Combined pulmonary fibrosis and emphysema (CPFE) and lung cancer cast intertwined shadows, yet the molecular nexus binding them remains largely obscured. By integrating high-resolution transcriptomic landscapes, extensive genome-wide association resources, and a stratified Mendelian randomization (MR) framework, we distilled 809 differentially expressed genes and, in successive steps, confirmed their causal ties to squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, and small cell lung cancer. The credibility of these associations was bolstered through 3 sequential validation tiers - eQTL-anchored MR, eQTL-anchored SMR, and pQTL-anchored MR analyses - each reinforcing the robustness of the signals.

Gasdermin E (GSDME), a key executor of pyroptosis, exerts a unique dual role in tumorigenesis, acting as both a tumor suppressor and a tumor-promoting factor. Due to promoter hypermethylation, GSDME is epigenetically silenced in most solid tumors, including gastric, colorectal, and breast cancers. Its activation triggers the release of inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and IL-18, enhances CD8 T cell infiltration, and improves chemosensitivity, thereby exerting potent tumor-suppressive effects.

This study developed a probiotic -fermented soybean powder (EFSP) and analyzed its nutrient profile, volatile components, and laxative efficacy in rats. After 8 days fermentation, polysaccharide contents significantly decreased, while total flavonoid levels initially increased in the first 6 days, and then decreased rapidly. Isoflavone glycosides were reduced, accompanied by an increase in isoflavone aglycones.

The resistance mechanism of Gram-negative bacteria to the siderophore antibiotic cefiderocol is primarily attributed to carbapenemase and siderophore uptake pathways; however, specific factors and their relationships remain to be fully elucidated. Here, we constructed cefiderocol-resistant (CRKP) strains carrying different carbapenemases and knocked out siderophore genes to investigate the roles of various carbapenemases and siderophores in the development of cefiderocol resistance. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed that both and significantly increased the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of (KP) to cefiderocol, while showed a modest increase.

Fu-brick tea (FBT) is predominately fermented by Eurotium Cristatum, FBT polysaccharides (FTPs) and Eurotium Cristatum extracellular polysaccharides (ECPs) are the main active substances in FBT and Eurotium Cristatum, respectively. A pH/temperature bi-responsive gallic acid magnetic imprinted polymer (PTBG-MIP) was synthesized on a FeO@SiO@KH570 carrier using methacrylic acid (MAA), p-Vinylphenylboronic acid (p-VPBA), and N-isopropyl-acrylamide (NIPAAm) as complex functional monomers. The density functional theory (DFT) was employed to optimize the molar ratio of multi-functional monomers-template complex, which proved to be an effective tool for predicting complex configuration based on electrostatic potential (ESP) analysis and the lowest binding energy. DFT calculation and analysis determined the optimized molar ratio of 2:1:1:1 for GA-MAA-NIPAAm-p-VPBA, which showed good agreement with experimental results.

This study is to investigate the protective effects of intracellular polysaccharides (ECIP) on dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced ulcerative colitis (UC). The oral administration of ECIP could downregulate the disease activity index (DAI) and ameliorate the colonic shortening, immune stress, and damage caused by DSS. In addition, ECIP treatment increased the colonic contents of SCFAs including acetic, propionic, and butyric acids in UC mice.

As an emerging cancer treatment strategy, reactive oxygen species-based tumor catalytic therapies face enormous challenges due to hypoxia and the overexpression of glutathione (GSH) in the tumor microenvironment. Herein, a self-assembled copper-based nanoplatform, TCCHA, was designed for enzyme-like catalysis-enhanced chemodynamic/photodynamic/antiangiogenic tritherapy against hepatocellular carcinoma.
