Loneliness is associated with disruptions in socio-cognitive processes, including altered self-other representations and atypical processing of external stimuli. Here, we examine whether loneliness is characterized by altered expectations of emotion transitions for both oneself and others, which may contribute to the observed disruptions in socio-cognitive processes and pose challenges for social connection. Drawing on data from seven studies (total N = 1730; N = 113; N = 185; N = 376; N = 91; N = 68; N = 41; N = 856) using a validated emotion transition task, we found that lonely individuals hold atypical expectations about both their own and others' likelihoods to transition between emotions and are less accurate at predicting others' emotion transitions.

Selective RET inhibitors such as pralsetinib have become the standard of care for patients with RET fusion-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Serial analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has proven effective in monitoring disease control/progression and therapeutic response in NSCLC. In this prospective study, we analyzed longitudinal ctDNA profiles (at baseline, week 8, and at progression) in Chinese patients with advanced RET fusion-positive NSCLC treated with pralsetinib (NCT03037385), utilizing allele frequency-based, cfDNA quantity-normalized, and methylation-based metrics.

Maintaining cooperation requires responding to wrongdoing by, for example, punishing transgressors. However, we do not respond to all transgressions similarly: as adults, we are more likely to pursue the punishment of certain transgressions compared to others. This study ( = 213) looked at how presenting different transgressions may shape the developmental trajectory of third-party punishment behavior in children.

Optical imaging plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of cancer, yet conventional techniques often suffer from limitations such as tissue autofluorescence, insufficient imaging depth, and signal persistence. Here, we introduce a hybrid nanosensitizer, SPNs(SP1)@CoOOH, that leverages cascade energy transformation (ultrasonic → chemical → photonic energy) to enable ultrasound-activated luminescence imaging concomitant with enhanced sonodynamic therapy (SDT). By integrating semiconducting polymer nanoparticles (SPNs) with cobalt oxide hydroxide (CoOOH), our platform facilitates dual-pathway reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation under acidic and ultrasound costimulation.

Fabrication of plasmonic structures on a gold film is a well-established approach to improve the performance of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors. However, traditional fabrication techniques, such as photolithography, electron beam lithography (EBL), and focused ion beam (FIB) milling, often involve complex procedures and costly equipment. In this study, we present a mask-free, convenient method to fabricate robust plasmonic structures on the surface of z-cut α-quartz by combining femtosecond laser-induced modification with chemical etching for high-sensitivity Kretschmann configuration SPR sensing.
