 6 (PA6), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). By examining the specific fluorescence emission patterns of these polymers, the study provides insight into how each material responds uniquely to different excitation light sources.

Magneto-plasmonic liposomes, in addition to being remotely controllable with the application of an external magnetic field, also increase the efficiency of encapsulated drug release through thermal stimulation, for example, with magnetic and optical hyperthermia. Thus, the combination of those two materials-giving magneto-plasmonic lipogels-brings together several functionalities, among which are hyperthermia and spatiotemporally controlled drug delivery.
