Objectives: Cognitive impairment and sensory impairment are highly prevalent in older adults, but the relationship between the two remains inconclusive. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between visual impairment (VI), hearing impairment (HI), dual sensory impairment (DSI), and the onset of cognitive impairment among Chinese older adults.
Methods: Data were obtained from the 2011-2018 China Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS) cohort.
To establish an ultrasound-based radiomics model to differentiate fibro adipose vascular anomaly (FAVA) and intramuscular venous malformation (VM). The clinical data of 65 patients with VM and 31 patients with FAVA who were treated and pathologically confirmed were retrospectively analyzed. Dimensionality reduction was performed on these features using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO).

With the development of artificial intelligence technology in medicine, an intelligent deep learning-based embryo scoring system (iDAScore) has been developed on full-time lapse sequences of embryos. It automatically ranks embryos according to the likelihood of achieving a fetal heartbeat with no manual input from embryologists. To ensure its performance, external validation studies should be performed at multiple clinics.

Based on the GIMMS NDVI and SPOT NDVI fusion data, combined with precipitation and temperature meteorological station data from 1982 to 2019, the effects of climate change and human activities on vegetation changes before and after the ecological restoration projects (ERPs) were investigated by using trend analysis, partial correlation analysis, and modified residual analysis. The results showed that: ① Temporally, the trend of NDVI had shifted from a slow decrease (>0.

Both climate change and farmland degradation pose significant challenges to China's food security. In 2009, Chinese government launched a nationwide, well-facilitated farmland (WFF) construction strategy to improve food production.

Mitofusin 1 (MFN1) plays a crucial role in mitochondrial fusion and oocyte development. However, its function in preimplantation embryonic development and its potential involvement in epigenetic regulation remain poorly understood. In this study, it is shown that MFN1 interacts with PADI6, a key component of the cytoplasmic lattice in oocytes and early embryos.

Additionally, there are limited data on the VE of acellular pertussis-containing vaccines (aPVs) when used interchangeably.
Methods: We conducted a matched case-control study to estimate the VE of aPVs against polymerase chain reaction-confirmed pertussis infection in Lu'an in 2024.
Objective: The study aimed to apply an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted scoring system, and improve the diagnostic efficiency of Sclerosing adenosis and early breast cancer.
Methods: This study retrospectively collected adenopathy patients (156 cases) and early breast cancer patients (150 cases) in Henan Provincial People's Hospital from August 2020 to April 2023.
Results: The area under the curve of the model constructed by clinical ultrasound features and combined AI features to predict and identify the two in the training group was 0.
Quantification of transcription activities in mammalian preimplantation embryos is challenging due to a huge amount of maternally stored transcripts and paucity of research materials. Here, we investigate genome-wide transcription activities of mouse and human preimplantation embryos by quantifying elongating RNA polymerase II. Two transcriptional waves are identified in early mouse embryos, with summits at the 2-cell and 8-cell stages.

In this study, we investigated the impact of different chromosomal abnormalities on the morphokinetic patterns of embryonic development.
Methods: Our cohort includes 939 time-lapse preimplantation genetic testing cycles performed between January 2019 and July 2022 at a single academic fertility center, with a total of 2876 biopsied blastocysts.
A one-pot method using a dielectric barrier discharge microplasma reactor was employed to rapidly and conveniently prepare glutathione-protected platinum nanoclusters (GSH@PtNCs) with green fluorescence emission. Based on the inner filter effect (IFE), the synthesized GSH@PtNCs were utilized to achieve fast, sensitive and selective detection of malachite green.

Recommendations for this condition are currently unclear, and relevant clinical and neonatal outcomes are still lacking. This study analyzed the outcomes of poor-quality embryo transfers, including fetal outcomes, in the fresh cycle and frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycle.

Background: Obesity poses a significant global health challenge, with profound implications for women's reproductive health. The relationship between ovarian reserve and body mass index (BMI) remains a subject of debate. While obesity is generally associated with poorer outcomes in assisted reproductive technology (ART), the evidence remains inconclusive.

Methods: We used data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) covering a decade and involving 10,828 participants. A random intercept cross-lagged model was used to explore the interplay between nighttime/midday sleep durations and new-onset chronic diseases at both the within-individual and between-individual levels, followed by a dose-response analysis at the between-individual level to determine the optimal sleep duration.
Study Question: Can the density of the inner cell mass (ICM) be a new indicator of the quality of the human blastocyst?
Summary Answer: The densification index (DI) developed in this study can quantify ICM density and provide positive guidance for ploidy, pregnancy, and live birth.
What Is Known Already: In evaluating the quality of ICM, reproductive care clinics still use size indicators without further evaluation. The main disadvantage of this current method is that the evaluation of blastocyst ICM is relatively rough and cannot meet the needs of clinical embryologists, especially when multiple blastocysts have the same ICM score, which makes them difficult to evaluate further.
Background: The occurrence of blastocyst collapse may become an indicator of preimplantation embryo quality assessment. It has been reported that collapsing blastocysts can lead to higher rates of aneuploidy and poorer clinical outcomes, but more large-scale studies are needed to explore this relationship. This study explored the characteristics of blastocyst collapse identified and quantified by artificial intelligence and explored the associations between blastocyst collapse and embryo ploidy, morphological quality, and clinical outcomes.

Background: The best method for selecting embryos ploidy is preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidies (PGT-A). However, it takes more labour, money, and experience. As such, more approachable, non- invasive techniques were still needed.

Disentangling how preferences contribute to older adults' decision-making could facilitate finding optimal ways to deliver home- and community-based services in times of increasing scarcity.
Objective: To identify Chinese community-dwelling older adults' preference structure for home- and community-based services and thus to optimize service provision.

Dynamic-related protein 1 (DRP1) is a key protein of mitochondrial fission. In this study, we found that inhibition of activity of DRP1 led to increased levels of cleavage embryo genes in mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs), which might reflect a transient totipotency status derived from pluripotency. This result indicates that DRP1 inhibition in mESCs leads to a tendency to obtain a new expression profile similar to that of the 2C-like state.

Two deep-learning models were separately trained to screen for Nrf2-agonists and safety. The trained models screened potentially active chemicals from approximately 70,000 dietary compounds within 5 min.
