Introduction: Cholecystectomy (CCY) is generally advocated for patients presenting with acute cholangitis (AC) to ensure definitive management and prevent recurrence. The optimal timing for cholecystectomy (CCY), however, remains to be determined. This study aims to comprehend the clinical outcomes and financial implications of performing a CCY during index admission.

A secondary aim was to assess their comfort level in sharing these barriers with health care providers.
Methods: Data were obtained from the 2022 National Cancer Institute Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS 6), which collected information on SDOH outcomes, including food, housing, and transportation insecurities, as well as participants' comfort level in sharing their SDOH concerns with providers.

Background: Ataxia telangiectasia mutated (ATM) mutations represent the most common homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) mutation in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, their therapeutic role in NSCLC has not been established.
Case: Here, we present a case of a 91-year-old male with metastatic NSCLC who progressed on multiple lines of treatment.

Background: Obesity is an established risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE). Observational data suggest that glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) may reduce the risk of VTE. However, the effects of GLP-1RAs on VTE have not been tested in randomized controlled trials (RCTs).

Background: Serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) inhibit the presynaptic reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine and are widely used in the treatment of depression and neuropathic pain. We evaluate the impact of SNRIs use on the clinical outcomes of patients presenting with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TCM).
Methods: We analyzed data from the TriNetX research network.

Background & Aims: Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) are widely used for glycemic control or weight management in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus or overweight/obesity. However, there are concerns regarding their association with serious gastrointestinal adverse events, although findings have been inconsistent.
Methods: We systematically searched 5 databases for placebo-controlled randomized controlled trials assessing GLP-1RAs in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, overweight/obesity, or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis/metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
Introduction: Nonvariceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding (NVUGIB) is a common cause of hospitalization in the United States, with approximately 400 000 admissions annually and a 5%-10% mortality rate. This study aimed to evaluate frailty's impact on NVUGIB outcomes.
Methods: We utilized the 2019 National Readmission Database (NRD) to identify adult patients (≥ 18 years) admitted with a principal diagnosis of NVUGIB using ICD-10-CM codes.

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have improved lung cancer treatment but are associated with an increased risk of cardiotoxicity. We investigated whether statins could mitigate ICI-associated cardiovascular risks in lung cancer patients.
Methods: We performed a retrospective, propensity score-matched cohort study utilizing the TriNetX database.

IntroductionDespite recent advances in the care of critically ill patients with cancer, studies show that lung cancer is associated with higher Intensive Care Unit (ICU) mortality than other types of cancer. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to investigate the ICU outcomes and predictors of mortality in critically ill patients with lung cancer.MethodsPubMed, OVID MEDLINE, Cochrane and Embase were searched to identify relevant studies.

Background: The management of severe symptomatic aortic stenosis has been revolutionized by transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), offering a minimally invasive alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR). However, the comparative safety and efficacy of these interventions remain subjects of ongoing investigation.
Aim: To compare the clinical outcomes and safety of TAVR SAVR in patients with severe symptomatic aortic stenosis.
Background & Aims: Alcoholic hepatitis (AH) is a severe manifestation of alcoholic liver disease with high morbidity and mortality. This study used the 2016-2020 National Readmission Database to investigate how obesity influences AH outcomes.
Methods: Adult hospitalizations were categorized as those without obesity, Class 1 obesity (BMI 30-34.

Background: Patients with COPD on triple therapy often face exacerbations and comorbidities. Emerging evidence suggests that glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogues may reduce the risk of exacerbation in patients with COPD and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study investigates the impact of GLP-1 analogues on pulmonary outcomes in patients with COPD on single-inhaler triple therapy (SITT) and T2DM.

Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a hematological disorder with an elevated risk of thrombosis. The primary cause of death in PNH patients is thrombosis. Thrombosis in patients with PNH typically occurs in unusual locations such as mesenteric, cerebral, or cutaneous veins; arterial occurrences are less frequent.

Background: For people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD), high-intensity exercise in individual or group format can improve function and quality of life (QoL). Individualized virtual exercise programs have been effective for people with PD, but the feasibility and impact of group exercise in the virtual format has not been investigated.
Purpose: To compare the effect of individual and group virtual exercise on functional mobility and QoL for PwPD.

Tracheal stenosis is a common complication of endotracheal intubation or tracheostomy, resulting in significant morbidity and mortality. Bronchoscope interventions have been proposed as a safe alternative for the management of post-intubation post-intubation tracheal stenosis (PITS). Data for patients diagnosed with PITS across two hospitals, between 2021 and 2022, encompassing demographic, clinical, and procedural details were gathered from electronic medical records, and analysed.

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is an acute but often reversible left ventricular dysfunction commonly triggered by emotional stress. There are multiple variants within the general condition; however, reverse Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is a rare variant of stress-induced cardiomyopathy affecting the basilar segment of the left ventricle. This commonly manifests in younger women with clinical presentations similar to acute coronary syndrome.

The review article "Haemodynamic Monitoring During Noncardiac Surgery" offers valuable insights but lacks evidence linking specific haemodynamic strategies to improved outcomes. There's a need for standardized protocols, ongoing clinician education, and further validation of new technologies. Additionally, balancing the use of invasive versus noninvasive methods and addressing cost-effectiveness and sustainability are essential.
