Surgical refinements and sensory and functional outcomes of using thinned sensate anterolateral thigh perforator flaps for foot and ankle reconstruction: A retrospective study.

To improve the use of sensate anterolateral thigh (ALT) flaps for foot and ankle reconstruction, we employed a thinned nerve-selective harvesting technique. The data of 31 patients in whom sensate ALT perforator flaps were transferred for reconstruction of soft-tissue defects in the foot and ankle were reviewed. Flaps were elevated with 2 refinements.

Vascularized Composite Iliac Flap Grafting for Trapezial Metastasectomy in Clear Cell Renal Carcinoma: A Case Report.

Case: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) metastases rarely occur in the trapezium. We present the case of a 69-year-old man with clear cell RCC metastasis to the trapezium. After tumor resection, bone and soft-tissue defects were reconstructed with a vascularized osseo-fascio-fat composite iliac flap.

VEGFA plays an important role in the promotion of neovascularization; therefore, inhibition of VEGFA can degrade the structure of blood vessels and reduce neovascularization.

Free Double-Barrel Vascularized Fibular Graft for Two-Bone Forearm Reconstruction After Tumor Resection: A Case Report.

Case: Two-bone forearm reconstruction after tumor resection in pediatric patients is challenging. We present a case of forearm reconstruction in a girl who underwent resection of a high-grade surface osteosarcoma involving the ulna and radius. A free vascularized fibular graft was osteotomized to 2 struts to reconstruct the two-bone defect.

Ipsilateral distal third femoral shaft fracture and retrograde intramedullary fixation are not absolute contraindications to anterolateral thigh flap harvest: A case report.

Despite the advantages of anterolateral thigh (ALT) flaps, many surgeons are hesitant to choose a thigh with ipsilateral femoral fracture and internal fixation as the flap donor site. To cover the right mid-upper leg wound, a free ALT flap was harvested from the left thigh of a 55-year-old man who initially underwent closed retrograde intramedullary fixation for a left distal third femoral shaft fracture. The flap was based on a musculocutaneous perforator located in the mid-thigh, which was approximately 10 cm above the proximal fracture level.

A novel recessive mutation affecting DNAJB6a causes myofibrillar myopathy.

Mutations in the DNAJB6 gene have been identified as rare causes of myofibrillar myopathies. However, the underlying pathophysiologica mechanisms remain elusive. DNAJB6 has two known isoforms, including the nuclear isoform DNAJB6a and the cytoplasmic isoform DNAJB6b, which was thought to be the pathogenic isoform.

Meigen (Diptera, Tipulidae) from Xizang Autonomous Region, China.

Eight species of the genus were previously known to occur in Xizang Autonomous Region. Here, three species are added to the fauna of Xizang. Among them two species, and are described and illustrated as new to science, and one species, Alexander, 1935 is recorded from Xizang for the first time.

Between 2012 and 2014, 6 patients underwent hand reconstruction following devastating injuries with amputations of the thumb and multiple digits.

Three new species of Nazeris Fauvel in Xizang, China (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Paederinae).

The paederine genus Nazeris Fauvel, 1873 previously included 241 described species and seven subspecies (Assing, 2016). As many as 49 species have been recorded from the Himalaya (Assing, 2014). In China, Yunnan has the greatest diversity of Nazeris (45 species).

Treatment of complex metacarpal defects with free chimeric iliac osteocutaneous flaps.

Objective: The aim of this report is to present the clinical results of using free chimeric iliac osteocutaneous flaps based on the periosteal branch of the superficial circumflex iliac artery (SCIA) in complex metacarpal reconstructions.

Methods: Reconstruction using free chimeric iliac osteocutaneous flaps was performed in a series of seven patients who underwent metacarpal reconstruction for complex metacarpal defects between March 2009 and March 2012. The procedure was performed for bone and soft tissue losses associated with posttraumatic infections (four patients) and posttraumatic bone and soft tissue defects (three patients).

The genus Nemacerota Hampson, [1893] includes 14 species worldwide, which are mainly distributed from Pakistan along the main Himalayan chain, the eastern frontier of the Tibetan plateau and the Central Chinese mountains to the northern Pacific regions. Ten species have been recorded from China. Among them, only N.

Posterior interosseous free flap for finger re-surfacing.

Background: The authors present their clinical experience and surgical methods of soft-tissue coverage for the finger using a posterior interosseous free flap.

Methods: Twelve posterior interosseous free flaps, including two dual-paddle flaps, were performed in 12 patients. Indications included: 1) patients with soft-tissue coverage of the dorsum of the finger (n=4), pulp (n=1), fingertip and pulp (n=5), 2) patients subsequent to release of finger and palm contracture (n=1) and 3) patients subsequent to finger separation (n=1).
