Background: Intraoperative hypothermia (IOH) is common among patients undergoing total joint arthroplasty (TJA) of the lower extremities. Evaluating the risk factors for IOH is critical for the success of preventive interventions. This study aims to systematically assess the prevalence and risk factors of IOH in TJA patients.

The significance of iron in myocardial mitochondria function cannot be underestimated, because deviations in iron levels within cardiomyocytes may have profound detrimental effects on cardiac function. In this study, we investigated the effects of ferroportin 1 (FPN1) on cardiac iron levels and pathological alterations in mice subjected to chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH). The cTNT-FPN1 plasmid was administered via tail vein injection to induce the mouse with FPN1 overexpression in the cardiomyocytes.

Background: Iron deposition and ferroptosis are involved in ischemic stroke injury, but the choice of drugs for treatment is limited.
Purpose: To investigate the potential neuroprotective effects of Rosmarinic acid (RosA) encapsulated within nanoliposomes (RosA-LIP) on ischemic stroke.
Methods: Wild-type (WT) and TfR1 cKO (specific knockout of the TfR1 gene in BMECs) mice used to establish a dMCAO model, with simultaneous administration of RosA-LIP (20 mg/kg/d, i.
Purpose: This study aimed to compare early changes in classified higher-order aberrations (HOAs) pre- and postsurgery in patients who received nontoric versus toric implantable collamer lenses (ICL; ICL Model V4c; STAAR Surgical, Monrovia, CA, USA).
Methods: This prospective study included 124 eyes of 64 patients: 49 eyes were treated using a nontoric implantable collamer lens (ICL), and 75 eyes were treated using a toric implantable collamer lenses (TICL). Refractive parameters and ocular aberrations were examined before and 1 month after surgery.

Purpose: To compare the visual outcomes and risks of suboptimal vault-related complications between immediate sequential bilateral ICL surgery (ISBICLS) and delayed sequential bilateral ICL surgery (DSBICLS).
Design: A retrospective cohort study.
Methods: Patients who underwent bilateral ICL implantation between November 2014 and December 2021 at the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University (Shanghai, China) were included and divided into two groups: (1) ISBICLS: both eye surgeries performed on the same day, and (2) DSBICLS: second eye surgery performed < 7 days following the first one.
Due to the high suitability of semi-supervised learning for medical image segmentation, a plethora of valuable research has been conducted and has achieved noteworthy success in this field. However, many approaches tend to confine their focus to a singular semi-supervised framework, thereby overlooking the potential enhancements in segmentation performance offered by integrating several frameworks. In this paper, we propose a novel semi-supervised framework named Pesudo-Label Mean Teacher (PLMT), which synergizes the self-training pipeline with pseudo-labeling and consistency regularization techniques.

Background: Early-onset diabetes appears to be an aggressive phenotype of type 2 diabetes (T2D). The impact of the age of onset of T2D on albuminuria, especially high urinary albumin excretion, remains to be investigated.
Objective: To determine whether adults diagnosed with T2D between the ages of 18 and 45 more aggressively develop albuminuria.
Automatic and accurate segmentation of medical images plays an essential role in disease diagnosis and treatment planning. Convolution neural networks have achieved remarkable results in medical image segmentation in the past decade. Meanwhile, deep learning models based on Transformer architecture also succeeded tremendously in this domain.

The objective of this study is to examine the potential protective effect of rosmarinic acid (RosA) encapsulated within nanoliposomes (RosA-LIP) on hepatic damage induced by iron overload. The characteristics, stability, and release of RosA-LIP in vitro were identified. The mice were randomly assigned to five groups: Control, Model, Model+DFO (DFO), Model+RosA (RosA), and Model+RosA-LIP (RosA-LIP).

The present study aimed to investigate the impact of hydrogen (H) on chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH)-induced cardiac hypertrophy in mice by modulating iron metabolism. C57BL/6N mice were randomly allocated into four groups: control (Con), CIH, CIH + H, and H. The mice were exposed to CIH (21-5% FiO, 3 min/cycle, 8 h/d), and received inhalation of a hydrogen-oxygen mixture (2 h/d) for 5 weeks.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The Banxia-Houpu decoction (BHD), a renowned prescription documented in the Chinese medical book "The Synopsis of the Golden Chamber," has been proven to effectively mitigate inflammation within the central nervous system. Previous studies have demonstrated the efficacy of BHD in ameliorating symptoms in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Nevertheless, the precise mechanisms and comprehensive effects of BHD on central system injury in OSA models have not been fully investigated.

Introduction: In China, the demand for implantable collamer lens (ICL) surgery is booming. Immediate sequential bilateral ICL surgery (ISBICLS) benefits patients and clinics, but it remains controversial and lacks standardization. We aim to investigate the prevalence of, factors for, and surgeon attitudes toward ISBICLS.
