The olive oil industry generates vast amounts of by-products, including olive pomace, olive mill wastewater, olive pits, and olive leaves, which pose serious environmental and economic challenges. However, these residues are rich in bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, dietary fibers, unsaturated fatty acids, and sugar derivatives, making them valuable resources for sustainable valorization. This review explores innovative biotechnological and probiotic-driven approaches to convert olive waste into high-value products, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 12 (Responsible consumption and production) and SDG 13 (Climate action).

Introduction: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic resulted in significant global mortality and morbidity, with emerging mutant strains continuing to potentially precipitate severe respiratory illness. Two clinical assessment tools, namely, the COVID-19 Risk of Complications Score (CRS), based on 13 comorbidities, and the ALKA (age, lactate dehydrogenase, kidney function, and albumin) score have been developed to predict disease severity among patients who are symptomatic at presentation. This study aimed to compare the performance of these two risk-scoring systems in predicting hospital admission, critical illness, and mortality.

Introduction: An unbalanced immune response and excessive inflammation are the major hallmarks of severe SARS-CoV-2 infection, which can result in multiorgan failure and death. The dysregulation of the complement system has been shown in various studies as a crucial factor in the immunopathology of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Complement alternative pathway has been linked to the excessive inflammation in severe SARS-CoV-2 infection in which decreased levels of factor H (FH) and elevated levels of properdin (FP) were observed.

The escalating prevalence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria presents a critical global health challenge, necessitating the urgent development of alternative antimicrobial strategies. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have emerged as promising antimicrobial agents due to their broad-spectrum activity, unique physicochemical properties, and multiple mechanisms of bacterial inhibition. Their nanoscale size, high surface area-to-volume ratio, and ability to generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) make them highly effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

A new computational tool, the Average Electron Density Estimator (AED-Est), has been developed along with a new scheme for assigning atom type, the AAA scheme. This combination of the AED-Est and the AAA scheme is designed to rapidly estimate properties, including electron populations, volumes, and average electron density (AED) values, with high precision and an accuracy comparable to values computed at the quantum levels. AED-Est gave comparable results when using three different sets/subsets of various neutral molecules.

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) offer a promising pathway for the development of low-cost and efficient solar hydrogen production systems. Despite remarkable advancements, poor chemical stability of the OIHPs in aqueous environments limits their practical applications. Herein, we design a photoelectrochemical (PEC) device consisting of layer-by-layer assembled P(VDF-TrFE)/CHNHPbBr (MAPbBr) hybrid films that simultaneously achieve efficient and stable solar water splitting.

Despite being biodegradable, paper packages have restricted use in food packaging because of their strong tendency to absorb moisture and their high permeability to liquids and gasses from the environment. Consequently, investigating the application of biodegradable biopolymers, such as nanofibrillated cellulose and chitosan, to enhance characteristics is a pertinent technique. This study developed paper from unbleached bamboo alkaline sulfite anthraquinone and methanol (ASAM) pulps by incorporating nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) and the antimicrobial agent chitosan (CS) into the papermaking process, offering a sustainable solution for advanced food packaging systems.

Chronic illness affects children's health and disrupts the spatial and temporal aspects of schooling by complicating attendance, interrupting learning routines, and exposing institutional rigidity. While many educational systems treat chronicity as an exception to be managed, this review reconceptualizes it as a pedagogical and symbolic challenge to normative assumptions about inclusion, care, and participation. To systematically examine how school-based behavioral and psychosocial interventions support children and adolescents with chronic health conditions (CHCs) in inclusive educational settings and to analyze what these interventions reveal about institutional practices of care and recognition.

Reaction between 2-(pyridin-2-yl)quinoxaline (L) and [MnBr(CO)] afforded a dark-stable -[MnBr(CO)L] that releases CO upon exposure to visible light (468-525 nm). Different structural elucidation methods, including X-ray crystallography, were used to thoroughly characterize the structure of the organometallic compound. Prior to recording the profiles of dark-stability and photolysis in various organic solvents, the complex's solvatochromism features were examined experimentally and through quantum chemical calculations.
