Background: The exact regulation network of programmed death 1 (PD-1), programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), and programmed death ligand 2 (PD-L2) signaling in immune escape is largely unknown. We aimed to describe the gene expression profiles related to PD-1 as well as its ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, thus deciphering their possible biological processes in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Aim: To find the possible mechanism of function of PD-1, PD-L1, and PD-L2 in HCC.

Background: Single nucleotide polymorphism array (SNP-array) has been introduced for prenatal diagnosis. We aimed to evaluate the clinical value of SNP-array in the diagnosis of fetal chromosomal anomalies.
Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 5000 cases tested by SNP-array, and the results of 4022 cases analyzed by both karyotyping and SNP-array were compared.
Only seven species of the genus Linnaeus were previously known to occur in Laos. Here one new species is added to the fauna of Laos, Tipula (Nippotipula) champasakensis (unplaced) Alexander, 1936 is designated as a synonym of (unplaced) Walker, 1848, A key to species of the genus from Laos is presented.

Background: Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma of the liver (UESL) is a rare liver malignancy originating from primary mesenchymal tissue. The clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, and imaging examinations of the disease lack specificity and the preoperative misdiagnosis rate is high. The overall prognosis is poor and survival rate is low.

In this paper, large-scale, self-standing polypyrrole/graphene oxide (PPy/GO) nanocomposite films were prepared by an environmentally friendly and easy-to-operate confined polymerization method, and were also assembled as electrode materials for symmetric all-solid-state supercapacitors. The morphology, chemical structure and electrochemical property were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), respectively.

Lone-pair electrons (LPEs) s in subvalent 14 and 15 groups lead to highly anharmonic lattice and strong distortion polarization, which are responsible for the groups' outstanding thermoelectric and optoelectronic properties. However, their dynamic stereochemical role in structural and physical properties is still unclear. Here, by introducing pressure to tune the behavior of LPEs, we systematically investigate the lone-pair stereochemical role in a BiOS.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTyrosinase is an important enzyme in controlling the formation of melanin in melanosome, and plays a key role in the pigmentation of hair and skin. The abnormal expression or activation of tyrosinase is associated with several diseases such as albinism, vitiligo, melanoma and Parkinson disease. Excessive deposition of melanin could cause diseases such as freckles and brown spots in the human body, and it is also closely related to browning of fruits and vegetables and insect molting.

It may be greatly useful to improve the rational use of antibiotics by effectively intervening providers' prescription behaviors in PHC. This study aimed to systematically review the interventions targeted to providers' prescription behaviors in PHC and its' effects on improving the rational use of antibiotics.

Background: Meat quality is a complex trait affected by genotypic and environmental factors. In a previous study, it was found that feedstuffs have various effects on the growth rate and meat quality of lambs. However, the underlying mechanisms are still not entirely clear.

DDTs, endosulfan, and PCBs were the most dominant compounds found in this study. Tiandong County (TD) and Guigang City (GG) sites were found to be heavily contaminated with high levels of endosulfan (385-925 ng/g lw) and/or DDTs (20.

We used a combined field and modeling study to elucidate the relative importance of NER formation to the reduction in available organic contaminants compared with fate processes commonly considered in risk assessment models (volatilization, leaching, and biodegradation). Specifically, four polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), i.

Background: Data on tenofovir alafenamide fumarate (TAF) for preventing mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus (HBV) are lacking.
Aims: To investigate the efficacy and safety of TAF therapy for preventing hepatitis B mother-to-child transmission.
Methods: Mothers with chronic HBV infection, positive for hepatitis B e-antigen and with HBV DNA >200 000 IU/mL received TAF for preventing mother-to-child transmission were enrolled retrospectively from multiple centres with data collection on mother-infant dyads up to postpartum week 24-28.
Liver stiffness measurement (LSM) frequently overestimates the severity of liver fibrosis because of steatosis. However, the impact of the controlled attenuation parameter (CAP) on liver stiffness cutoff values remains unknown; CAP was used to quantify and diagnose the severity of hepatic steatosis. The study was conducted to determine the effect of CAP on liver stiffness cutoff values in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFLiver fibrosis is a severe health problem worldwide, and it is characterized by the activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and excessive deposition of collagen. Prolonged arsenic exposure can induce HSCs activation and liver fibrosis. In the present study, the results showed that chronic NaAsO ingestion could result in liver fibrosis and oxidative stress in Sprague-Dawley rats, along with representative collagen deposition and HSCs activation.
