Coronary artery calcification (CAC) is a well-established cardiovascular disease (CVD) pathogenesis marker closely associated with dysregulated glucose and lipid metabolism. The present study investigated the relationship between the glycated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c)/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio and CAC. A total of 1608 eligible participants were enrolled in the study.

Research on the association between traditional and nontraditional lipid parameters, as well as CAA, in patients undergoing coronary angiography is limited. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate and compare the effects of lipid parameters on CAA development.

Patients And Methods: In total, 13,658 patients with GERD from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) database were analyzed. The patients were randomly divided into a training cohort (n = 9,560) and a validation cohort (n = 4,098) at a 7:3 ratio.
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a chronic and life-threatening disease characterized by pulmonary vascular remodeling (PVR), which involves the abnormal proliferation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs). These cells exhibit metabolic characteristics akin to cancer cells, particularly in their shift toward glycolysis. The Lon protease 1 (LONP1) has been shown to promote glycolytic reprogramming of tumor cells, conferring a malignant proliferative phenotype.

Methods: Causal relationships were estimated based on USPR and MI data from genome-wide association studies.
Objective: To investigate the effect of low-dose tolvaptan combined with hydration on the incidence of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) and prognosis in high-risk patients undergoing coronary angiography or intervention.
Methods: This single-center, randomized controlled clinical trial (ChiCTR2000028834) enrolled 232 patients scheduled for elective coronary angiography or intervention, randomly assigned to the experimental group (low-dose tolvaptan + standard intravenous hydration) or the control group (standard hydration alone). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to explore factors associated with CI-AKI occurrence.
Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a frequent and severe complication in critically ill patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), significantly worsening prognosis. Identifying early risk markers for AKI in AMI patients is critical for timely intervention. The stress hyperglycemia ratio (SHR), a marker of acute glycemic response to physiological stress, has been proposed as a predictor of AKI, but its role remains unclear.

Background: Stress hyperglycemia ratio is a novel indicator of acute coronary synthesis (ACS), which is closely related to the severity and complications of ACS and other cardiovascular diseases. However, its relationship with the progression of non target coronary lesions remains unclear. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between stress hyperglycemia ratio and the progression of non target coronary lesions.

In this article, we discuss Ye 's recent article on the association between age at diabetes diagnosis and subsequent risk of age-related ocular diseases. The study, which utilized United Kingdom Biobank data, highlighted a strong link between early diabetes onset and major eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and vision loss, independent of glycemic control and disease duration. This finding challenges the previous belief that diabetic eye disease primarily correlates with hyperglycemia.

TRIB2 primarily regulates cell proliferation through its scaffold or adaptor effect on promoting the degradation of target proteins by E3 ligase-dependent ubiquitination and regulating mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathways. TRIB2 is not only involved in the physiological proliferation of cells (granulosa cells, myoblasts, naive T cells, and thymocytes) during normal development but also in the pathological proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and a variety of cancer cells (lung cancer cells, liver cancer cells, leukemia cells, pancreatic cancer cells, gastric cancer cells, prostate cancer cells, thyroid cancer cells, cervical cancer cells, melanoma cells, colorectal cancer cells, ovarian cancer cells and osteosarcoma cells) under disease conditions.

Cr(VI) pollution poses great harm to the cyclic utilization of groundwater and surface water resources. Efficient adsorbent materials have great potential to change this situation and assist in the restoration of ecosystems. This work chooses porous boron nitride fibers (pBN) with stable physical and chemical properties as the matrix, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) as the coupling agent, and uses a one-step crosslinking method to graft poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) onto pBN, forming pBN-AS@PAH with fascinating Cr(VI) adsorption capacity.

Therefore, development of highly efficient adsorbent materials to adsorb and remove antibiotics is necessary. Here, cobalt oxide and nickel oxide are uniformly and tightly bonded on the surface of porous boron nitride fibers (PBNFs-NiCo), increasing the number of functional groups (B-O and N-H) and hydrogen bond receptors within PBNFs.

The strategic design of catalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is crucial in tackling the substantial energy demands associated with hydrogen production in electrolytic water splitting. Despite extensive research on birnessite (δ-MnO) manganese oxides to enhance catalytic activity by modulating Mn species, the ongoing challenge is to simultaneously stabilize Mn while improving overall activity. Herein, oxygen (O) vacancies and nitrogen (N) doping have been simultaneously introduced into the MnO through a simple nitrogen plasma approach, resulting in efficient OER performance.
