Long-Term Clinical Outcomes of Posterior Chamber Phakic Refractive Lens Implantation for Correction of Super-High Myopia.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety, efficacy, predictability, and stability of phakic refractive lens (PRL) implantation for the correction of super-high myopia.

Methods: This four-center prospective clinical study included 30 eyes from 16 myopic patients who underwent PRL implantation. The patients were followed up for one year, with evaluations of uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), refraction, intraocular pressure (IOP), vault, endothelial cell density (ECD), and axial length.

The prevalence and risk factors of intraoperative hypothermia in patients with hip/knee arthroplasty: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Intraoperative hypothermia (IOH) is common among patients undergoing total joint arthroplasty (TJA) of the lower extremities. Evaluating the risk factors for IOH is critical for the success of preventive interventions. This study aims to systematically assess the prevalence and risk factors of IOH in TJA patients.

Visual outcomes with two posterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses in myopic patients: a contralateral eye study.

Purpose: Assess the efficacy, safety, and visual quality of two posterior chamber phakic intraocular lenses (PIOL) for myopia correction.

Methods: In this randomized double-blind prospective controlled trial, 38 eyes of 19 myopic patients received phakic refractive (PR) IOL in one eye and implantable collamer lens (EVO ICL) in the opposite eye and were followed up for 1 year. Uncorrected distance visual acuity, corrected distance visual acuity, vault, disk halo size, contrast sensitivity, higher-order aberrations, retinal imaging quality, intraocular scattering, and subjective glare/halo perception were measured.

Methods: In this retrospective study, we enrolled 53 eyes of 53 patients and measured their refractive parameters and intraocular, corneal, and whole-eye HOAs using OPD scanning preoperatively and 1 month, and 3 years postoperatively. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software.

Methods: This prospective study included 124 eyes of 64 patients: 49 eyes were treated using a nontoric implantable collamer lens (ICL), and 75 eyes were treated using a toric implantable collamer lenses (TICL). Hydrogen Attenuates Chronic Intermittent Hypoxia-Induced Cardiac Hypertrophy by Regulating Iron Metabolism.

The present study aimed to investigate the impact of hydrogen (H) on chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH)-induced cardiac hypertrophy in mice by modulating iron metabolism. C57BL/6N mice were randomly allocated into four groups: control (Con), CIH, CIH + H, and H. The mice were exposed to CIH (21-5% FiO, 3 min/cycle, 8 h/d), and received inhalation of a hydrogen-oxygen mixture (2 h/d) for 5 weeks.
